I am planning on buying some new headphones to replace my aging and slightly broken Shure SHR-550DJ headphones.

Based on some online reviews and price comparisons, I've narrowed my choices down to three:

Audio Technica ATH-M50x - $249 @ BestBuy

V-Moda Crossfade LP2 - $155 @ Amazon

Sennheiser HD-558 - $199 on sale @ East Hamilton Radio

The good news is I can go to EHR to test them out (wall of headphones). Dunno about the Audio Technica phones at Best Buy, and I have no idea where to buy V-Moda's locally. My friend DJ Recca SWEARS by his V-Moda M100's, and they are just $380 upgraded versions of the Crossfade LP2's.

My budget was $250, so either of these will do. Considering the negative reviews on the Sennheiser phones regarding "poor bass" and the "great bass" on the ATH and V-Moda's, I'm probably going to go with one of those two.

I have some time to figure it out...

Hey folks,

So I was planning on buying some new headphones to DJ with. I've had my SHURE SRH550DJ headphones since 2011 and all though they are nice, they aren't over-ear or noise-cancelling, and the cable is wonky. If the cable near the plug bends the wrong way it cuts the left, right, or both channels.

In lieu of possibly performing at MFF in December, and just plain wanting a new set of headphones in general, I am initially looking at those AudioTechnica headphones that Sol, Raverfox, and most of my friends have. They retail for about $249 everywhere.

With that as a budget I am sure that I could get something just as good, or better, for the same price. Ones that might fit my ears better, sound better, etc etc. Sony, Sennheiser, etc.

I don't know a lot about headphones so I'd really like some advice. $250 is my budget, though I am willing to budge plus or minus that to get something good. I mean, I got 5 years out of my decent, $99 pair of SHURE phones. I'm sure I'll get 5-10 out of a good, well built pair of phones from a better company.

Ideas? Opinions?

Just peeking online at the hotels around the main hotel for MFF. Since the hotel is booked solid, I am going to book my own room in one of the overflow hotels and hope that I can find a room elsewhere. Either way I will have a room, one that I can potentially share with someone else and split the cost.

Trouble is, hovering over the hotels on Google Maps shows the rates, and they range from $165 to $230 a night. FUCK! I really hope that the convention can arrange better rates.

So I am planning on going to MFF this year! Finally!

I'm getting my new passport next month, I have enough AirMiles for a free flight to Chicago, and will have lots of money saved up over the next 6 months. I am set! So excited to be going!

But... I need a room. That's the only piece of the puzzle that is missing. So I am asking if anyone has a room, hopefully from Thurs to Mon that weekend, with a space for a scruffy ol' wolf from Canada. I'm very clean and hygienic and friendly.

I've decided to make a new artist name, for when I start drawing again and putting more and more art online on a regular basis. Everyone out there has a fun, original name that sounds good. "cyberwulfe" comes back from like 1996 when I was heavily into Star Fox 64 and writing fanfiction and doing art based on the characters that I created. Cyberwulfe was named after his online presence (cyber) and the Focke Wulfe 190 German warplane from WWII. So Cyberwulfe was born.

But it sounds lame. I want something fun and Canadian and something that would be memorable (and maybe look good on a business card too).

So, I am pleased to introduce you to Canada's newest furry artist:  SwampDonkey.

PS: It's a nickname for a moose.

So... been thinking about drawing again. There are so many distractions though. I play a lot of SecondLife, and between that and work and other gaming, I don't budget a lot of time for myself. I used to draw a lot and work on my model cars and ships. Nowadays I spend a lot of time on my PC not doing much of anything.

After seeing Zootopia (twice) and the whole theme of "Try Everything" going around, I thought maybe it would be a good time to try my hand at drawing again. Because I quit drawing for stupid reasons. Shit-ass people wallowing in their popularity, dumping on people who don't get 500,000 page views and have less than a million followers. Trickling down into self-loathing and hating my own art so much that just thinking about drawing made me upset.

But really, fuck them. I need to focus on myself, what makes me happy, and what used to make me happy was drawing and making something fun and colourful. Because if I spend the rest of my life trying to impress a bunch of nobody fuckwit furry artists, then I'm wasting my life more than I am sitting on SecondLife all day.

So really, what do you guys think? I used to enjoy getting comments and hearing from you folks when I posted art. You are the reason why I kept drawing for so long before I quit. How about some more Khaki art?

Many thanks and well wishes to everyone who attended the con. It was a lot of fun this year! Got to hang out with a lot of good friends, got a really nice sketch from my friend Kiki (I don't have her FA), and managed to avoid my Montreal stalker all weekend. Who doesn't like a drama-free con?

If anyone has any photos or video of my performance at the Saturday night dance (11pm to midnight), please let me know! I'd really like to arrange to get some for a video montage or something. I kinda miss the fandom. I mean, ten years ago when there was less shit and drama and cock-wagging around. People could just be furs and enjoy this fun social group that we've got here without caring about popularity or who's sleeping with who or any of that nonsense.

Yes my FA page is dead. I just +Watch so I can download porn. It's gotten to the point where I don't even want to draw anymore because I don't want to be associated with all of the dumb fucks out there. The artists that really make things shitty for other people. And I could drop names here but I don't feel the need to make this any more TLDR than it already is.

I miss the time when I could just draw stuff because I enjoyed it. Because I was good at it. Because I felt such a rush of satisfaction when I finished a piece of art. That's completely gone now. I became so absorbed in this one small group of people/artists online that cared more about stats and pageviews and making money and filling 100 page sketchbooks every month. I don't even care about the art anymore. I really don't. I've lost the love and enjoyment and the talent has gone with it. I can't even doodle a sketch these days.

I wish I could see you fucks in person so I could put you in your place and tell you what shitty, awful people you are. You deserve it. I wish I could tell you how shitty you are and make you feel ASHAMED.

But I can't, and you won't. You don't care. I hope I never draw anything ever again, because the last thing I want my art to be is another smudge on a piece of paper than you can wag your dick at and tell everyone how much better you are than everyone else.

I just had a friend block me on Skype because he was acting weird. He was being weird and then told me he was just fooling around. I told him that it was hard to tell because he ALWAYS talks silly like that. He then insulted me and blocked me.

People these days are just so fucking stupid and one-dimensional. I quit playing SecondLife to get away from some of these people and now it's following me onto Skype (then again the person in question is someone that I met on SL).

And people wonder why I took down all of my stuff on FA and have been acting anti-social lately. I am really done with all of the stupid, selfish, self-cocksucking, "look at how many pageviews I have", one-dimensional nonsense going on.

If you don't want to be friends with me, unsubscribe quietly and don't make a big shit over it. Don't insult me and tell me it's my fault because I only bother to see one side of your personality (when it's all you ever show). If you don't want to be around me, just go. I won't make you stay.
