Oh Jesus, even Dragoneer got on me for this? Wake up, now.

Let me show you a little site about a small fur-con that recently came out and is being attacked: http://www.foxmas.com/
So, a group of furs that had a yearly Christmas house party decide to move it to a hotel and treat it like a small convention. Instead of treating it as a family event were alcohol and public kissing is banned due to the effect it will have on the kiddies, they decided to make it adults only. We're talking legal adults here, 18+ only.
Suddenly people are posting journals saying what a horrible thing this is and how this will literally kill out fandom with the public fursuit sex, ect.
I didn't make anything of it my concern, as I THOUGHT some of us on the site would be mature enough to actually read the fine print before coming to an uproar. Acually, I was the first to know, other then Dragoneer, and when he posted a journal (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/991076/) on his FA page talking about it, asking me
"Did you even read that? That was 30 seconds from the time I posted it."
I replied: "Im afraid so, I really have no comment on such things. It doesn't really pertain to me."
Well, now I am afraid I'm going to have to explain it so that there is no confusion.
"FOXmas will be the first overtly ADULT furry convention. That does NOT mean that we will tolerate public nudity, yiffing in convention spaces, etc."
There will always be people that attend conventions, and have sex there. Its what differen't "creatures" on this planet do. (Except, not all of them at a con of some sort) Also, it happens in the hotel rooms, not in the convention space.
So, assuming that everyone whining about this "The most important Furry event in history!" part, simply enough need to calm down. It's just a title typed out on a keyboard. No special graphics or anything, just text, probably Times New Roman as well.
So why is it okay for a socially accepted night club to have these rules, yet when a group of furs want to do the same thing, it's suddenly a bad thing?
This group wants to allow drinking and not have to walk through fire for the safety of children around. That's all... Yet some people here are acting like the media "they hate" (I never found out why) by making assumptions and damning the con for being a free-for-all furry sex orgy convention.
Like Wookie said inside of his post: "Maybe they should be working for the media that has no interest in accepting the fandom as anything normal since that is not news-worthy."
In the end, maybe it is best that this con is adults only, then we wouldn't have these children being there to make what they said become true.
As for the con, as for any con, I would love to see everyone have a great time, and it to work out well. Those attending the con, have a good time, and don't make alcohol an excuse for things you regret in the morning.
Sly Fox is off to get his remaining hours of sleep, excuse me.
