Posted 2 years agoI almost let two years pass before dropping a "Still on this rock." journal. https://twitter.com/FrenorG is where I am exceedingly much more active, those of you who still can see this journal update though I hope are doing well.
So quiet here
Posted 4 years agoAnd I apologize for those of you who only follow me here. I still come on here and keep in touch but putting up stuff and journals just doesn't seem to be happening for me. I'm much more active over on twitter though so if you want to keep tabs on me better following me there is your best shot. https://twitter.com/FrenorG

Posted 5 years agoBeen five months since my last journal and just slipping in to give a updates. Again I apologize for my lack of good social behavior on tending to messages as well as my space here. I've really just been spinning a lot of plates and by the time I get to the me time portion of the day I barely have enough time to chat on discord let alone come on here and dig through the 2000+ submissions. IF your still coming here to read this I super appreciate it, your incredible and glad you still wanna see how things are going.
I had my first vertigo incident after finding out its something I have to learn to live with after my hospital visit five months ago. The nausea and unbalanced feeling came before things started to spin but the meclizine I keep handy brought me back down, even if it keeps me steady by making me feel like I have a bowl of water inside my head. I think knowing what was going on this time helped out a lot to what with knowing why I was having this feeling vs not sure if I was having a heart attack or worse.
The biggest reason for me being out of touch is because of my brother. He is going through a divorce and until he figures out what path he wants to take with things he is staying with us for now, which means nine times out of ten we end up hanging out most of my free time. Its pretty nice but I miss a lot of folks on here and other social windows I dont get to spend much time with anymore. I try my best over telegram and to a extent discord and twitter.
Finally its just that general end of the year nonsense of working a grocery store during a food holiday, its compounded by the rona of course but we are all taking the proper precautions even if people still forget to be decent folk.
I do hope everyone is doing well, and just to say again thanks for still keeping a eye on things here. Even if it has been almost a year since I've uploaded anything art related. It gets to me sometimes but I just don't really have the drive to commission work right now with how everything is shuffling around in the world.
Take good care of yourself and pleasant holidays.

Health updates
Posted 5 years agoSo about three weeks ago I had a tiny dizzy spell late one night while just sitting at the computer. My vision started to spin and my balance was thrown off, telling me to fall to the left. It only lasted about a minute and after laying down things started to return to normal. I've had little attacks like this before but normally just quick ten second bouts (Not regularly, the last time I had something like this happen was almost two years ago.). It was a little concerning how long this one lasted but I didn't feel off or bad after so I didn't think anything of it.
Two days later while at work I was stocking the shelves and I felt my vision disconnect again and start to spin up. Balance left me quicker and at first I just leaned against the shelving until a coworker came by. I asked him to just stick with me for a bit that it should only last about a minute. A minute came and went and the spinning got worse an I told him to help me down to the floor so I could lay down and by that time management had come over because some customers had gone and told them. I ended up being taken to the hospital and they ran a handful of tests on me but couldnt find anything physically wrong with me so they diagnosed me with vertigo and discharged me. The world was still spinning 7 hours later but it had slowed down enough that I was able to walk around, got picked up by family from the hospital.
Since then I've had a handful of dr visits, been prescribed a few things and have had a few tests run as we narrow down if best case this was a one event (apparently calcium builds up in your inner ear over a lifetime and can sometime degrade to a point that when it breaks off finally it throws you off balance until your inner ear adjusts to the change.) or perhaps its something I have to live with from the here on out. I haven't had another vertigo event but I have experienced that it feels like my balance has been severely thrown off (leaning over to pick up things, especially if I move to quick give me a case of the "oof") and somedays I have a feeling like I'm balancing a bowl of water inside my head. Its gotten better and less severe since it first happened but I still dont feel 100%.
Sorry for being so quiet on social fronts, I've been trying to distract myself from juggling all the fun that comes with having to sort out medical financial issues as well as adjusting to what may be a new normal. I just wanted to drop this here and let anyone who still peeks at my page know whats up.

Hope Everyone Is Doing Well
Posted 5 years agoThings have been crazy in the grocery business but doing what I can to make sure I keep me and the family safe. Supposedly their setting up a drive through testing location at our fairgrounds so its officially a little oof but going to focus on keeping things sane and safe for now. Take care everybody.
Coming up for air
Posted 6 years agoMan I haven't done anything here for a long time. I'm doing alright, just been a bit busy with myself and not really been doing a good job of keeping up with things on the fuzzy side of life beyond what little socializing I do on discord. Not a whole bunch to really say or share other than I'm doing alright, things are better since the last journal and things are starting to settle down an just figuring out what to do with myself. Hope anyone who reads this is doing well this holiday season!
I mean.. Shinies is well timed..
Posted 6 years agoI was already talking with some folks about putting it out some sort of "hey.. disability is taking a while to pull through any help would be great." sort of thing but I hardly feel I'm deserving of that sort of thing but this shiny thing. Honestly im just waiting for all the paperwork to go through the system but it is taking a lot longer than what was implied and ive already had to pull in some favors from family to cover bills. I'm just saying if your inclined anything can help and I'll fully disable this shiny thing once I have all my disability in order or im back to work.
Post Hospital Update
Posted 6 years agoI'm already super bad at keeping this page up to date but just to put it out there I just got out of a week long stay at the hospital on sunday. My gallbladder decided to hit critical mass Monday and it took a bit to narrow down exactly what path to take but it was decided to dive in and pull the gallbladder out. This was further complicated as my liver had somehow coiled/grown/etc around my gallbladder and was obstructing them from being able to properly get to it so instead of some nice simple incisions they had to turn around and put a nice eight inch incision across the right side of my belly. I'm out of the hospital now and its pretty rough getting around, ive been at least six weeks before I'm well enough to get back to work. But doing well besides all that.

The new mystery science theater 3000
Posted 8 years agoSomeone needs to tell these new boys to breath between riffs. Also if your riffing on something funny you do it after th funny thing and not a third into it so it seems less like you pre recorded the bits.
It's still funny, but the timing of everything feels rushed. While the two original sets of hosts for sure workshopped and wrote down all their stuff ahead of time the new series is missing the illusion that they are watching it with you. I'm only two episodes in so maybe they loosen up a bit further in.
Also, why does it still have commercial breaks? I'm not talking the couple of times they leave the theater to do bits and gags I'm talking about the cut always to
The skeleton crew band and the screen just showing the name of the movie every so often.

My Ten Hours With ME:Andromeda
Posted 8 years agoSo lets just get it out of the way.
This is going to be the biggest meme inducing laugh show when it comes to animations and goofs bioware has put out to date. I've seen guns held backwards. Lips moving like it was a noot noot Claymation. An so much more.
Now that we got that over with, it improves on mass effects combat in spades. While I'm not sure how I feel about "soft" cover (Instead of pushing a button to stick to cover, and then push it again to transfer to other cover or leave it you just walk up to it and your character automaticly leans into it.) I love the new mobility angle the game is putting on display. While the jet pack is neat I found it gets more out of it based on the way your building your character. It obviously helps with navigating a much more open world its also handy to be stuck behind cover and popping up to rain bullets atop of any baddies in cover. The jetpack is also used for evasion ala darksouls. While I'm not a fan of where its set by default (middle mouse button) its easily fixed and learning how to properly evade and scoot around the battlefield will really keep you up and fighting.
Classes are gones and instead you just pour skill points across the three ability wings, combat tech and biotic. Not much is changed here other than your character can dip into every ability and skill. Each skill/ability has six ranks, with ranks four five and six having two options to pick from. Beyond the new coat of paint all abilities act as they did from ME3. In place of classes you now have profiles which act as a modifier. each profile becomes available and ranks up based on the amount of skill points spent in a tree. Profiles for example if you fill in the soldier profile gives weapon damage, ammo capacity and etc while the adept profile improves biotic skill performances. Since in theory you can have access to all skills at one time but can only have one profile + three active skills they introduced a system called favorites which allows you to swap between profiles and skills quickly based on the encounter or even just your mood.
Gear wise is pretty fifty fifty on changes. While loot once again is a thing instead of progressive unlocks you can find neat stuff off corpses. Weapons can again have mods attatched to em to give certain perks and armor pieces have built in bonuses anywhere from more shields, to better scrap collection, ammo capacity etc etc. Armor can still be colored based on your preferences and all very familiar. Until you get into crafting.
Disclaimer: I did not have enough time to really get into crafting but I dabbled just a tiny bit into WHY you should want to craft. The primary reason for crafting in the simpliest way is because it gets you access to a gun/armor you may enjoy vs hoping it drops. The more complicated reason comes in the form of augments you can gain access to that can only be used while crafting a item. I didn't mess with armor augs much, but the few I got my hand on turned a normal shotgun that had three rounds before needing to be reloaded while firing normal rounds and instead made it to where it fired on a heat sink system similar to the first Mass Effect (Ie it has infinite ammo you just have to mind your heat build up) and also gave it plasma seeking rounds. While this made the rounds slower to hit the target the perks of having shot gun pellets that spread, then converge on a target has its perks. Bottom line it got pretty ludicrous being able to jump jet out of cover, fire off two clouds of pellets and see someone 20 feet away take shotgun to face damage. Their were a ton of other augments you could slot in while crafting items all the way from permament inferno rounds and I saw some armor augs that could increase you jump distance as well as adding other quirks on top of whats already built into the armor.
Sadly, other than the new mobility provided in the approach to combat none of this filters into the multiplayer. Beyond having a more tangible connection to your single player experience (You have access to strike teams to send build up and send out ala many a phone game Farmville esque system.) by allowing you to load up Apex Missions which are special missions that give bonuses to your multiplayer and single player experiences. You can still send the mentioned strike teams out but most apex missions this way take hours for your team to complete compared to the 10-20 minutes you and three friends or random folk could spend on it. This however is the only real change beyond the new prestige system. Your still running bronze silver and gold missions to build up xp (max level of 20 for multiplayer), collecting credits to buy loot crates to unlock gear upgrades and classes to play. Each class though is limited to three active skills, two passives that are fixed based upon the class race combo they are, which is fixed. Once you hit lvl 20 with a certain class though instead of sending the character off to fight in the war effort they instead start to level up bonus stats which are used across your game play. So one set of classes may give you bonus shields, another may give power damage bonuses etc etc. Regardless you will be wanting to spend more time on your maxed multiplayer character.
Your getting a pretty solid sci fi rpg shooter gameplay wise.
I don't wanna dive to much into how I feel about the narrative because I mean this is going to be fundamentally based on your own feelings. Your put in the boots of a unseasoned, only really went through one tour of duty in the alliance military character whos thrust into a position that in all honesty they are to inexperienced for. You are not the N7 trained seasoned warrior and leader Shepard was. This leads into what honestly feels a bit more of a light hearted story. Trust me, serious urgent things are put in place but its made clear that they want this to be a much "funner" experience while exploring the new setting Mass effect is in. If I had to give this one knock is how blatant it is for a certain character personality is going to be after the first conversation with them. While tropes aren't bad its still nice to discover things about folks over the course of a game and not be presented with "This is me, don't dig any deeper or question why I behave this way I just do.". Your very quickly going to learn which npcs you wanna talk to more and which youd rather just see get blown out of the airlock.
To be honest the game feels a lot like how I felt after my first ten hours with Fallout 4. It didn't really do anything all that crazy to laud about but just gives you more time in a setting you already enjoyed. Whatever faults it does have youll be able to work through because you like hearing krogans being krogans or seeing a bioware character do the patented doorway lean. Its more Mass Effect, no more no less.

Journal Bump and For Honor?
Posted 8 years agoI cant quite tell if its over complicated or just clunky. When it works it feels great, but when it feels like its not working I cant tell if I suck or theirs something wrong.
Edit: hur hut you nerds know I am talking about for honor the vidya game, not journals, you got a good eye roll though.

Holidays are out of the way, new year begins.
Posted 9 years agoHey everyone just another little journal to let you know ive survived another holiday season. On top of the usual handful that Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years can bring I also had to be a good host, a house sitter, a dog patron and a handful of other things that kept me distracted.
Once the end of the month comes closer into view expect commissions to start popping up again. Social wise I'm going to be responding a bit better now that my plate has thinned out some but I still ask for patience if I seem distracted or busy. I've been filling up my unwinding time in a mixture of Final Fantasy 14 again (on balmung for those curious) and The Division (On the pc, desperate for folks to play this with.). I've pretty much abandoned destiny on the console as while it is easier to play with folks I just cant get into it. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. As of right now I probably wont be riding that bicycle until Destiny 2 comes out.
To just point out, yes I do have a F-List. Its right here https://www.f-list.net/c/frenor/ along with some side links to James and my jerk horse who shant be named. Though I will admit I don't blind date rp much these days as I enjoy things to have a lil bit more meat on em. Fun flings can happen when the mood strikes but I wouldn't mind having things I can hang ideas off of from time to time.
It sorta goes with this new place I'm finding myself stuck at. While I thoroughly enjoy the whole "Friends with benefits" life style I've had here and with folks I've found ive started to enjoy the friends part of that more. Its got nothing to do with desire or urges. Just to be honest while I'm glad if I'm able to create and produce things that help get you off, that's why I share it to spark your own interests, it'd be nice if I didn't get left feeling like I was just some dildo. Again, flings can be fun. But I really am starting to get tired of feeling like I'm just on the friends list in order to help you get off. This isn't aimed at anyone in particular, its happened for years. Its just recently ive been loosing the patience for it.
Sorry to get all serious there at the end, still wish you all the best and good fun.

Posted 9 years agoI'm doing fine! Work has been keeping me busy but the real culprit is WoW and the small circle of friends I've made and enjoying it with. Its a fun expansion. Keeps me occupied and entertained. Trying to sneak in some Destiny in here and there but all honesty haven't nailed much time on it. I'm still able to be contacted at all the usual places if you need to get a hold of me and hope your all doing well!
