Diabties undiagnosed for a long while...

Y'know, I was beginning to think that's what it was. I saw a few notes between him a a friend of his on another user page. He had been complaining about pain in his feet and legs, which automatically made me think of diabetes.

His Diabetes was controlled, and then he called me about 2 weeks ago, like he always does, and he said he was having major problems with control. I told him to get to the doctor.
He always called us almost every week to "check in" with us.

This is so sad and I just can't believe it.

Yes. I really recalled at the Anime Weekend Atlanta that he was having pain in his legs and was taking some meds for it. I never thought it got that serious until today :{

I know he was a dibetic, and has been recovering form a cold for the last 2 days. He whent to sleep peacefully last night as well.

I did not know his as well as most of your, but his artwork was truly fantastic, I loved every time i saw a new submission. His art will be missed, and from what I read he was a great guy, friend, roommate and more. He will be missed and my deepest condolences to you, his family and those who knew him well and were close too. I do not plan on ever removing him from my watch list unless plans are that you will be asking the Fa staff to remove his stuff. There have been other artist on my list who have sadly passed away or just are unknown status. I pay homage to them by refusing to remove them. If there is anything positive about his sad passing is it was in his sleep. He did not suffer.

May he be honored, respected and always remembered for all he has shared not just with his art, but everyone who he has touched on a personal level.

I am sorry to hear this news, its bums me out indeed, despite not knowing him really, i knew him here as a talented artist, a friendly person who watched me, and commented on some of my stuff, journals, and shouts, and someone who i enjoyed having around FA, among such.

Its sad he's gone, may he R.I.P, i remember hearing/reading he was going through some rough spots in life at times with housing, and such if i recall, but it seems he had some good friends, and support even through those times it seems, so that's at least a positive note to put up, as well as he passed peacefully away in sleep, rather then in pain and agony awake, i hope his family and friends cope well, among his tragic lost, Rest in peace Russell, you'll be missed.

I knew him very, very briefly as Alexander-Decker on Tapestries, I remember how flattered I was to hear that he was going to be working on a project that I'd be appearing in even though we'd only talked for all of five minutes! It was the first time anyone had actually shown that much appreciation for anything that I'd worked on, and I think he had a way about him of making people feel special about themselves. From what I saw he made a good impression on everyone that he met, and I'm glad to have had the chance to meet him before he had to leave us.

I wish I knew what to say beyond that, but I think others can do a better job of that than me.

This is terrible news. I'd just talked to Rusty on the phone, a couple of days ago, and we were so excited about new plans for his work.

I feel awful now that his dreams for his comics will never be realized now. This is all so sudden. And so horribly sad.

Man, seeing someone die so suddenly is never an easy thing to accept. It just reminds us all that even if you don't have any existing medical conditions, the fact remains that when your number is up, you go whether you want to or not.

I have it, so someday thats going to be me. My own diabetes went unnoticed for, well, who knows... Seriously people, a little testing machine doesn't cost much and they dont hurt too much anymore, really think about picking one up or getting tested occasionaly by your doctor, because it really can just sneak up on you.
Still, from what I've heard, going quickly like this, you just dont know anything about it so its not a bad way to go really.
At least he kept his vision to the end, and shared with us.

i'm upset i just now found out (since i made my new profile and forgot to add him to my watch list), but I've been watching him for some time on my previous one. He had awesome art and seemed like a great, down to earth guy when i talked to him here and there.

I still don't know what to say to this. Except to offer my condolences and join my sorrow to that of others.

I counted Rusty as my friend. I wanted to meet him. He was always kind to me, and I tried to do be the same way in return.

So sorry dude :( I heard about this through my roommate, and I didn't know another user had lived with him. From the few times I talked to him, he was a pretty amazing person and its a shame you had to lose him.
