Earth Eternal is a new MMORPG developed by Sparkplay Media. It was first announced on January 10, 2007 and by October 13, 2009 It reached the Open Beta Stage. It is a Free2Play game with the option to players to buy items with real money; although everything that can be bought can be earned free just by playing longer. The game is comparable to Runescape as it shares many elements of gameplay, and the fact that it is a Graphical Browser Game.
Set in a fantasy world, Earth Eternal combines real world history, legends, myths with original creations. The world is a distorted version of our Earth, initially Europe, where many landmarks has been now inhabited with beasts, ancient Gods and other creatures and beings of legend. Gaia, the Earthmother, foresaw that the humans where going to destroy her beloved beasts, so she moved them to the Groves, home to the beastdom outside of the reality as we know it. Mankind's technology and might spurted without limits and then after a never seen before war, it destroyed itself with weapons of primal force. The Earth was regenerated by the Gods and little by little the beasts and nature reclaimed the planet, getting ready to fight an ancient pending battle against an evil threat that came out of this world.
The game has 22 races, none has differences regarding stats or advantages and flaws in certain areas (gender doesn't affect either). The developers created a huge and wide variety of creatures and races to interact and fight with, instead of the classic humans, elves and dwarfs that seems to plague the fantasy genre. We have the Anura (frogs), Atavian (birds), Bandicoon (raccoons), Bounder (rabbits), Broccan (badgers), Caprican (rams/sheeps), Clockwork (constructs), Cyclops, Daemon (demons), Fangren (wolves), Felines (cats), Foxen (foxs), Grumkin (goblins), Hart (stags/deers), Lisian (geckos), Longtail (rats), Noctari (owls), Sylvan (treefolks), Taurian (bulls/cows), Tusken (boar), Ursine (bear) and Yeti. The character customization level is high, including body shape, height, colors and clothes.
From here you can pick from between 4 classes: Knight Rouge, Mage and Druid. Every one of these act like one would expect, giving the basic abilities to fit the roles, but Earth Eternal gives a more flexible approach allowing you to mix and match your skills with some of the others' class skills that are not your main class.
Install is quick because the game content downloads on the fly while you are playing. As the game is still in Beta, some bugs are expected, but they will be fixed at the same time as the game gets new areas and gameplay options. The game is now public, everybody can play and the characters are permanent.
The minimum requisites will lower while the game gets more optimizations and compatibility checks, but by October 13, 2009 they are:
· Windows XP or newer (Mac OS and Linux in development)
· Intel Pentium III 1.7 MHz
· 1 GB of RAM (1.5 GB for Windows Vista and 7 with Aero enabled)
· 128 MB 3D Video Card with Pixel Shader 2.0 support
· DirectX 9 or newer
· 3 GB free HD space
· Broadband Internet connection
This game is really good, taking into account that it was made by a small company with only a $4 million budget. It needs some improvement but the result is nice. Look for a Foxen called Rusuko Isutari, that's me :3
