News just came through that starting in November, anmy new memberships bought via the iOS store will be hit with a 30% fee. Not sure if it is higher for the payee or takes a cut from the paid (knowing Apple, they'll probably try both), so whatever you do, stop using Paetron via any Apple products. iPhones, iPads, Macbooks, etc. More details at Patreon's site.

My first contact with furry fandom was at a furry party Mark & Rod at the Hotel San Diego during the first SD Comic Con I ever attended. Over the decades, I've met many friends whom I shared a link with. Lotta reasons to be glad he was around.

I've been messaged by Lia Graf that Jeff Mancebo aka Boojum aka Golden Poppy passed away last Thurs after a months long struggle with heart failure. She has no other details at this time. He was an early member of this fandom, and his absence will be felt deeply.

On systems like Discord or Telegram, there are easy ways to set up channels that only you can post to, that only have your art, and most of them don't do it. Even after setting up multiple channels that only let them post for other reasons. ಥ_ಥ

If I follow your artist account on a social media account, it's because I want to see is your art. It's nice that social media lets you share the work of others, and I certainly have found new artists this way, but I can't see what YOU do. Either set up another account on that site where it's just your own art, or get an account on a proper archival site: Weasyl, SoFurry, InkBunny, DA, FA, NBA, CIA...

(It'd be fucking hilarious if the CIA set up a furry archive. It could have accounts for all the Russian and Chinese furs. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ)

This is really sad, he helped me to found Palcomix 18 years ago (I know him since 2003)
This is really sad news

Over the years his health was declining, to the point of being hospitalized several times, I was supporting him by doing commissions for him, making fund raisers for paying his hospital bills and even creating portfolios to cover his duties with his clients. I invited him to come to my country in what he always described as the best days of his life. We always dreamed that he would come back someday, it is a tragedy.

He had Encephalopathy hepatic, as some of you know already, that caused him a lot of confusion and dizziness, disorientation, today he had a fall and hit his head, and seems to have had encephalopathy episode when it happened. When he was brought to the hospital he was already in serious condition.

He will be greatly missed by his family and me

I was an infrequent commissioner of his art, and enjoyed much of what he posted, as well as having fun watching him create new work over on Picarto. Condolences to his friends & family, he shall be missed.

They've announced an interest in using & selling NFTs. And their response to any legitimate complaints have been smug and condescending, so there's that lovely issue even if they do change their mind.

Going over all the things Mom & Dad built up over the years. Growing up during the Depression & WWII, they developed some rather finely honed hoarding instincts, which they passed down to us kids, though I've better at keeping things manageable than they were. But they'd buy a thing, lose it in the piles of other things, and end up buying it again. Sometimes in bulk. The Tyranny of Objects writ large.

Still looking for a new place to live in SoCal. My older siblings have suggested I live with them in Oregon, since it's so much nicer. Today's high in Portland, Oregon: 108F/42C. In my area: 94F/34C How's that working out for you, bunkies?

I've not the energy to explain all of my reasons, but I will say this:

1. None of them have to do with Lola Bunny.

2. A lot of them have to do with one of the non-LT characters in that trailer.

I reiterate, may they be thoroughly bescumbered.

Last year, my father died at age 86. Right now, my mother, age 87, is in the final stages of cancer. She's at home here, getting hospice care, but she's going to be gone before Spring is over. Life goes on.

The rest of my family is planning to eventually sell the home, and I can't fault them for it. Most of them live in Oregon, and those that live down here won't really have a place for me, and some of them have debts they would like to take care of before retirement. With so many of my friends in SoCal, I'd like to be able to stay here, though if a situation in NoCal pops up I'd be willing to take that as well. Once she's gone, I'll have a trust fund I'll be living off of, coupled with SSDI, so I can pay a share of the house expenses, and I don't have much more than one decent-size room (with closet) of possessions, and of course I'd be happy to do my part of the housework.

So if anyone reading this is looking for a SoCal/NoCal room mate, house mate, etc, or knows someone in that position, please get in touch. A note here on FA will get to me easily, and my e-mail is sgattuso at Gmail. I won't have to move immediately, but once Mom passes I'd like to find a place so that we can work on selling the house.
