Leafbiting 2019 FREE ART!?!?

That may have grabbed your attention X3
Leafbiting time is upon us again and I'm taking names! :D I have a little extra planned for this year inspired by what I did last year. For this year, if you go through the trouble of typing up (or copy pasting) a recipe to either your journal or make an actual submission with a photo of what it looks like after you made it yourself and then link to it in your application for Leafbiting, there's a chance I'll make it myself and post it in my gallery along with a little chibi of your character like I did last year. To increase your odds of me trying your recipe, make sure it's an actual full nutrient meal or at the very least a good vegetarian dietary supplement to a meal that's been stripped of all the tasty meats.
Hope to see lots of you join me, recurring guests and new ones!
What is Leafbiting? October 4th is World Animal Day, something that doesn't seem to be a very well known fact around the world X3. As my gesture towards all the tasty animals I love to eat so much, including fish and other seafood, I refrain from eating any meat for 2 months (until December 4th, my birthday). It helps me appreciate eating meats even more so, I think anyway.
Can I join? Yes! Please do~ You don't have to do it for the sake of the tasty animals we love to eat, it's simply a challenge you can set yourself along with others.
How do I leafbite then? Starting the 4th of October, we all stop eating meat for any period of time up to 2 months. It sounds simple enough, but if you're not used to a vegetarian diet, you need make sure you properly substitute all the animal foodstuffs you cut out. Think of beans, soy products, eggs, nuts, mushrooms, cheese and other dairy, readily available meat substitutes are usually found in most supermarkets. It's a good idea to think ahead of time and plan the meals for your days/weeks/months of leafbiting, find vegetarian recipes from around the webz and ask your fellow leafbiters or vegetarians you know for suggestions.
It is IMPORTANT to
- make sure you eat properly, get all the nutrition you need. I can't say it enough, just leaving meat off of your plate isn't healthy. Talk to your roommates or parents if they're the ones usually cooking for you to see if they want to help you or even cook for you through this period.
- have fun! Don't suffer through meat withdrawal or malnourishment just for the sake of joining. If you don't know your limits, just go for a few days or maybe a week at the most to be sure you can handle it.
I'm already a vegetarian That's great! I hope you appreciate what we're trying to do here then, even though you can't really join.
I don't want to Leafbite That's fine. The reason I do this is BECAUSE I like eating meat after all, so I see where you're coming from. If you still want to do something for World Animal Day, you could spend the day spoiling your pets rotten, help out at your local animal shelter or give them a donation of pet foods or monies you can afford to give to charity, anything to show your love and support for the animals living with us on this planet :3
I think Leafbiting is stupid because *insert reasons* Honestly I've heard them all by now. Even so, if you really object to any of this or need to say something unproductive, send me a note instead. I want to keep this journal an encouraging environment for those that do want to join. I have had to block people before that didn't seem to understand this.
How do I join? Leave a comment on this journal, stating you want to join. Tell me for how many days you'd like to participate, anywhere from 1 day to 2 months (61 days). If you want, you can link to a vegetarian recipe you like and I'll put it next to your name on this journal :3 If your period overlaps with special holidays (like Thanksgiving or maybe family birthdays) and you don't want to put out your family by having them put out vegetarian meals for you, you can ask for a day of exempt. These days won't count towards your total, but at least you won't have to sit around people eating meat while you chew away on a salad.

I think another alternative is to volunteer at an animal shelter...or do both that and leaf biting. Also the micros are safe for 2 months so huzzah!
But in all seriousness, best of luck to ya.
Also try stuffed cabbage but replace the meat for Quinoa. It has both fiber and protein and you can season it how you like.
But thanks for offering and wish ya luck.
I can sparatically eat an all vegan meal.
Again I wish ya luck and hope it all goes well for ya.

I prefer to keep recipes simple, make sure anyone that normally just pits meats, potatoes or pasta and some sauce or veg together can make with entry level kutchen experience. Getting tiny slices of avocado and fruit or potato just for a little lunch is usually more trouble than people are willing to pout up with to survive without meat.
You know WHEN we actually start, right?
Will see if I can find any recipes I used last year.
It's just vegetarian, not vegan, right?
Yes it's vegetarian (people pls read the journal XD)
And yeah lol I just wanted to make sure because you'd be surprised how many people over here in the US conflate veganism with vegetarianism.
... like, really, why would anyone want to look at porridge or homemade fries ...
Will just do my best to eat vegetarian for as long as I can and leave it at that. Not like the arbitrary number of days, or whether they're concurrent, matters or anything. :3
And yes I think I should research looking up for more recipes for have more variety x)
I think I'll say I'll do 14 days, though I kinda eat less meat then my family most of the time ^^
Good luck kittie <3
It does indeed sound like quite the challange, and i would be interested to at least make the attempt to join
but sadly i do not have a choise in meals around my house, so its meat every night :T
Hope you enjoy~
Gotta start somewhere right?
I could stand to lose a few lbs!
Dont judge me!! XD
I've been making this harder on myself the past couple of years than I needed to...XD
Sign me up for a full week this time around; Imma push myself further than before!
=====
Sadly I do not have recipes or anything I kinda just wing-it half the time.
ik probeer een dag extra dit jaar, 2 dagen Foshu
my username is mouse26, not mouse26i :)
I will not be weak that week! I will, however, squeak!
(I'll also try to whip up a decent recipe.)
Good to have you back~
