Colorado Howl'o'Ween party (to rave or not to rave?)
16 years ago
EDIT
NEW LOCATION! We are now being hosted at the Highlands Masonic temple!
3550 N Federal Blvd
Denver, CO 80211-2802
This is a for sure venue this time-- They know us and have hosted us before. Information below has been updated. Also the time is extended.
So, if you haven't read the Colofurs yahoo group, you might not know that I am having the Colorado Furry Halloween party hosted at an assembly hall near Denver.
Every year everyone seems to have a lot of fun and this event seems to be pretty drama-free (at least during the event... it did really suck when, a few weeks later, Eclipse and Tal got run out of town because our event opened the ever-so-discriminating eyes of the people of Lyon's Colorado).
The one problem I see with it being at a large assembly hall, is that the DJs of the fandom really want this event to be more of a rave with loud dance music, where as not everyone is into that and would maybe like a more relaxed setting or just ambient halloween music that doesn't interfere with conversation. At least, I've notice that most people aren't out on the dance floor and away from loud music when we do have DJs. What are your thoughts?
And for the rest of the journal--
This is the information that I posted to the list in case you are interested in coming and haven't seen it:
The annual Colorado Howl-o-Ween party is back for 2009!
(What)
When: 6pm - 12pm, Saturday October 31st, 2009
Who: Everyfur who wants to have their fur stand on end
How much: $5 per person (if you can't afford it, let me know and I will cover you)
Why: Bob has spoken.
Where: 3550 N Federal Blvd, Denver, CO 80211-2802 (whole East side block of Federal from 3500 - 3600)
Come dressed to scare little kids, or to squick grown ones, and prepared
to have lots of fun at the annual Colorado Furry Community Halloween party!
We have rented an extremely spacious Mason's Temple in the middle of Denver Highlands. THey have hosted us before, and are probably not being fake with us about being accepting of our group.
The event will be a pot luck-- so please bring brains, food, drinks, and
desert (perferrably cut up/set up as hors d'oeuvres) so we may feast! If
you really want to contribute to the cause, please bring a main dish or
be a volunteer to help with setup/breakdown.
Please let your furiends know about the party, especially if they don't
read the list.
If you would like to volunteer with decorating, setting up a few chairs,
playing music, hosting some sort of table, or other requests, then
please email me with fritz@furrypride.com. If you would like to help
with breakdown and cleanup, please stick around until after we call it a
night.
We will have limited access to amenities in the kitchen. Use of one of the ovens and the ice machine is granted. There is also a dedicated smoking area off to the left of the front door.
There will not be a bar (don't start one) and alcohol will not be
served. Though if you are of age and responsible, it is not a problem
if you drink.
Like a few years ago, there will be a creepy old guy
in the corner playing security guard--he is required to be there. His
name is John--feel free to say hi to him and know that he was very friendly with us last time.
Please respect the property and be responsible.
Save $5 bills now so we don't have to mess with breaking large bills
when you get there. We request $5 to help cover the cost of renting the
hall
Thank you and hope everyone has a good time!

Maybe even consider having a certain time frame for dancing and raving and then the rest of the night could be mellow music and such, ya know?
Have fun with that!
The Lyons party was a lot of fun. Too bad ignorant people don't listen to reason from the opposing side, all the time.
~~~Fusion (the loony hyena)
You'd think they'd have been cooler about our party, seeing that they have a town celebration on Halloween.
and you might see me and a few others there! :3
We are fortunate to have a second room this year! It is a somewhat sizable lounge area, a decent distance from the main hall (underneath the main doors). The layout with the Temple is this year is going to be way better than just the one-room-deal I was originally expecting with the Sons of Norway.
how many are expected to show up so far?
I was once standoffishly shy too, and people still notice that in me today sometimes. If you can muster up a bit of courage to talk to people or complement people on things, esp other shy people, it can be well worth the effort. Sure made my first furry con experience of around 400 furs much more fun.
I am guessing around 60-70 people, and I am very uncertain on that number.
i should find my tuxedo t-shirt for this occasion xÐ i like to think it says "i want to be formal, but i am here to party!"
i should do fine though. hell, if i get some black pants i can come as the punisher xÞ
The punisher sounds like a good idea, or maybe would be a good time to take advantage of that shirt ;P
