I will most likely be bouncing around from social group to social group during the evenings, so please don't feel offended or unappreciated if I can't get around to "hanging out" this con. There is a LOT going on, and I plan on doing a lot as well.

Funny, but I usually don't. But being in casinos kinda triggers the smoking bug in me, so I might have a few while I'm there.

Not many, maybe one or two that friends have invited me to attend.

If I'm not engaged in conversation, usually saying "Hi, Frost, I'm xxxx from yyyy (usually social platform or other common connection)." That usually works.
Rules of engagement (physical contact)?
Handshakes and brief "man hugs" are acceptable for new contacts. Friends know what my limits are on other kinds of contact.
How can I find you?
I'll either be in Artie around the con floor. Otherwise, I don't really stick out at all. I tend to keep a low profile. As far as trying to reach me for contact, telegram is best (frostbight)
Can I talk to you?
Yes, but don't expect me to initiate conversation or try to engage me if I'm already talking to others.
Can I give you stuff?
As long as it's not a disease, sure!
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Brief hugs are fine for introductions. Anything past that (including snuggles) require that I know you on a more personal level first.
Can I hang out with you?
This one's always a little tough to answer. I'm always up for meeting new people, but the "self-invite" to things like food outings or private parties is a huge no-go for me. Don't do it.
How do I know if you're not looking to socialize (angry, busy or upset)?
Easy. I remove myself from the mix if I'm not up for anything. So I'll be hard to find if I need some alone time.

What's your goal for the con this year?
Gamble, win. Get at least 2-3 commissions. Get drunk at least 1 night. Go to at least 1 party. Have fucking FUN.

Anywho, I just wanted to get that thing off my front page. It was ... old.
My next con is going to be FAU, where I'll be doing my duty working as Director of Security for the con. It's sort of tradition for me now, so I'll hopefully be doing that for a while.
Oh, and yeah, I'm a father now. My baby girl was born last week, and it's ... been great actually. But I'll leave talk about that to my other outlets and not here where I would have talk about my baby next to naked furry tits or something like that.

Posted 11 years agoNow would be about that time of year when I post that con meme that seems to make its rounds before every con, with the typical "where you can find me" and "no, I won't have sex with you" types of statements.
After the last CF, I have to admit that this con has really lost a lot of the energy and vibrancy that originally drew me in to the furry crowd from the start. With somewhat unfavorable changes in staff as well as about 90% of the people that I would normally hang out with going to be absent from this con, I've made the decision to not formally attend CaliFur this year or in future years.
I purchased my attending badge last year, so I'm not going to let it go completely to waste, so I'll be there with a few select friends on Saturday, just to be social. But I won't be staying the whole day, or staying in the hotel.
I personally doubt that CaliFur will ever be the con that it once was (or depending on who you ask, wasn't), so for now, I'm considering this my final year at CF after a consecutive 7 year run.
Have fun, to those who will sill be going,and maybe I'll see you there saturday.

During the day, I'll most likely be napping or "on the floor" somewhere. I'm hoping to go suiting at least once a day. At night, I'll probably be with one group of friends or another doing whatever it is groups of friends do.

I'm probably going to be one hell of a social butterfly at this con. There's a lot of people to mention, and you most likely know who you are.

Cliquey sounds like such a horrible word. You mean are there certain groups of people that I'd prefer to hang out with over others at specific times of the day? Yes.

How... odd... well, handshakes and hugs are ok, anything else... uh... not exactly.
-Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Hugs are cool from personal friends or those who I'm comfortable with. Snuggles have to be pre-approved.

ONLY if I invite you. Our room is pretty full as it is and adding more to the mix will definitely not be cool
Can I dance with you at the dances?
I really only dance in fursuit and if I've had a couple of drinks to loosen up with. That being said, don't expect me to give you a lot of special attention on the dance floor. I tend to do my own thing.

Yup, I'm good for a party or two, but I'm not comfortable with a LOT of people in small places or if there's any illegal activities going on.

The Penny Pool [MOAR UPDATES]
Posted 13 years agoFirst and foremost, I’d like to extend a gracious thank you to all the friends and family that donated to the “Penny Pool” fundraiser that we had a few weeks ago. With all the donations we received, we were able to cover a majority of Penny’s surgery costs as well as provide to her the needed after care to ensure a safe and speedy recovery. With donations, sales of Disney memorabilia, bake sales, and art sales, we were able to raise just over $2000, which put a tremendous dent in the surgery costs. We still have some aftercare to take care of, but being able to breathe a little easier from having almost the entire surgery costs paid for is truly a blessing. And it’s all thanks to everyone who donated.
On a similar note, I’d also like to extend a HUGE thanks to those who offered their time and energy to help promote our fundraiser. From old friends to new, from Tumblr to Twitter, from all corners of the globe, we had people re-tweeting, re-posting, and re-bloging our fundraiser. And to those, you know who you are… thank you so much for getting the word out, and helping us raise money.
As of now, Penny is still recovering from her procedure that happened on September 6. Her prognosis as of now looks good, and the doctors expect her to re-gain about 80-90% of her full movement in the upcoming weeks. She’s still in the cone of shame, but hopefully that will come off in the next week or so when she has her stiches removed. We’re doing our best to keep her movement restricted so that her recovery can be speedy.

It's been about 2 weeks since we began raising money to help fund my dog's operation. I find it only appropriate to fill you all in on the latest with all that is going on.
We're still waiting on the doctor to return from his holiday to get a date squared away for the procedure. But if all goes as planned, it'll probably be sometime this week or next, depending on how clogged his schedule is. I'll make sure to post something here once that happens. Once the date is set, we have to pay a down payment of 75% of the total cost.
As far as the fundraising efforts have gone, I could NOT be more thankful and appreciative of all the support that we've received. With general donations from friends and family, bake sales at my work, and sales from my Wife's vast collection of Disney memorbilia (if you're interested, comment or note me to see what's still available), we've raised well over $1000!!!! And the donations are still coming in!
I'll be contacting a few people to get the thank you rewards from some of my friends in order, as promised.
I should also note that any excess donations that we get will be donated to a local, non-government animal shelter (My wife told me the name, but it's evading me right now.)
Once again, thank you everyone for all your love and support.
