Oh for the love of... Seriously, FA, I'm dissappointed!!!

I'm sorry, but WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU GUYS?!?
I've never seen so much hate so quickly spread around like this! I thought furries were supposed to be kindloving people, who for once were a community able to love and accept everyone! I was happy being here, where I was finally not judged, where I was finally free to post whatever I wanted without feeling ashamed or humiliated. I thought I was in a community that I could finally fit in to, and feel safe, happy, and truly accepted for who I am.
But now I see so many of you turned into disgusting monsters. And I really hate to say this, it breaks my heart to say it, really...!
Look at you! Calling names, yelling fat insults, harrassing other people who might not agree with you!
THIS. IS. DISGUSTING!!
What the fuck is wrong with this place!!! What is wrong with this world where there is no such place as a safe place to be!!
Yes, someone made a mistake by not speaking right for many people, yes, I understand many will now be more hurt and misunderstood than before, but why are you all growling and biting in this gross pointless rage!?!?!
I just love how the moment someone does something stupid everyone comes out and finds the worst most insulting things to say, and I know they would never say it to anyone normally. You're calling someone a 'whale' and a 'dumb cow' because she happens to be overweight as well.
Is this how you treat every overweight furry? Because I know there are a lot of them! I understand a lot of you are upset, but to turn to such immature disgusting namecalling is no better than a child, or the people who yell "yiff in hell furfags". You're on the same EXACT level as those people who have been out to humiliate and hurt us!! Her appearance has NOTHING to do with her choice, so LEAVE THE UGLY AND FAT INSULTS OUT OF THIS!
I'm going to quote myself on some other posts because I believe I brought up some good points:
I was merely upset that they just sat there smiling like idiots when everyone laughed, and continued to silently smile like idiots when Tyra said "Furries are people who have sex in animal suits."
Like seriously, Tyra was clearly out there to humiliate them, and it was VERY evident, and instead of saying "Hold up, excuse me, but you've got it all wrong" they just went "huryup!"
I understand Tyra was putting them on the spot and asking odd questions and that at the moment they probably couldn't think of proper responses, but if you know someone is out to make you look like the next sideshow freak on TV and specifically about SEX then don't OFFER to be on the show if you're out to prove furries aren't all perverts!
If I was in that situation, I personally would have said "I'm sorry, Tyra, but you need to stop laughing at my lifestyle. You didn;t laugh at the other two people, who I personally think are disgusting for their lustful greedy more than one person actions, but you right out laughed at us. And the crowd followed you. Furries by definition does not mean we like having sex dressed up as animals, it's in no way as freakish as you make it sound. Yes, perhaps I myself do it (not really but if it was the case) but not all fursuits are used for such purposes. Furries are simply people who admire animals with human features, like ancient egyptians once did, and practically anyone who's ever animated for disney. Think about it, isn't it obvious that the disney animators were trying to make the characters visually attractive, even as animals? So it's the same thing. A furry is just like anyone out there who likes to roleplay out as something else, like a fantasy geek or an anime otaku. And "normal" people dress up all the time and have roleplay sex, they dress as cowboys, nurses, nuns, schoolgirls, and yet no one finds this odd. So there is nothing odd about playing this way in fursuits either."
But nope... nothing of the like...
Just...
Smiling and nodding like idiots, not arguing for themselves, not defending themselves, and giving Tyra the exact answers she wanted for the crowd to go "GASP HOW WEIRD AND SCANDALOUS!"
But I don't blame them, really, they were put on a show where you can only have short responses, and I'm sure at the time they felt justified with their explanations. And it was not their fault that Tyra was asking them such odd and clearly judgemental questions. Yes, chew and tom should have explained better/planned out their 'what a furry is speech' better/or just plain not have gone on the show. And I was more offended by Tyra and the crowd than the furs being put on the spot. Did you watch the clip? Tyra calmly explained the other couples' odd quirks, but she right out laughed when she described furries, and so did everyone else. And she CONTINUED to keep this mocking attitude the ENTIRE time this was going on! Even if those furs DID say something more proper, no matter what, it was clear Tyra was out on her show to purely humiliate and "point out the freaks".
Another post I made was as follows:
There will always be a stupid person who feels honored being on TV, even if it means humiliation. -___-;
Of course, if this is anything like the misworded news story that was on TV about that one guy who got arrested for ordering "anime" comics in the mail, which was described by the news as 'animated child porn', a lot of people are going to rage. That rage forced the news people to post an apologetic article saying that they got the term wrong and that it was not in fact what anime was.
The problem is no one seems to be raging at the right people. They need to rage at Tyra for putting people on the spot and laughing at them, and need to express concern that many people have gotten the wrong idea. If enough people say 'this is not acceptable, proper, or correct, please inform your watchers that you ruined the reputation of hundreds of thousands on your show."
It's no longer up the chew and tom to fix this mess, since by now I'm sure none of these RAGE furries will listen. The one who has the power to fix our reputation is the one who hosted the footage. She has the power to say 'I'm sorry but it seems we assumed wrong.'
I'm just feeling so terrible for any teenagers out there who are trying to get by being furries, they will be ridiculed even more, and will more likely have to keep it more of a secret than before. Now parents will be harder to come out to, because it's been percepted that furries are sexual freaks. This one episode of this show probably very well ruined a lot of chances for furs to be understood as good, friendly people.
RAGEfurs, please, for the love of god and all that is furry, calm the hell down, or NO ONE will take you seriously. Prove to be the loving community you so avidly claim to be!!
I am literally more ashamed by all the reactions by all of YOU, than by the event on the Tyra show!!!! YOU MAKE ME FEEL DISGUSTING AND DIRTY EVEN BEING ASSOCIATED WITH THE WORD 'FURRY'!!! [/b]

Seriously... I'm angry at her, too. But I've been insulted all my life. Nothing changes. It never will. Get over it, Goddammit! >:C
Seriously?
FURRIES SRS BIZNESS.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z_5XaOHEW8
*slaps forehead*
it's just one of those things on, yeah I can see how it is frustrating, but it just bound to happen ^^;
Hell I didn't even know about any of this till this afternoon, I was searching youtube to figure out what people were getting all mad about ><
and as for you tube...went on it as well, and as always...Tyra still acts like a dumb broad >>; but yeah...she really basically put them on the spot, and it's still not fair for those two to get banned...
I'm sorry, but are people/furs calling you fat? >:o They should go screw their mothers, you aren't fat. Your poofy. xD All Espeons are poofy, didn't you notice in the games? They're all floofy.
*Trying to cheer you up* It was really rude of all guilty people to do those things.
Not only that, but if anyone supports ChewFox and says 'leave her alone', these angry furries go after that person and pile on the insults.
It's really sad to see, since I thought people here, if sometimes a little childish (which isn;t always bad at all), were at least more open and nicer than that...
I agree that Chewfox was shafted. The reaction of the Fandom was deplorable.
*sighs* I love the Fandom, just not some of the things the less... evolved members do. I must not good at attracting the trolls- wrote a journal slapping the asshats, and didn't get even one! I'm almost disappointed.
I, for one, think Chewfox was brave, if naive to think she'd get anything close to an even break on a show like Tyra. I also don't think she did anything wrong. While she didn't correct Tyra's blanket statement that "Furries have sex in costume", neither did she say that herself, nor did she allow Tyra to get away with the bestiality and Mickey Mouse question, stepping on those immediately.
Having been on TV myself and seeing how fifteen minutes of taping was cut to only thirty seconds (the thirty seconds that made me look like an utter dork), I know how nervous a person can be and how hard it is to be fast on the replies. I'm willing to take the benefit of the doubt and see things from that perspective, instead of the vile abuse other folks piled onto her.
If I could I would offer to go on the show just to clear things up XD
Though, it looks like the nitwits have blown their loads and are off onto some new distraction. Now maybe Chew can go back to just having fun with her mate and friends (no, I don't mean the sexual stuff), and being just another fur-fan.
It'll blow over about 3 years or so. Til then...looks like lots of us gotta stay as we are, closet furs. I'm so glad Tyra isn's popular as Oprah or we'd be officially screwed.
Oh well. Thank you for the journal. It feels really god to see people that are raging at the rage and nothing else.
I just wish for peace back in our fandom.
Glad my journal made you feel a bit relieved. I really don't believe in people raging at someone so badly for a little dumb mistake. It was dumb, but it doesn't make someone a bad person...
I'm not going to justify everyone's actions, and I personally wouldn't wanna go cussing that chick out for what she did, but I don't think it's a good idea to bring that aspect of furry fandom out into the open. Every time furries get publicity, it's about their sex habits. People always over look the normal and creative parts. And I doubt they'll ever stop doing that, because normal furries who aren't into all this crazy fetish shit keep quiet because they're ashamed of the ones with all the crazy fetishes who can't stop screaming about it to the entire world.
Shame how the minority always ruins it for everyone, huh?
Not only did it make furries as a whole sound like sexual weirdos, but also made it seem like all furries think they are actually animals in the indside. Which also doesn't apply to all furries.
Really it was a bad case of wrong things said in the wrong place. Really wrong. I'm just hoping some intellegent people get together to tell Tyra that what those 2 explained wasn't really what furry was all about. Even if it means someone else going on that show to tell the ACTUAL truth about it and clear things up, maybe, just MAYBE it would help a little. But I doubt it. People will just never understand some things.
This is exactly why I don't watch much TV anymore XP
I didn't see the show, don't agree with the decision to ban her from FA and think that a little foolishness in putting youself in Tyra's line of fire is no reason for such umbrage.
I generally tried to stay away from it all, as it's just insane.
Chill out and smoke moar.. seriously
It is ridiculous. It needs to stop.
But the drama is somewhat entertaining, I'm not going to lie.
I like fursuit sex, as well as any other costume/rp sex. (eg, I had sex in an ER with my ex while wearing a latex doctor's uniform. Hawt.)
Every subculture has sex.
And we all love sex. Few don't. (See Tyra's vampire episode part 3 where the crowd is APPALLED that the vampires on stage do NOT HAVE SEX)
Yeah, so it's SHOCKING if normal people have freaky sex, but EVEN MORE SHOCKING when freaks don't have sex or just want 'normal' romantic sex.
Chewfox put a positive spin on the sex part of are culture, be glad it wasn't someone else.
It's sad how many people are willing to get pissed because someone did go on tv.
Nuff said, honestly it was a cute few minutes of their time, you will find no rage from me, but on the other hand, I do not discuss my bedroom behavior with people I dont know, and how shocking can Chew and Tom be compared to Two Husbands gal, and the Group Sex Whore that never sleeps, it was sex bashing in all its glory, the fandom just unfortunately got dragged in, and who better to expose our fetishes as vanilla then them.
I also can't stop wondering why everyone gets so VIOLENTLY pissed at the furs that give their response of what they do as furries to the media, and not the media itself for utterly blowing it out of proportion >.>....
I actually think this is indicative of a good thing about the fandom, if expressed in a poor way. We don't repress anything. We say EXACTLY what's on our minds, have our fits and our outburts, then get OVER it. You think normal, "socially acceptable" people get over things? No, they're forced to maintain composure and never express their opinion. So they stew in it. And they don't MOVE ON.
Simply BECAUSE we furries tend to have wild, uncontrolled (but thankfully not physically violent thus far, let's keep it that way) outbursts, I think we're more emotionally healthy for it. And it doesn't have to come out again three months down the road because we got it out of our system, let it be known where we stand, and went on with our lives.
Just a theory, but I think it has merit. And Chewfox was an idiot, srsly.
""Is this how you treat every overweight furry?""
I sure hope not.
I was going to post something similar to this earlier actually, for the generalizing comments said about fat people were really hurtful. But I didn't want to sound like I was butthurt or something. It doesn't bother me that much for I don't fit into the label, and I know myself that I don't. Not saying it doesn't bother me, but it's bothersome enough.
Now, I'm not as large as Chewfox. But... It makes me wonder. All those things said.... is that what people really think of me as the look at me? Or is it only when I screw up they think of me that way?
Because seriously, I'm far from the "fatty" stereotype, and yet people tend to want to lump all of us into a large group.
I march with a large metal instrument which includes hours of practice every other day on a hot/cold field. On Saturdays, it's easy to rack up over six hours of practice before toss you onto a school bus loaded with equipment and uniform bags to go preform your show over again. After the show, you run back to the bus, and then take another stuffy ride until you end up back at the school around 10 PM or so. Then you unload your equipment, and trudge back home to crash.
But seriously, since I'm overweight I must find time between marching band, school/homework, and multiple other activities (Zumba, GSA meetings, and Nat.Honors Soc. to name a few) to sit on a couch/computer and eat tons of junk food.
Makes perfect sense!
I don't know. I just find it highly ironic that people who whine over the possibility of people making generalizations about furs, don't even think twice about generalizing fat people. Yes there are some who are that way because of poor habits, but it's not always that way.
Sorry for ranting on your journal. ._.
It really is sad that the moment someone does something wrong people find ways to toss in insults that have nothing to do with the person's actions whatsoever. >_<
