Disney made a GOOD sequel?! - My Zootopia 2 Review
General | Posted a week agoWARNING: This may or may not contain spoilers!
Earlier this year I predicted which animated movie sequel was gonna be the best: The Bad Guys 2 or Zootopia 2. I originally went with The Bad Guys 2 since DreamWorks is better at making sequels; mostly their part 2s (ie Shrek 2, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, etc.) While Disney...not so much (mainly their theatrical films, not direct-to-video or Pixar films) In fact the last good sequel Disney did was The Rescuers Down Under way back in 1990!
Well, after watching both movies and as much as I love The Bad Guys 2...I have to say Zootopia 2 is the better sequel. I was surprised at how good it is. Everything about it is great from the animation, the voice acting, the characters, the story, even the music. I think I like the song "Zoo" better than "Try Everything". This movie did just about everything right. We got to explore a bit more of Zootopia and expand more on the relationship between Judy and Nick as partners. The emotional moments hit a lot harder this time around; especially towards the end. Plus there's a post credit scene that may or may not hint at what's to come in part 3.
So, yeah. Zootopia 2 was great. Can't wait to get it on Blu-Ray.
One more thing; did you notice that both The Bad Guys 2 and Zootopia 2 had snakes in them and that 2025, according to the Chinese calendar, is the year of the snake?
Coincidence? I think not!

Yet Another Long Overdue Life Update - 8/25 MFM Bound
General | Posted 3 months agoThis Labor Day weekend I'll be at Mephit Fur Meet. This year's gonna be different since the con's gonna be at a new hotel. The Vitality in Memphis. I'm gonna miss being at the Whispering Woods in Olive Branch. Hopefully the new place will be good to us. In spite of everything I've been going through this year (physically, mentally, and financially) I really need a break.
Hope to see you guys there!

Flash Timberwolf's MFM 2024 Report
General | Posted a year agoIt's been 5 years since I made one of these journals. Anyway...
...I started my long drive on Wednesday morning. (and yes, my Crown Victoria survived the trip) I Spent the night at a motel in Kingsport, TN (about half way there). I arrived at the Whispering Woods hotel Thursday afternoon. I got to see
saizaku and his family again. (Still waiting on the badge commission!). I roomed with his brother and his friends in the main hotel.
I spent most of the weekend meeting friends I haven't seen in so long and making some new ones. I got to perform my stand-up act in the Masquerade on Sunday. I didn't get to do any drawing during the weekend. Hopefully I can get my creativity back; though I do have an idea for a commission if anyone's willing to do it for me.
Saturday night was the Dinner of the Dons at Coletta's. Big thanks to
rabbi-tom
walt46
marmelmm and the rest for welcoming me back.
On the drive back I left early Monday morning. Stopped at a motel in Bristol, VA for the night and made it back home Tuesday evening.
It felt so good to be back at Mephit Fur Meet. I miss that con so much. It was the break I needed. I hope I get to come back next year and maybe bring my friends with me.

Defending Bonkers and How To Fix It
General | Posted 3 years agoI've been thinking about Disney's Bonkers a lot recently due to the show's 30th anniversary - https://twitter.com/FlashTimberwolf.....79278424653826
Despite what people say about it, I still like it. I grew up with it. It was one of my favorite Disney Afternoon shows. I'm just sick and tired of everyone bashing it. Yes, the show has its issues, but it's not worth all the hate it gets. The show was the result of a messy unorganized production. There's a video on YouTube that explains it all -
I highly doubt the series will get rebooted, but if it ever does and If I were in charge here's how I would fix the show:
1. Change the setting - Since Bonkers is similar to Who Framed Roger Rabbit, why not have the show take place in the same universe? Have it set in Hollywood 1997; 50 years after the events of the movie. Make Roger do a cameo once in a while. It's a world where humans and toons live together, but still toons have a hard time living in a human world when they're not making movies or TV shows.
2. Make Bonkers a little less zany - Okay, I'll admit he can be a bit obnoxious at times, so I would tone down his behaviour but still be funny.
3. Feature all the characters from the Lucky and the Miranda episodes - I would have both Lucky and Miranda work with Bonkers in the Toon Division. Plus all the side characters from both versions of the show be included.
4. Give Lucky and Sergeant Grating a reason for hating toons - The show never explained why they hated toons in general. Maybe they think toons shouldn't live with humans? It's not much but at least it's something.
5. Develop a relationship between Bonkers and Fawn - Bonkers always had a thing for Fawn Deer, but we never actually seen them together outside of their cartoon shorts. Have these two actually go on a date and develop a relationship.
So, those are my thoughts on what a Bonkers reboot should be. Feel free to comment on what you think and if there's anything you want me to explain more about my ideas.

A Very Long Overdue Life Update - 12/1
General | Posted 4 years ago*dusts off the layers of dust and cobwebs* Jeez! How long has it been since I've made a journal here?!
Anyway, Hey guys! Just letting you guys know I'm still alive and so are my roommates
spookysushi and
bookertw . We're all still surviving and getting by.
Spookysushi is currently working at a bowling alley. Back in November I gotta new car. A 2011 Ford Crown Victoria (pics will be up soon) My 1996 Toyota Corolla was falling apart and I couldn't afford the repairs. Luckily my dad knows a guy who works on cop cars. Perfect for a Blues Brothers fan like me. :)
I know it's been a very long time since I drew anything. I'm trying to get back into it. I miss drawing my characters. I've even had dreams about doing it lately. I might come up with something soon. Who knows?
So, how have you guys been?

Life Update 9/1 - We're Still Alive
General | Posted 5 years agoMan, it's been WAY too long since I've posted a journal here!
Anyway, how is everyone? Ya'll doing okay? I know this year has been stressful for all of us. Too much craziness I don't wanna get into; but I just wanna update you on what I've been doing.
First of all, forgive me for the lack of artwork. I've been too stressed out from everything and I can't focus on drawing; and I really want to get back into it. I've been spending a lot of time working trying to make ends meet.
Second, Me and my roommates
spookysushi and
bookertw are hoping things will improve soon. We're still living in Deptford, NJ although they would rather live elsewhere. Maybe California. They're basically fed up with life in South Jersey. I'd help them out if I could.
That's pretty much it. We're just surviving. Hopefully you guys are too. I'm gonna try to stay optimistic and hope and pray for things to get better.
Love you guys!

Life Update 2/29 - Leap Year Edition
General | Posted 6 years agoTwo weeks ago me and my roommates
spookysushi and
bookertw moved into a new apartment in Deptford, NJ. It's in a much nicer neighborhood, closer to my friend's job, and a bit more spacious. However the whole experience has cost me a fortune. I'm drowning in debt and I can't get a loan anywhere. I've been stressing hard about how to get the money I need. I could use a miracle right now.
As for my art: Once I pull myself together I'll try to get back to drawing.

My 39th Year - Plus Some Updates
General | Posted 6 years agoToday this grey muzzle turns a little bit greyer. :P Yep, I'm 39 years old.
And now for some updates:
- I do have a couple of pics I'm trying to finish up. I'll get them uploaded as soon as I can.
- For anyone going to the New Year's Furry Ball in Delaware this year, I'll be there.
- Most importantly. Me and my roommates
spookysushi and
bookertw will be moving to a new apartment this February and we can really use some financial help. It's costing us a fortune in fees. Anything you're able donate would help me out a lot - https://www.paypal.me/flashtimberwolf

General | Posted 6 years agoAKA Line Con 2019 Survivor :P If you were there you know what I'm talking about.
Anyway, me and my roommates
spookysushi and
bookertw had a great time at Furpocalypse last weekend. We stayed at the Quality Inn across from the main hotel with had nothing but issues. (Missing ceiling tiles, mold on the floor and ceiling, broken elevator, etc.)
Aside from that, me and my friends got to chat and hang around with others, bought stuff in the dealer room, I got a cool artist alley commission which will be posted here later.
I got to perform my stand up routine in the masquerade Saturday night. Won third place! Check out the video here starting at 5:36:40 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYyN4q9vFa0
I'm looking forward to next year's Furpoc which will be in its new location in Stamford, CT. Hopefully the new hotel will be better, though I will miss Cromwell.

bookertw will there this year. We'll be staying at the Quality Inn across from the main hotel. I'm focused on two things this year: getting a commission and performing my stand up in the masquerade.
By the way: This will be my roommates first furry convention in a long time. Please be nice to them, give them hugs, show them a good time. Let's be the loving fandom we claim to be.

Flash Timberwolf's MFM 2019 Report
General | Posted 6 years agoIt's been a while since I've posted one of these...anyway...
I had a great time at Mephit Fur Meet this year. It felt so good to be back at that convention! I really needed that time to get away to just relax and chill. Traveling to and from the convention was pretty smooth. My rental car was a brand new Hyundai Elantra. It handled okay.
I did a little bit of sketching to try to get back into drawing. Hopefully I'll get caught up soon. (Please be patient) I bought some stuff in the dealer room. I didn't get a chance to get any art commissions; but my friend
saizaku said he can do a badge commission for me once he gets set up.
I got to hang out with my friends who I haven't seen in such a long time including
rabbi-tom (Thanks for welcoming me back to the Dinner of the Dons) as well as
marmelmm,
walt46,
squeakybunny, and
kennykitsune (The Babsiwuff Club)
I got to perform my stand up routine in the Masquerade on Sunday; which is basically a repeat of my Furpocalypse performance from last year.
On the flight back home I watched "Zootopia" on my tablet to help deal with my PCD.
As always, MFM was a fun and relaxing con. Hopefully I get to come back next year.

Life Update 8/23 - Going to Mephit Fur Meet
General | Posted 6 years agoFirst of all I apologize again for my lack of art. I've been feeling burned out from working so much. I barely have to time nor the energy to draw which is very frustrating for me.
Hopefully some time away will help me. I'll be at Mephit Fur Meet next weekend. I can't wait to go since I missed going last year. As usual I'll be staying at my friend's house in Memphis while commuting to and from the hotel via rental car. So if you're going to MFM, I hope to see you there!

Life Update 5/14
General | Posted 6 years agoI've been living on my own for 7 months now. I'm loving it so far. Me,
spookysushi, and
bookertw are hanging in there still.
I know my art has been slow lately. I've been dealing with a lot of stress and anxiety which has affected my desire to draw. It's hard for me to find time to draw since this time of year is my busy season. (Yard work on the weekends and stuff)
Other than that; I'll be starting my new job this week. I left Amazon on Friday and I'll be returning to my original job with NAPA. It'll be nice to work normal hours again. Hopefully I can get the time off I need to attend any furry conventions I wanna go to this year.
Wish me luck!

What Happened to the Furry Fandom?
General | Posted 7 years agoI wanna share some thoughts with you guys. Please take some time to read this. A lot of it is based on my own personal experiences and from some of my friends as well:
I've been a furry for about 14 years. Basically I just wanted to find a group of people who liked cartoons as much as I did. I loved talking with others at conventions, learning about art, and being creative. I've seen it all from the good times and the bad. I've made a lot of good friends here and has had a huge impact on my life. But lately things have changed; sadly not for the better. So I gotta ask...
...What happened to the Fandom?
- We went from being open and accepting to too exclusive. We used to celebrate our differences; now we just let anything divide us.
- We've become too cliquey. Many furs only hang out in certain and become far less social; not wanting to talk to anyone who isn't exactly like them.
- We put too much emphasis on negativity and drama.
- We made owning a fursuit a priority instead of an option. Now don't get me wrong. Fursuiters are great and all; but they tend to get a little too much attention. Those who don't have a fursuit or any furry apparel feel left out. They've come to believe that owning a fursuit is the only way to get attention.
- We focus more on the character than the person behind it.
- We don't respect anyone's opinions anymore.
What happened to this great community I once knew? Whatever happened to the days were we would just get together and have fun? Has things gotten so bad that there's no way back?
I don't believe so. I love this fandom too much to watch it get dragged down. I love this fandom; even during the times when it didn't love me back. That's why I'm still here.
We need to be better in order to improve. We have to set a better example for ourselves; especially for those younger furs coming into the group. Obviously change won't happen overnight. It takes effort to make things happen; if you're willing to do so. We can't just sit idly by and watch the fandom crumble and fall.
There's a lot to unpack here. I'll probably bring them up another time; but for now...what do you guys think?

Plans For 2019
General | Posted 7 years agoNow that the new year has arrived (FINALLY!) Here's what I hope to accomplish this year:
- Learn to relax more and take it easy: I've been too worked up and tense lately. I wanna be able to just rest and chill and make the most of what free time I have now that I'm on my own.
- Draw more: Speaking of which; I'm gonna try harder to waste my time and use it to create art.
- Attend more fur cons and meets: I wanna do more local fur meets. As for conventions I really wanna attend Mephit Fur Meet, Furrydelphia, and Furpocalypse. Any other con is optional. It all depends on how much time off I can get from my job.
- Find someone to be in a relationship with (Loving or Friends with Benefits): I'm still debating on that...
...yeah I'm gonna need some time to think about that last one. :P

Holiday Wishes From Flash Timberwolf
General | Posted 7 years agoI want to wish everyone here a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year. *hugs everyone*
My wish this holiday season is for all of my friends to happy. I know it's been rough year for most of us (believe me I know) but I still believe that things can and will get better.
