New Journal
Posted 7 years agoSo uhm, I changed to a new phone back in February and I couldn't remember the password for this FA account so I couldn't log back into FA and so have not been able to enjoy the full glories of this website but tonight I did the password recovery thing and now I'm back!
I had a lot of unseen submissions before and now I have 84361. Gonna try and look through a few
So what's been going on??? I did ConFuzzled. It was warm and exhausting and actually amazing. And also generally hanging out with the fandom as ever. Hope you're all doing well?

Posted 8 years agoThe year 2016 as you are fully aware has been a majestic shitshow in terms of geopolitics. It's been depressing in many ways but personally it has been very good in some.
I went to 3 cons this year, all 3 of the UK cons. 2016 has been the year I offically became crew for two of the cons and fulfilled a longstanding desire to do con work and put something back into the fandom that has given me so much.
Art wise, I have drawn almost nothing this year which is a disappointment. I've lost the will to even try as it ends up frustrating and never how I'd like it. I did however comission some great stuff, and also recieved some wonderful gift art... now of course including Tealby who feels like a great second charcter and not just a fursuit.
Of course one of the huge fandom moments of this year has been the release of Zootropoloplipiapis, the film about anthrompopmorphic animuls. The fandom was very excited. I was excited. I went to the cinema and as the film played out I sat at the edge of my seat and felt levels of excitement I'd not felt since I was a kid. The film lived up to expectations. Try Everything has become a minor Furry anthem, and that childlike feeling pretty much sums up how the fandom makes me feel. A liberation from the dark world out there. As 2017 begins and we head into an extremely uncertain future, it is reassuring to know that we can spend some time liberated from the shitey mess and escape with each other. Thankyou.

i am going to go and have a jefty
Posted 9 years agoSo i meant to write one of those Review of 2015 journals
And then I meant to write a journal about four years in the fandom
But then didn't do anything because I always forgot and fell asleep instead, after a hard day of monotonous repetitive (metaphorical) faceplant in a grey cuboid by the motorway out at the edge of the city
But I'm doing a journal now because soon it is a JFTW, a new quite promising endeavour near Bristol to which I'm excited to be going. So here is the meme that's been copied and pasted so many times it's lost all self identity.
1. What is your gender?
Scarecrow
2. How old are you?
Twelvety
3. How tall are you?
33
4. Are you in a relationship?
No. You interested?
5. Where are you staying?
the hotel
6. What day are you getting there?
Friday, at some point
7. How are you traveling?
Unsure as yet though there are kind offers of lifts
8. Who will you be with?
No idea. Won't know many there.
9. Do you have art in the art auction?
Have a look at some of my drawings. I think its for the best that my art isn't anywhere near Bristol
10. What suit(s) will you have?
The one with the beak
11. Can I dance with you?
If i start to dance?
12. Can I touch you?
Um
if you like
13. Can I talk to you?
Yes. My hearing is terrible though so preferably somewhere without much background noise and SPEAK UP
14. Can I hug and/or snuggle you?
I refer you to answer to question twelve
15. Can I take photos of you/with you?
I prefer in suit, as I'm better looking that way.
[This was SFWs answer and I'm not even going to change it as it applies perfectly]
16. Can I buy you lots of drinks?
I don't drink but yes
17. Do you drink Alcohol/Smoke?
I don't do either
18. Can I give you lots of money?
Yes
19. Can we hang out?
Yes. I think. Who are you.
20. Where will you be most of the time during the con?
I don't actually know. I've never done this smaller con before. If the shower in the room is good then i'll be in the shower a lot because the shower here at home is bloody terrible.
21. Who are you rooming with?
I have
arcticsteve , not sure if I'll see him much though.
22. Attending any events?
My proposed panel on Pat Butcher and her earrings got turned down (seriously, big mistake guys) and I have no interest in anything furry related. Wait. Did I register for the wrong convention
23. How can I find you at the con?
Broken glasses and long hair, or blue thing with yellow beak
24. Are you doing anything in line with the theme?
No, other than showing off my superpower of lingering near people eating so they might give me bits of food
25. What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
3-0

Happy New Ye.... never mind
Posted 10 years ago2014 summary thing, mainly because I'm tired of the previous journal constantly being there.
In all 2014 was a bit boring. I was unemployed for most of it: lack of income meant not many exciting things to do. I also went to numerous furmeets and ConFuzzled and looked after two cats in Bracknell for a fortnight.
Finally found employment at the beginning of December and after being on Jobseekers Allowance I feel like a frigging millionaire. I got excited and bought wetherspoons meals galore but now I shall be saving for things (explained later).
The most significant thing that happened was in fact my mother dying. She'd always been quietly resilient and dependable. I feel blessed to say that we got on well, there were no unresolved issues between us and I had by chance travelled back and seen her just a week before her unexpected departure.
She wanted the family to be happy, always, and guess what, the fandom makes me happy, so you're fulfilling her wish. Also the gentle enquiry, company and consolation I got from various of you in the time after her death was really appreciated.
Thanks to being very local to the ConFuzzled venue I was able to attend as a non resident. was a fantastic time, but could have been a lot better as I held myself back in a few regards. Forward planning, and just generally being more social would have made it an amazing time. I hope to have enough money to be able to be residential at this year's CF for the first time although there's not much time left to do that... Will feel odd staying at a hotel ten miles away but it sucks a lot to have to leave every day.
Fursuit wise, my suit is in decent condition for it's age and still has a lot of life yet. However I intend to save towards a V2, a fullsuit. The Mercury suit is adorable and i love him but a fullsuit has always been my aim some day, and it excites me to consider a new form. Also I have on permanent loan a big blue otter. Wonderful to hug people in him :3
Art wise, I didn't do much in 2014. Also lack of income has meant I didn't comission anyone (I know this shouldn't stop me but...) But there's been a few wonderful furs who've given me free art, including on a starbucks cup and on a potato. Bless y'all. And then not forgetting the birthday gift art at the end of 2014 from a filthy wolf which at long last means there's now (proper actual) porn of griffin yiffin out there for all to see.
I'm looking forward to 2015 fpr various reasons and i hope you can be a part of it and that your year is also a goodun. The world is looking a bit fucked up right now so to have the fandom to escape to at times is a great blessing.

hello
Posted 11 years agoa journal
Meant to write one just after confuzzled as the standard Post-CF wootspasm but i didn't get round to it.
Now, two months later I can look back on it and... yeah, my feelings immediately after it were pretty accurate. I didn't have a bad time there and there are many parts of it that stick in my mind as great fun and i got to know some great furs, but I didn't make as much of CF as I could have.
I spent too much time inadvertently alone. I was too afraid to get involved in things, or to talk to ace people. Didn't help that the hotel wasn't configured in a way that aided socialising. People just... disappeared into it. It had dark corridors of total mindfuck confusion, and lacked the fantastic outdoors social space of the Hinckley Island, not that we couldve used it much because of the weather.
In other news, a death in the close family last month (yeah this journal is pretty fucking happy) meant I had to miss some meets, but it also meant I could unexpectedly attend another Scunthorpe Meet. It gratifies me that these happen, considering that a year ago i didn't even know there were furs in Scunthorpe. They're testament to what can happen if we seek each other out locally and create smaller, friendly, meets to get to know each other outside of the larger stressful gatherings, which I'm sure i'm not alone in finding difficult socially.
*rifles through confused notes* erm yeah, er...
ART! I haven't drawn for a bit, and finances are not stable enough to comission anything right now, and boost my fur credentials, but you furs occasionally give me fantastic free art, including recently a glorious rampant gryph on a paper starbucks cup.
For my next comission when it comes, i'm thinking of something... dirtier. Awful, yes.
Lastly it was a real privelige to be asked to a furry house gathering last weekend... fantastic time all round, with enjoyable suiting and prolonged snugs. Left with a warm afterglow on the Monday, and that my friends is what the fandom is about <3

Posted 11 years agoHELLO
I COPIY AND PASTED THIS FROM
GAMEPOPPER AND IT APPEARS THIS YEAR I HAVEN'T COPY AND PASTED ONE WHICH HAS A QUESTION ABOUT BEING GROPED IN FURSUIT, SO THAT'S GOOD.
:
CFz MEME!

What day are you getting there?
i'm not really sure. Thursday? I said somewhere i'd help lift things in during the setup of the con
Who will you be with?
No idea. Mostly Local West Midlands furs i think. Whoever doesn't make it blatant that they want me to fuck off.
Do you have art in the art show?

What suit(s) will you have?
The radiant blue catbird.
Can I dance with you?
I don't dance
How about DDR? no
Can I touch you?
Are you Saladfingers?

Can I hug you?
Yuou cannot hug, you are a meme (yes)

Sure, I'd like to make new friends, just don't be creepy. LEAVING GAMEPOPPERS ANSWER RIGHT HERE
Where will you be most of the time during the con?
Having been to see the labrynthine and monumental hotel last Thursday, probably lost in an orange tinted corridor somewhere, questioning existence
Who are you rooming with?
Myself, in my own room in my house (see above)
Attending any events?
I dunno yet. The suit parade for sure, not looked at any others anywhere.
How can I find you at the con?
I'll be the one that looks like a bespectacled dishevelled nerd.
Either that or look for the blue griffin (not the blue bird, that'll be
solarlay )
Are you doing anything in line with the theme?
No. I couldn't think of anything in keeping with the theme, it does not move me.

New Journal from a loving catbird
Posted 11 years agoNowt to say really.
2014 so far has been a lot less shit than 2013. I'm now on the dole, which having had no income for a while feels like being a fucking millionaire.
Last Tuesday was the second anniversary of the random chance sighting of fursuiters in Birmingham City Centre, which prompted an interest in finding out more, and ultimately joining local furmeets and aquiring a suit(which had been a desire for years). It's a strange world here. There's points even now I stop and look and go "erm, that's all a bit... weird". But i would not swap out of here for anything.
SUITED twice so far this year: Once on a visit to the Lincoln meet on the 8th on the way up to see my parents, which was a good afternoon in a church hall with really friendly furs. And then the Birmingham meet just gone which was good fun.
MCM COMICON THINGY is happening at the NEC in March. Apparently it's this big event where lots of nerds go buy nerdy things and get autographs from nerd heroes, and dress up in "cosplay" and look fucking rudiculous, so I might go and join them in suit : >
CONFUZZLED seems to have got you all excited already. What with a lack of income, I simply cannot afford to pay that much
HOWEVER, I live twelve miles from the CF Venue, which means going on an Attending Only ticket is eminently easy. The Hilton Birmingham Metropole is a ten minute bus ride, ten minute walk, ten minute train ride, and then a five minute walk from my front door.
The Hinckley Island Hotel was in fact nearer to my house, but the public transport to get there was a lot less frequent.
well. i managed to say nowt in a lot of words
If you've read all that shit then God bless, you really don't have much to do.

Things
Posted 12 years agoA journal. Mainly to knock the Post-ConFuzzled journal off of this page because it's largely irrelevant and I'm tired of seeing the enthusiasm.
I have been out of a job for nearly two months now. These unbelievably cheap noodles which once tasted remarkably nice for the price have begun to get mundane. The internet and online fandom has been good for distraction purposes but there's always the lingering feeling that I've made a diversion off of the grand road of Life and am at present sat in a cul-de-sac
But there's being a griffin. That's not too bad nonetheless.

A ConFuzzled Brainfart just for you
Posted 12 years agoI could write for hours about ConFuzzled. It was that good.
Instead I shall TRY and say a few short brief things. It was the first con I had ever been to. It was a definitely very different atmosphere as evidenced by my tweets on the first day "This is all very very weird" and "I have no idea what is going on??".
Was amazed by the AMOUNT of furries. I thought I knew a lot of furries. Nope. I know barely any. Where the hell did they all come out of to wander around the corridors with all their conbadges and exuberance? I did feel like a very small fish in that big aquarium for much of the con.
Not to say it wasn't a fantastic experience.
I laughed so very hard at a lot of things. Constructing our Frankensuit was what got me going the most. I realised our team had excelled when Deezlberries had to ask which way round the frankensuiter was standing. A spider baby was born, complete with teabag ears.
The Fursuit Fiasco was also sidesplitting. I made some short video of the Musical Chairs and showed it to some non furries, perplexed is not the word.
beginning to babble here so I shall try and sum things up in a word. Inspiration.
Seeing so much superb art has inspired me to pick up a pen and start drawing again to improve.
Seeing the wealth of fantastic fursuits has inspired me to plan for and aim to aquire a full suit in the future.
The acting in suit has been brilliant to watch; a reminder that I am rusty and need to get good at it again!
And lastly but not least it has inspired me to generally get more involved with different meets and facets of the fandom, to know more furries and share their creativity.
Thanks must go firstly to the crew and volunteers of the whole con whose tireless work made it all run brilliantly, and for those great endeavours of specific care and attention for us like the most majestic Ceilspec Fursuit drier!!
The hotel staff were also great though I did not see much of them as I was not resident there.
The photographers who gratified my inner fursuiter attention whore by coming and taking pictures
The MidFurs for being around for a great time, and the many others I talked at and lurked with
That is about it I think. Going to begin saving for CF2014 asap.

St Georges Day
Posted 12 years agoIt's St Georges Day. He was the patron saint of England. So do we celebrate? We sort of shrug, wave a flag a bit, and once again point out he wasn't of this country, never came to this country, and generally had bugger all to do with this country.
Which is true. He didn't. Also, the words of our patriotic hymn, Jerusalem, repeatedly ask if Jesus visited England at some point between all the cripple healing and mass catering. Like fuck he did. The words to Jerusalem were written as a satirical poem!
But then I take notice of the sentiments of Jerusalem. I don't intend to literally build Jerusalem here, but I do my best to build this country, to make it better, the best it can be.
So here's to England. You have supported, nurtured and provided me with much to be grateful for. Including this fucking silly surname, i mean really

An Update
Posted 12 years agoRecently things have not been good for me. Hold the sympathy - for the most part, I;ve done it to myself. There have been really regrettable decisions, which have lead to a lot of mistrust, hurt and pain.
But then, somehow there's been a number of you who have still been there for me, despite all the shit I have caused. These individuals who have had to deal with intrusive and devious shitstirring from potentially damaging sources... who have been there for the ones I damaged: I cannot thank you enough. I've never been shown such loyalty, and when/if the time comes you'll be getting the same back from me.
So, onwards and upwards. To the one who has inexplicably let me back into his life and forgiven me: I'll do my damndest to support you in any way I can.

Posted 13 years agoSo a month ago I recieved a box by special delivery. It contained a gryphon. A mythical creature brought to life in an anthropomorphic form by hours of magical work with fur, foam, carving, sewing and floofing.
Major thanks to
madebyMercury, a long held dream of fursuiting has come true, and I want to thank her for her work in making it happen. I have worn him three times in public now (Birmingham main meet 29/9/12, LFM 13/10/12 and Birmingham mini meet 27/10/12) and now I'm used to the physical restrictions of the suit I have begun to really enjoy suiting.
I had been intrigued by fursuiting for years, and after coming into the fandom properly I chose a birdy sort of creature... not fully appreciating how rare they might be in fursuit form. The lack of practice suitmakers gets with birdfaec and the relatively small amount of birdsuits out there meant I really didn't know what to expect. But damn, I wasn't disappointed. a real toony face and yellow beak, captures derp so nicely.
In a way I'm also grateful to Ernst and Young for the redundancy pay which enabled me to buy the suit despite having no income.
And thankyou to all you I've seen around and about... the ones i've bumped into and trodden on whilst getting used to suiting, and the photographers who capture all the gooning around wonderfully.
Lastly, I really appreciate all your really positive comments about the suit! (And special mention for those Londonfurs who confused the hell out of me by asking if I was Pete from Housepets)
Naturally all glory should go to Mercury the maker
And now to go wander around a bit more and hopefully find some wings...

My first journal: Six months in the Fandom proper
Posted 13 years agoWell Hello.
I'm going to regard this as a six month anniversary of my first involvement with the fandom properly, which I feel is a good time to write a journal about it all.
In short, I was sat in Victoria Square in Birmingham when I had the smal mindfuck of seeing some rather unusual animals wandering through. After some analysis I came to the exciting conclusion that there are actually furries right there in Birmingham- I'd always assumed fursuiting just didn't happen here. This spurred me into doing a bit of googling and I discovered the UKFur forums where indeed the meet had been arranged.
And I joined UKFur, and got involved and actually managed to overcome the shit scariness and come to a meet and NOW YOU SHALL NEVER GET RID OF ME, MIDFURS!!
But in all seriousness, I used to lurk on the forums and I'd see the group pictures that went up after every coffee meet and I'd think to myself how fucking epic it would be to actually go and meet these people, and know them as friends. Going to meets was damn scary at first. I was about to attend one coffee meet when I actually hid behind a pillar at Birmingham New Street, stalked you all at the meeting point, and then hurriedly fucked off in the other direction to catch a train back to Coventry!
I can't express how happy I am to have gone and actually got to know you all... seriously. It's so gratifying to now appear on the picture next to you all acting like specials. It still makes me damn happy to turn up to a meet and be genuinely welcomed. So a fuckton of thanks to all the MidFurs. All your weird. All your acceptance. All your hugging. All your mindfuck. All your fur. All your mentos and coke.
And so you are probably wondering about me.
I shall tell you a bit about me even though you don't fucking want to know.
I was born on the 30th of December 1986 in Scunthorpe General Hospital, and spent the first nineteen years of my life growing up in a small, quiet town in rural North Lincolnshire. My dad was a civil engineer and my mum was a dinnerlady, both now retired. They were originally from Luton.
I was an odd child (no shit?!?!). I wouldn't eat anything at school apart from carrots and had an obsession with clocks and watches. I wanted to know how they worked. I wanted to know how many things worked, and so developed passing obsessions with things like lifts, ferries, and toilets (wtf?). The clocks and watches werre an ongoing obsession though, and still are.
I started bellringing when I was 11. It provided me with something to obsess over in a much more detailed fashion which I do to this day. I like bells.
I first realised I was gay on a school trip to the Isle of Arran. No, nothing happened like that . Essentially the thought process ran: "Bloody hell, Anderson has a nice body, his abs are fucking brillia...... OH WAIT I'M A HOMO"
I decided at that very point that no one would know about my homosexuality and that it would go to the grave with me. Going well so far I think.
I didn't like school. I am easily distracted and spent ages on schoolwork which took my classmates half the time. I still have these sort of problems which is why there's no real structure to this journal, and it's taking me a supidly long time to write.
I like buses. The abilty to sit and watch the world pass by while daydreaming, people watching, eavesdropping on conversations/nutters talking to themselves, i like it. Public transport networks, fuck yeah.
I used to daydream about moving away somewhere like Nottingham or Lincoln or even Hull until a ringing friend contacted me wanting to know if i was interested in a house share in Coventry. I said yes without much thought and as time went on didn't manage to tell him that actually i'd been a bit quick with my decision and that after consideration I felt staying put was the best option. I think moving to Coventry was the probably best thing I ever did.
ERRM that is about it, I think. Any questions? Do ask.
