Posted 15 years agoI think I ranted about this last year (looks back) ok 2 years ago. And So far, my opinion hasn't changed a whole lot.
There are casual mj users, and potheads.
Casual users are ones that occasionally indulge, but keep their life in order.
Potheads are the losers where there life revolves around pot, and as I stated previously, where attire, life humor all revolve around it.
And of course the new trend to buck it off for "medical use"
There are legitimate reasons for using MJ for medical. Getting stoned off your ass under that guise is not one of them.
And if you get offended by this, then likely, you are one of the aforementioned potheads instead of a casual user or a medical user.

He states that "many psychologists and psychiatrists have demonstrated that there is no relation between celibacy and pedophilia." he also says others have shown "that there is a relation between homosexuality and pedophilia."

I loved that movie, BTW, and saw it last night. But one thing did irk me:
The dragon designs aside from Toothless.
They LOOK STUPID. Seriously stupid. the Bumblebee like one was sort of funny, and I liked the tiny ones, but the big, totally hideously over-cartoonish looking ones? Blech...

The world has ended, everything is post apocalyptic... and fricking Alice is STILL the main character (I Like Milla Jovavitch, but come ON). And she fights WESKER... *facepalm*

I am unwatching anyone who constantly rants about furry drama, and manages to throw in any of the following with consistency:
Calling cub porn "child porn" (It isn't you idiots, they aren't real)
Calling people with fetishes "sick and quit flaunting it"
Bashing peoples fetishes
Bashing people in general with no real reason
Being political nutjobs, either side
Basically being drama whores, (ironically, by trying to bash drama)
Even if I like their art. Already slimmed down about half a dozen. Will miss them, but not really. It is relaxing NOT to get their stupidity in my journal list every time I look.

OK, When the switched to the new site, I went and created a profile.
It lasted roughly a week, then mysteriously just POOFED. I hadn't even really DONE anything with it besides a pic and a basic cut and paste from the old site.
It irritated me a little, but I chalked it up to one of the database hiccups that a new site can have.
Created another.
What is it? 3 months later now? However long it is, I went to log in and it said "invalid username or password".
Odd...
So I do the "forgot password" option, put in my email (ivanotter@gmail.com) and the capchca (sp).
Says "invalid email address".
Was about to shoot off a message, but go and CHECK MY MAIL to make sure I have the right one.
Yep, all the FX emails are in there.
So I shoot off an email, saying this is the second time this has happened.
So here is my bitch: FX this is sort of inexcusable. 3 MONTHS (or so) afterwards (and taking down the original site), you lose my profile again (and yes, AGAIN, as in second time).

I have had, overall, mixed history with Sprint. But they are affordable compared to anyone else (especially Verizon). But they are only a secondary problem.
The original refurbished phone came from the insurance company that handles thier Total Equipment Protection. (BTW same company that, AFAIK, does it for Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc). They sent the original refurb phone that didnt work right.
It WAS the Sprint store's fault for the attitude i got. However, in the devils advocate role, I have not seen a retail location anymore that has anything but that attitude (BEst Buy, CC when it existed, Ultimate Electronics, even Microcenter to a lesser extent). That seems to be the corporate norm now. Treat your customers like they are idiots.
Its REFUBISHED PHONES that is my biggest gripe. I have Never, NEVER had luck with them. They always end up having something wrong that is utter fucking frustrating.
Examples?
My Mogul (PPC-6800). Original phone: Great (Till I dumped it in a cup of coffee)
1st Refurb: Screen was half dying
2nd Refurb: the pressure layer of the touch screen was coming up...literally
3rd Brand new: Worked until it got...ahem... <.<
Got changed to a Touch Pro....
1st Phone: Was mediocre (but the Touch Pro it self was sort of mediocre)
Got damaged (I am hard on my phones, can't you tell?)
1st REfurb: Out of the BOX it moved slower than Ice in the center of Antarctica
2nd (NEw): Worked about the same as the original Touch Pro. That is to say, Mediocre
Sold that Touch PRo to buy my Pre:
1st Pre: Worked great for a Pre (software is pretty new, so it has a bug in a couple of places at times). Speaker went out. Becuase the cover for the MicroUSB charge point had fallen off (common) they made me do the insurance.(100 buck deducible BTW)
1st REfurb: Bluetooth no workie
2nd refurb: speaker sounds like my original after it died
So we seeing a pattern here? Kahuki is taking my phone in today to prevent me from lunging across the counter at the next asshat who tries to tell me nothing is wrong. I am in that sort of mood.

Damned Sprint....
Posted 15 years agoOk, I have a Palm Pre. I LOVED my palm Pre, warts and all, because it was such a great interface.
Well, my Pre's speaker goes out. I have to get it replaced.
First one, they make me do under "accidental damage" and pay 100$ deductible becuase the damned DUST COVER over the microUSB port was missing (common thing to fall off of Pre).
I suck it up, and pay for it. Get the "new" one in the mail (it's refurbished), immediatly get an InvisiShield installed to protect the screen, go home to get my bluetooth headset and sync it and....
...The Bluetooth doesn't work right. It syncs, but it doesn't do sound at all.
I go to the store, and explain its faulty. The attitude i get is "Well it must be your headset."
Problem is? This headset works on Kahukis pre, and my OLD pre. And TWO other headsets i tried do the exact same thing.
After some pointless, hour long arguing, they finally test the headset first on the pre, then another phone, and then other headsets and then say" Oh yeah, guess the phone's bluetooth is faulty." Being Condescending all the while.
So the new one is ordered, and i receive it today. Again, another refurbished unit. Again, first thing i do, knowing my luck, is to get an invisishield installed at Best Buy (ever tried installing one yourself on something OTHER than a simple flat faced phone/device? No way i was going ot mess one up)
come home, and get a call...and the SPEAKER IS FUCKING BloWN ON IT!!!!
It is like I got re-issued my first phone after it got damaged!!!
So tomorrow, I (or my mate) am going INTO that Sprint store, and demand the reach back into their inventory where they keep NEW BOXED Pre's, SCAN ONE to assign it to my #, and then apologise for being such a hassle. THEN, and ONLY THEN, might I CONSIDER staying.

And i have a Modern Warfare "Super-Elite" on it's way as well (eBay special, for 298 bucks, guaranteed to work).
So I will be putting the Halo 3 sort of as a spare, and the MW2 will become my new primary console.

Posted 15 years agoOk well i booted my Xbox up last night when i got home, expecting to play "the Darkness" which, after reading the compilation of the first 10 or so comics, i decided to try the game.
Booted it up and.... E74.....
GAAAAAHHHH *pulls hair* 3 weeks without my Xbox360. They did swear up and down the replacement (if they cannot fix it) will be an Halo 3 Edition outside at the least. (which is what mine was). I thought I had dodged the bullet getting one of the non-elites with HDMI (the Revision A of the 90NM Chipset Motherboards. with the better heatsinks and such) but doesn't look like it.
First Time i had a console die on me....Ok I lie, I had a PS1 and PS2 Die on me.
Booted it up and.... E74.....

So there was a shooting yesterday. I was listening to the local progressive talk show and the anti-gun nuts came out of the woodwork like crazy...
Seriously folks....
NO AMOUNT OF GUN CONTROL WOULD STOP THIS.
Stuff like this is much deeper than banning guns, so you anti-gun people QUIT TRYING IT.
This man had a history of violence, and could not own a gun himself. He stole that rifle from his uncle he lived with.
AND QUIT COMPARING IT TO COLUMBINE for chrissakes. This is completely different. This was a lone (apparently mentally unstable person with a criminal history) who fired, as far as I can tell, from the OUTSIDE of the school. As opposed to two psychopaths who PLANNED and EXECUTED an assault inside a school and ate their own bullets because they were useless dregs of humanity.
And the Math teacher, Dr. David Benke? Fucking hero. Period. What he did was selfless (and well calculated, because a hunting rifle is pretty much useless at short range, so while he still put his life at risk, it was not a STUPID risk) And while I doubt anyone here will disagree, if you do? Your a damned moron who should castrate yourself as to not spread your stupidity genes further in our gene pool.

I wish this was in better spirits, but it is not. Quite frankly, it is a big plea of help.
We still have not found the money to pay off Kahuki's back debts. Wind Lyska was generous to try to help us, but his credit was not good enough to secure a loan.
I want to make this pretty clear: We cannot stay in our current house (foreclosed on and sold off remember?). If we cannot find someone, we WILL BE HOMELESS.
There is no more succinct way of putting this. So I am asking, hell pleading with the community to help us.
We just need someone who has the money, or has the ability to get a loan for the money, and fast. You WILL BE PAID BACK WITHIN 2 MONTHS.
That is the irony of this: the debts total around 6000, and we will be getting 8,000 in first time home buyers tax credit, in addition to other tax return (Kahuki says about another 2-3k). So you WILL be paid back as soon as the tax return comes in. As in, as soon as we can hustle our butts down to the bank, get it cashed, and wire/get a cashiers check/ the money to you.
We will sign some sort of agreement to legally bind us to the debt.

I wish this was in better spirits, but it is not. Quite frankly, it is a big plea of help.
We still have not found the money to pay off Kahuki's back debts. Wind Lyska was generous to try to help us, but his credit was not good enough to secure a loan.
I want to make this pretty clear: We cannot stay in our current house (foreclosed on and sold off remember?). If we cannot find someone, we WILL BE HOMELESS.
There is no more succinct way of putting this. So I am asking, hell pleading with the community to help us.
We just need someone who has the money, or has the ability to get a loan for the money, and fast. You WILL BE PAID BACK WITHIN 2 MONTHS.
That is the irony of this: the debts total around 6000, and we will be getting 8,000 in first time home buyers tax credit, in addition to other tax return (Kahuki says about another 2-3k). So you WILL be paid back as soon as the tax return comes in. As in, as soon as we can hustle our butts down to the bank, get it cashed, and wire/get a cashiers check/ the money to you.
We will sign some sort of agreement to legally bind us to the debt.

Posted 16 years agoChiquita died on January 4th, 2010, of an accident. It unfortunantly involved me, and I have felt very very guilty and sort of empty.
What happened: My BF was at the door of the bedroom, knocking on it because his hands were full with food. All the dogs rushed towards the door and as i was getting off the bed, Chiquita dodged under my feet in a rush to get to the door. Most the time this ends up with a squeak if indignation when part of the pressure of the foot hits the body...but this time it was fatal. My foot his jsut right to connect with her skull and...and crushed it. Since then I have felt so Guilty and empty.
Yes I know it was an accident, yes I know there was no way except in hindsight to prevent it. But it still hurts.

I just passed my prime (my 20s) and into the big 3-0.
I am sitting here sort of reflecting on my life. It has had it's ups and downs.
That being said, I do have a request as an birthday otter if any of you want to help with a nice present:
Help me and my mate get into our house.
Here is the skinny:
To finance the house, we have to pay off my mates past debts. We got a lot taken off the credit report, but unfortunately the finance company is looking at an earlier one with all of them on.
We got it down to about 3 grand, but the one the finance company has is about 7500.
What we need? Someone who can cosign with
Kahuki for a loan for that amount so we can pay it off.
we can and WILL pay it back, because not only are we getting a couple grand at closing (ironic, eh) which at least half will immediately go towards the loan, the rest will be paid off in February when we get our tax return with the housing credit (8 grand, plus the overpay Kahuki has been paying into taxes, which will net (we calculate) roughly another 6k).
There is no if, maybe, or perhaps. it WILL be paid off.
But we are out of time. Closing is the 23rd, and we are currently living in a rental that was forclosed on and sold, and they want us out. We don't HAVE anywhere else to live.
So please. Help an otter out for his birthday. Make him damned happy even though he is turning old.

Down towards the bottom, someone said something about they were thinking of moving here. That is the only part of this entire post that is pertinent (that sub thread). He comments why the hell someone would want to move to America.
I replied that basically, becuase its a good country. (I did not use great, perfect, et cetera, just good).

and I am not talking the 2-Gryphon "america" rant (which was fairly spot on) which details problems but also points out not everyone is like that. I am talking the hard core "nothing good about America exists" thinking that seems to start showing up.
But to say we are a third world country, and the only reason we are listed as first is propaganda and the nukes to back it up is utter BULLSHIT.
He listed Education (will give him that one that its lower than many first world, but WAY HIGHER than any third world by leaps and bounds)
Crime (where if you look at strictly overall crime, yes, but understand, that includes EVERY crime, from a petty misdemeanor to big stuff, and I would be part of that, having a petty misdemeanor, and when it comes to rape and murder, two BIG crimes, we are not in 3rd word territory, and in fact have half the rape rate per capita of Canada). and even the site says it shows a bit of an unfair skew becuase americans are far more likely (73%) to report the crime, compared to most countries. In fact, in per capita Crimes, ENGLAND has more.
Heck, us being gun happy people, even murders with FIREARMS we are nowhere close to the level of the top 3. (http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/c.....-with-firearms ) we rank 4, but at approximately 9000 per year, we are at HALF of #3 (Thailand at 20,000) and WAY below South Africa (31,000), and we have a metric FUCKTON of guns here (hell, I have 2; a shotgun and a pistol).

Health Care: Well this is a bit complicated. We talking average lifespan (ranked #47 at 78.14 years), Infant Mortality (6.37 deaths/1,000 which ranks us about Italy, or roughly #146-150), or Public funding on Healthcare (#3 at $2,051.00 per capita. More than Canada even). I could go along with all the stats I find all day.
So almost everything he puts forward have no merit.
I have been to Mexico Border towns. THAT is third world. As I so indelicately put, Juarez is a squalid pisshole in comparison to a US city. Does it mean all of Mexico is? No. But i have not been to all of Mexico, and it is considered a third world country. (what I have read of other cities there, even Mexico city, is it is still crowded, dingy and dirty. Its the bit resort towns that are nice and clean).
My point is, DON'T BASH the USA if you are full of shit. Because I will call you out. America needs a good amount of work, and my cynical side says we are sliding ever towards a less free country that is slowly getting the Big Brother society. We have things to work on (like a public health care system).

We took our dogs to the local Petsmarts with a Vet clinic to get their shots done. We left with 4 dogs in the cab. We got there... and could only find 3...
I searched around there for hours, told the store....don't know How he disappeared.
Needless to say... rather distraught. Not a good day.

I think KIRS was great, it was a nice addition. But since F1 is dumping badly when it comes to money...they decided to BAN it. Wonderful. That is some of the most stupid logic i have run across.
