RELAXINGDRAGON1'S SUPER-SPECIAL HALLOWEEN CONTEST!!
General
That's right, super-special. Better than pretty-special, enjoyably-special, and even super-duper-special (but not uber-special. My bad there, this being about a week late). That's enough for all caps and even an extra exclamation point, but no whatever-*-are-called. Which is pretty good, I think.
To step away from the filler, yes, I'm having a Halloween Contest this year. Oh, sorry.
There, even underlined it for you. Anyway, it's something I've been meaning to do for a while (definitely a contest, if not one that's specifically Halloween-related). Given that this is the first such contest I have ever attempted, there are naturally some kinks to work out. If anything seems off or amiss, by all means bring it up with me. Whatever helps smooth the system out the better.
Alright, let's get to the meat.
Rules: This one is easy enough. Simply describe something Halloween-related to me. Could be what the holiday means to you, personal recollection of some event that happened on some October the 31st years ago, a spooky story, whatever. You can do it however you want; comment post, note, drawing, some use of sound, interpretive dance, semaphore, whatever.
The only real content rule: It just needs to be centered on Halloween.
The more effort and creativity you put in, the better (and really, that's true for everything in life). Given that I recognize my small stature on this site (going all caps only takes me so far), I'm going to need to get some kind of active participation in this to make it worth having. Therefore the contest will only go on if I get at least 8 entries (from different people), all of them showing at least a little effort. So a little blurb of a comment isn't going to cut it. Should there be less than 8 but the people involved put a genuine, recognizable effort into things, then I'll be lenient and go ahead. Should I get no interest at all (always a very real possibility), then that's that, can't say I didn't try, I'll give it another whirl in a year.
So, you know... tell your friends. Please.
I'll be accepting entries from now until midnight on Saturday, October 24th. Then I'll pick my favorites, and that'll be that.
Right, that's the fine print out of the way. Now here's the fun part, the part that actually makes people interested in jumping through my hoops. That's right, the fabulous prizes! :D
Prizes:
1st Prize - First prize is a lovely little Halloween Movie Fun Pack I've put together (come on, it's me, what else would it be?). The winner of this little whatchamacallit will receive:
-1 copy of Trick 'r Treat on DVD
-1 full sized one-sheet for Trick 'r Treat (that's the 27x40 inch size)
-1 copy of Halloween (the original) on DVD
-1 copy of The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack
-2 free movie tickets to any Regal Entertainment Group movie theater (that's Regal Cinemas, United Artists Theaters, and Edwards Theaters)
-Whatever else I come up with to throw in here (which will definitely be other things, just thinking on the spot at the moment. Probably me paying for a commission from an artist. Just need to find an artist interested).
Runner-up Prize -
-1 movie poster (one-sheet or 36x24) from a selection of titles (at the moment the choices are Let The Right One In, The Midnight Meat Train, 1408, and a few others. I'll know better once I go through all my posters)
-2 randomly selected horror movies on DVD. These will probably not be ones I've already mentioned in my movie recommendations, though definitely lesser-known (but still good) titles
-Whatever else I come up with to throw in here
Alrighty, that's that. Like I said, any questions, feel free to ask. Best of luck to everyone, and fingers crossed for a good reception for this thing.

Hmm, I need to be more popufur, hook folks into this *wanders off to ponder*

Well, I take that back, I guess I could see it. You could go ahead and enter it if you wish. Still too early to tell if there's going to be enough interest for me to continue, of course.
I'm assuming you'll allow blood and gore in drawings?
And tell your friends! Still need another 5 entries in here...
(does that imply that if I don't enter, I win your ass?)
Best just enter and not risk it for either of us.
