Rest in Peace Stan "The Man" Lee 1922-2018
Posted 7 years agoYesterday, the entire geek community just receive a devastating news. Stan Lee, co-founder of Marvel Comics and creator of many famous comic book superheroes such as The Hulk, Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, The Black Panther, Iron Man, The X-Men, and helped create The Avengers died of old age at 95 years old. He cameoed many Marvel movies from 2000 onward. I've always looked forward to see him make an appearance in any Marvel movie coming out. He seems like a really nice old man and a geek at heart. I've always had a feeling this day would come, but the news is still devastating. He lived a long life and touched many people with his characters. Rest in Peace, Stan. Excelsior!
Movie trailers - Toy Story 4 and Pokemon: Detective Pikachu
Posted 7 years agoWhen I heard there will be a Toy Story 4, I was hoping they would use different characters and a different story like they said they would. But, from what I've seen. It seems like it's the same old with a...unusual different character. I'll still go see it though.
When I heard about this one as well, I was hoping they wouldn't do it. For a long time, I hadn't heard much updates about it so I thought it was scrapped. Boy, was I wrong. It's exactly what I thought the movie will be when I heard about Detective Pikachu. I was really hoping they wouldn't do this one and just do a straight up live action adaptation of Pokémon. Oh well. At least the CGI pokemon looks amazing! Let's hope this one will succeed so at least they'll do an actual Pokémon movie with battles and such.
James Gun firing by Disney
Posted 7 years agoI usually don't write about certain news on my posts. I sometimes do, but only for just the entertainment types. This kind of is, but I think it goes with what's been happening this year in the fandom as well as around our country. So, here goes.
A couple days ago, from what I've read and seen so far is that a far right group of hackers went into James Gunn's twitter history and dug up some of his very old posts of the jokes he made at the time when he was trying to get attention by being provocative. Apparently, the tweets in question were about rape and pedophilia. Now, I hadn't been able to actually read the tweets themselves because none of the news articles showed them and they were no where to be found anywhere else. If he really did post those tweets, they are definitely indefensible and disgusting. But, he made those tweets almost a decade ago and he hasn't made those kinds of tweets since. As well as apologized for them years ago and had been a better person since.
So, was Disney right for firing him. I say yes and no. Yes because those tweets go against everything Disney stands for and they cannot have somebody who made them on their payroll. And no because those tweets were made many years ago and the man apologized for it. The reason for firing him is because they had to in order to prevent some of the media posting headlines about James Gun for making those kinds of tweets. So, it was PR nightmare and I feel for them. But, I think Disney should've grown some backbone about this because this was obviously a ploy by the extreme right wing for punishing Disney for firing Roseanne over her racist tweets. They were like, this guy made a tweet that was so much worse, why you still have him employed?! So, it's pretty much a loose-loose situation for Disney. If they defend him, the conservative news will say Disney is defending a man who jokes about pedophilia, if they fire him, people will say Disney did it to avoid that. So, it's messed up no matter how you view it.
I personally think Gunn should've deleted those tweets or at least deactivated his account and created a brand new one so that those tweets won't come back to haunt him after his public apology. But, hackers can still find a way no matter what. That's what scary about social media and the internet in general.
The whole thing on James Gunn kind of reminds me about what's been happening in the fandom as well as other things across our country. From accusations, to insults, to call outs, and attacks. I've been staying away from all this drama because I don't want to get roped into it and plus, I don't want to get accused or call something I'm not. If I defend the right, I'll be called a racist and a Nazi sympathizer, if I defend the left, I'll be called unpatriotic, a terrorist, and unAmerican. It's a loose-loose situation for centrists and those who truly believe in freedom of speech. It's unnerving for what's happening on social media.
In fact, this whole thing reminds me so much of the episode from The Orville. It's called Majority Rule and I highly recommend this episode to anyone. In this episode, the crew of The Orville went to a planet that looks like early 21st century Earth. On this planet, the entire population is run entirely by social media. Society is viewed by how many likes and dislikes you receive over your entire life and if you get enough dislikes, you have to go through a "apology tour". And if the population doesn't believe your apologies, they send you to the correction facility where they literally lobotomize you in order to become a "better citizen". It's quite a wake up call because it's pretty much about social media becoming judge, jury, and executioner on all opinions and actions. And I'm just afraid we might head down that road.
I think this is something we all should think about. Because mob mentality is a very dangerous thing and throughout history of mankind. Mob mentality has done nothing, but disastrous things.

Lucifer S3E23 Boo Normal features furries
Posted 7 years agoWhen I heard there was an episode on the show Lucifer that has furries in it. I didn't believe it at first, but then I saw clips and pictures of it, I decided to see it for myself. Because once you heard that a show has an episode that has furries in it, you go see it. Because you just don't know if it's in a positive light or in a negative light. And 5 times out of 10, it's usually negative.
After seeing the episode, I have to say it's pretty positive. In a comedic way. The episode itself is about the cop character and a CSI agent trying to solve a murder of a life coach. And there's a ghost in there for some reason. Which is weird, but considering the entire series has the devil in it. So, why not? *shrugs* Anyways, as they investigate, they found a closet and inside appears to be a fursuit. Turns out the victim is a furry as well. And as they looked more in the house, they overheard on a voicemail that somebody wants to get her for stealing Willy. Thinking it's a love triangle gone bad, the cop character decided to go undercover dressed in a fursuit to a furry convention. When they showed the furry convention, they showed actual fursuits in it. Fursuits that I recognize and can tell they are authentic. Not the typical cheap animal costumes you find in a local costume store. Actual fursuits. I was really surprised. I think they probably filmed it at an actual convention and castcall actual furries in the episode. I was impressed.
Like I said earlier, it was pretty positive, but in a comedic way. There was a part where the undercover cop came up to one dressed in a dolphin costume and the guy squeaked like an actual dolphin and squirted water on her. That was my "ugh" moment, but it wasn't bad. Other than one part, most of it was pretty positive.
I'm glad I watched it. It seems the creators and the writers handled the furry subject pretty well and respectful. Though, they still showed that it's weird, but good weird. Like going to a comic book convention. I wonder what other show will feature an episode that has furries in it.
Best way: Big Bang Theory. Worst way: Law & Order: SVU.

Sitting by the sidelines
Posted 7 years agoI feel like I should say something, but I don't get involved in typical furry drama going around in twitter. Though, I feel like I should at least say something.
Now, I'm what you would say a centrist. I have both conservative views and liberal views. Though, I'm leaning more on liberal than conservative. I believe in equality for everybody. Gender, racial, religious, and sexual. Everybody has a right to be treated like a human being and have the same rights as much as everybody. Be it for voting, housing, marriage, etc. Everybody deserves to be treated as equal. But, I'm a strong believer in the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. Everybody has freedom to speak their minds, practice any religion, to publish, to protest, and to gather.
When I became part of the fandom, I always found it to be a very accepting group of people. No matter what race, religion, sexuality, or politics everybody is welcome. If you're a fan of cartoons or any kind of anthropomorphism, you're part of the fandom. Sure, there are a few bad apples, but overall the fandom is a very accepting place. Perhaps too accepting. Because there are a few instances when it seems few members tend to like stuff that is unacceptable and downright illegal. They should've never been part of the fandom in first place and they give the fandom a bad name. Glad to see the fandom is improving itself upon that.
That being said, this is when I begin to see where many of the members are becoming divisive. It's bad enough to see this type of divide outside in our country and many parts around the world, but seeing it in the fandom is scaring me. The us against them attitude. What I like about the fandom is that politics through out the door once you enter. No one cares what you believe in, it shouldn't matter. But, it seems it has to matter now.
The one thing I have noticed that the majority of the fandom are members of the LGBT community. And that is great. Because if there's one group that is very accepting of that, it's this. That's what I like about this fandom. No matter who or what you are, you're accepted. But, right now. It feels like it's not like that.
I was pretty much standing by the sidelines as the title said. Because if there's one thing I learned after many years being part of the fandom, is stay away from drama. No matter if you agree to the one side. I've sucked myself into drama before and it was a very pleasant experience. Which is why I stay away from any drama that pops out. But, sometimes you got to say something.
From twitter, I've seen people being accused, being called out, attacking left and right, and even doxing at one point. It got so bad, that this website had no choice but to ban certain members of a certain group. When that happened, my first thought was, "Huh. They did it." *shrugs* Though, during all this, I'm reminded of a certain episode from a show.
The show was Beast Machines and there's an episode that stuck with me for a long time. The episode was about Optimus Prime on discovering that his friend Rinox's mind is in one of Megatron's main bad guy's body. So, he tries to go inside his mind to free him. But, he discovered he's not the same Rinox he knew. It seems he has changed from a lovable guy who believes in freedom to a guy who doesn't. Magetron believes that there should be no individuality because individuality brings chaos and war and with no individuality there's peace. Rinox believes it now. When the rest of Optimus' crew realized it as well, they try to hack into his brain and change him. Optimus stops them saying it's wrong. If they try to change his mind and punish him for his views, they are no better than Megatron. And that stuck with me since them.
If you punish people for having another opinion that is way different than yours, you're no better than those types of people. Now, that doesn't mean white supremacists and Nazis are right. They are wrong in every single moment. But, all they are doing is speaking their minds and like it or now, they have a right to say it. Because, down to it there just words. All we can do is ignore it. They're only 3% of the entire population of this nation, so it's not like they'll do anything. Now, when they start arming themselves and planning to take drastic measures, that's when you do something. But, punching someone in the face because you don't like his viewpoints is not right. And doxing people for showing up to Nazi rallies is not right. Calling them out and punishing them for having a different viewpoint is not right. Because if you do, they'll do it right back. They'll fight back and they'll fight back hard.
The best you can do fight against racism and prejudice is by ignoring them and education. Education is the pure fire way to fight against racism and prejudice. The more people learn that hating people because they are different is wrong, we'll live in a better world.
The point I'm trying to make is that neither side is right and neither side is wrong. Even though one side is more right than the other, attacking one another is not the answer. The one great thing about the furry fandom is that no matter what side of the political spectrum you're part of or what sexuality, race, or religion you're part of, we're all here to celebrate cartoons and anthropomorphic characters. That's what the fandom is all about. I just hope people won't forget that.

Tomb Raider - movie review
Posted 7 years agoI'm not much of a video gamer, but I have heard and know of Lara Croft. She was very popular back in the 90s. Hell, she was just as popular as Mario, Fox McCloud, Sonic, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro back then. Even though I never played a single game, I had heard they were fun. But, if you look at them now, you can tell they were made for teenage boys. I did saw the original Lara Croft: Tomb Raider starring Angelina Jolie and even though it was a fun movie, the story wasn't much there. It was a typical pre-9/11 action movie. I didn't bother to see the sequel because the original wasn't that good.
So, when I heard about the remake, I wanted to go see it because Lara Croft is such an interesting character that I think she'll do good in movies. And perhaps end the stigma of video games don't make good movies.
And after I saw it, it didn't end the stigma. The movie was ok. I did like the action scenes and Lara Croft was seen as a regular person trying to survive. It was pretty much an origin story of the character herself. Which is interesting, but I've seen this type of movie before. In fact, if you seen any Indiana Jones movie, even the Crystal Skull one, you've seen this movie. There isn't much to add to this. It's a typical clichéd adventure flick. Not that it's a bad thing. If you never seen this type of movie before, you would like it very much.
Overall, an ok adventure movie to see on a rainy day or on a plane. If you're a huge fan of Lara Croft and played all the games, you would like this movie.

A Wrinkle in Time - movie review
Posted 7 years agoWhen I heard about the slate of live action movies Disney will make a few years ago, this was among them. I've never heard of A Wrinkle in Time, even though I keep hearing its one of the many classic kids novels for many years. So, I pretty much know very much nothing of the story at all. But, does make me intrigue on it since I always like stories that have both science fiction and fantasy. Especially since I'm a big Star Wars fan. Though, I keep hearing it's a very complicated and confusing story and some people think it won't translate well onto film. So, this movie could go either way.
The movie itself was pretty much what I heard about the book itself. Confusing, complicated, and full of pretty images. I was having a hard time trying to make sense into most of what I was seeing and keeping track with the characters. The editing and the pacing was all over the place. And the writing isn't exactly good either. The visual effects were pretty good, though. But, that's all the good things I could come up with. The story was also pretty basic. It's about a girl who wants to find her father and three magical women help find her while training her to be a warrior of light. Along the way, she learns to express her faults and create some hope for herself. And that's it.
Overall, the movie was ok. Not great, but not bad either. The visual effects were pretty good for a movie like this, but the writing and the pacing wasn't very well done. They pretty much made the movie just like the book and perhaps that's where the faults lie. There are some books that are meant to be movies and others just aren't. And this one isn't meant to be one.

First Time Viewing - The Dark Crystal (review)
Posted 7 years agoYeah I know. Surprise surprise. There's like tens of thousands of movies Hollywood has made in the last 90 years they've been around. So, it's hard for me to keep up and watch them all with not just time, but also money.
Anyways, heard The Dark Crystal was being played for a few select days at a theater and decide to go see it for the first time. Been hearing it's a cult classic and it's one of the most favorites from any Henson fan. Though, my theater experience watching the movie wasn't all that great since I keep hearing snickering and chuckling throughout the film. Either it's their first time viewing the movie as well or they had seen it and just want to make fun of it.
Well, the movie itself. Is quite good. The puppetry was top notch back then. Even though seems cheesy today. The story, scenery, and characters were all pretty original and you can tell they put in their heart and soul in this movie and it shows. I can see why it gained a fandom throughout all these years. Though, I can see why it didn't do so well when it first came out. The execution wasn't very well throughout. You can tell they put in last minute changes to make it passable for the general audience. I do like world and the origins they created. Very original. But, the execution done by puppetry is a bit silly. Maybe if they used CGI today and not use much of the dialogue in there it could be an all out fantasy classic.
Overall, it's a movie to watch just to see what Henson had created. Or if you're a huge fan of Henson and Labyrinth, you will love this movie.

Black Panther - movie review
Posted 7 years agoEven though I'm a comic book fan as well as a Marvel fan, I do not know much about Black Panther. Never read a single comic about him. My only exposure on the character is from the 90's Fantastic Four animated series as well as the Avengers: EMH on Disney XD. But, I know enough of him to think he's a pretty badass superhero. So, when they announced a movie on Black Panther himself, I was excited. Especially since he made such an awesome debut in Captain America: Civil War.
The movie was very much how everybody is hyping up as. I love how they brought the kingdom of Wakanda to life on the big screen. The architecture, the culture, the clothes, the politics. I was intrigue in this whole thing. I'm surprised it was never made as a TV series. Every character is fleshed out very well. Surprising for a superhero movie considering the only character fleshed out is the main hero him/herself in those movies. The director did an awesome job bringing a fantasy country from the comics to life. And bring in a lot of African culture into it. And every actor and actress did an awesome job portraying their characters. I'm actually looking forward to a Black Panther sequel.
Even though it's still styled as a superhero movie, it's a superhero movie that's done very well and doesn't feel like a atypical superhero movies. Still have some of the clichés, but it's not that noticeable.
I highly recommend this movie to anyone that wants to see a really good movie.

Ferdinand - movie review
Posted 7 years agoI didn't read the story when I was a child, but I did loved the Disney short when they use to air old shorts on the Disney Channel. So, when I saw the trailers for the newest animated movie from Blue Sky Studios called Ferdinand, I wasn't so sure about it. How they would make a short kids story about a gentle bull into a full length feature? But, hopefully the movie won't be Ice Age sequel bad. This is pretty much the last chance for Blue Sky Studios to make a good animated blockbuster that's not an Ice Age sequel. Considering it's owned by 20th Century Fox and just recently been bought by Disney.
For the movie itself. It was.....meh. It definitely wasn't bad. Could've been worse. But, I found myself rolling my eyes somewhat to some of the scenes they put in there because it's typical for a family animated movie for putting stuff in there. Though, the story was ok and they message from the original story still holds strong. But, the characters are forgettable and the writing was not that great. You can tell the actors tried hard to put something in the characters considering all have nothing to work with. The animation is nice as always and that's the only great thing I can say about it.
Overall, a serviceable animated movie that'll make kids quiet for an hour and a half. But, it won't be remembered that much in the long run.
I feel bad for Blue Sky considering they don't have a great track record. They only had two great movies and one good one. Ice Age, The Peanuts Movie, and Rio. Others were just bad. Though, maybe once the government trial goes through, Blue Sky could be owned by Disney as well. Weird that Disney will own three animation studios. Itself, Pixar, and Blue Sky. But, will it still be around or will it be shut down. Depends on how this movie will do in the long run. And from the looks of it, I'm not so sure of it.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle - movie review
Posted 8 years agoBefore the main review, let me talk about the original. I loved the original when it came out back in 1995 (showing my age. :P). Robin Williams was at a height of his popularity at the time along with the child star Kirsten Dunst. I was a huge fan of the book when I was a kid and when they made a movie about it, I went to it at opening weekend. It was everything I imagined the movie would be. It was a great concept about playing a game where things come to life and wreak havoc in the real world. The movie still holds up a bit even though the CGI effects don't hold up much now in days. So, when they announced a new Jumanji movie, I wasn't excited because the original was good on it's own. There's no need for a sequel or even a reboot considering most kids now in days don't even play board games anymore. But, when they mentioned it'll be video game based, that made sense. So, looking forward to see how it'll work.
After watching it, it did worked. I like that the game changed from the board game to a video game to make it modern and this time the players gets sucked into the game and has to win in it in order to get out. Each character is unique and each actor playing each one did an amazing job. Dwayne Johnson playing a germaphopic nerd and Jack Black playing a high school princess was really good. And the woman playing a awkward girl was good, too. Kevin Hart is still Kevin Hart though. The villain was very one note, but it is playing off the typical video game clichés, so it works. As a matter of fact, it played on with video game quirks and clichés very well. The writing was well done for a family adventure movie. Even though it has a couple dick jokes in there. *shrugs*
Overall, a fun adventure movie you would expect from a Jumanji movie. Don't think there'll be a sequel since the ending didn't leave for one. But, if you're a fan of the original Jumanji movie, you'll like this one as well.

Star Wars Ep. 8 - The Last Jedi - movie review
Posted 8 years agoJust to start off this review by saying that this is not your typical Star Wars movie. It's darker and more twistier than any of the previous ones. And that's not a bad thing. Just when you thought one part of the movie will go to one direction, it does the exact opposite. It keeps you guessing on where it's going. I'm not exactly a huge fan of those kinds of plots, but if done well, you can enjoy it. And I had enjoyed it.
The acting is good, the cinematography is splendid, and the special effects are supreme as always. Though, I'm not sure if this movie will please most Star Wars fans since it's so much different than the rest, but considering the biggest critique on The Force Awakens by most cynical fans is that it's almost the same as A New Hope. So, this could please even the most cynical of the fans.
Overall, a very good Star Wars movie. Recommended for anyone who is a Star Wars movie and anyone that wants to see a Star Wars movie done differently.

Coco - movie review
Posted 8 years agoBefore I get to the movie, I'll talk about the Frozen short first. I don't think it's that bad. It's cute and there were some funny parts in there, but I had a feeling it was meant to be shown on TV as a Christmas special to be shown on ABC during the holidays. And it's obvious Disney put that in there because they didn't have faith that Coco won't do as well as they hoped it would. Considering the last Pixar movie that was released in November was The Last Dinosaur and that didn't do so well in the box office. And Cars 3 didn't make as much as it should either. So, they put the Frozen short hoping it'll bring in more numbers. It worked for the live action Cinderella when they put Frozen Fever in it. But, in truth, Coco is great enough without it. They should've shown Olaf's Frozen Adventure on TV like it was originally planned.
Anyways, Coco itself was a great movie. Extremely touching. Made me teared up a couple times. At first, I had trouble getting into the story, but as it continued I found myself getting into it more and more. When I thought the story was going to one way, turns out it didn't. I like it when a twist surprises me. And as far as how it depicts the culture and the holiday of the Day of the Dead. It's done ten times better than the Book of Life. And that was a good movie that deserves more attention. The music itself was fantastic and touching as well. It's pretty much about music and family. And you don't have to understand the holiday in order to get the themes.
Overall, another fantastic Pixar movie. Perfect movie to be watched by anybody.

Justice League - movie review
Posted 8 years agoBefore I say something about Justice League, here are my thoughts on the DCU movies so far. I don't know why each one gets all the hate from some fans (not Wonder Woman so far), but I enjoyed every single one of them. Sure they all have flaws, but if you have a great time watching them and see pass the flaws. Then, the movies did their jobs. Man of Steel I thought was one of the best Superman movies of today. It's different and it deals with Superman the person. Batman vs. Superman I thought had some issues and didn't like it at first, but after a few more viewings and seeing the Ultimate edition made me appreciate it more. Suicide Squad I had a blast watching it. Even though it had flaws, I still enjoyed it. The extended edition made it more sense, too. Wonder Woman has already been praised enough, so I wouldn't say much else to it.
I've been rooting for DC and Warner Brothers to do a Justice League movie because if there's any superhero group that deserves one, it's this one. And boy did I really enjoy this movie. It has some flaws here and there and a few edit errors at a few places. But, overall, it's a Justice League movie that I've always wanted to see. Close enough that is. Should've it been better? Of course, but it's close enough for me. Each character was done just right. From Wonder Woman and Batman to Aquaman, Flash, and Cyborg. Even Superman was done better. Even though that's kind of a spoiler, but I think it already has been from the reportings.
Anyways, I think everybody should ignore the critics because they hate movies when they see flaws. If you're able to ignore the flaws, you will enjoy this movie. Though, at times it does feel like there were two directors working on this movie. You can tell which scene was done by Joss Whedon and which ones was done by Zack Snyder. But, you can barely tell since it worked slow well together. You could also tell it's been cut down for time. We'll probably see all of their deleted scenes once it's out on Blu-Ray.
I do recommend this movie to any DC or superhero fan. There are a few easter eggs in there, so pay attention. And definitely stay for the after-credit scenes. There's a fun one at the beginning and at the very end, it's something very interesting. Trust me.
Overall, a fun superhero team up movie. Some flaws here and there, but still a ton of fun.

Thor: Ragnarok - movie review
Posted 8 years agoBefore I get to the movie itself, I'll talk about my thoughts on the first two as well as Thor's involvement in the Avengers movies. The first Thor movie was decently good. It's a basic superhero movie set in a fantasy world with a fish-out-of-water story. Typical, but still fitting for Thor in the MCU. The second one, Thor: The Dark World, was just as good. Pretty much the same except more Jane involvement because of Natalie Portman. His involvement with the Avengers have changed a bit in both movies. In the first one, he's pretty much the same like he was in the first Thor movie. In the second one however, he seems more comedic. And I've noticed that they are making Thor into more of a comedic role than a serious heroic role that Thor has mostly been known. And that's where it brings to the third movie. Thor: Ragnarok.
When I first saw the teaser and the man trailer, I had a couple thoughts about it. It looked like a fun movie, but it's probably going to be different than the other Thor movies. And I was right. It's definitely way different than the first two. The first two were a bit more serious and has a fantasy tone in them. Fitting for the hero Thor. But, the third one, is more comedic. It has the same type of tone and fun bits like the Guardians movies. Which brings me to say that Thor: Ragnarok feels more of a Guardians movie than a Thor movie.
Don't get me wrong. I had a lot of fun with this movie. Lots of good action scenes, good funny scenes, and each character worked in this tone. But, at the same time. I feel like this should've been a Guardians movie than a Thor movie. Kind of feel the same way on Guardians 2. They put in a little too much jokes in this one than any previous marvel movies. Just as much as Guardians 2, though. I feel that if they scale back the jokes and make the tone a bit more serious, than it'll be a Thor movie. I get it that they have to keep the franchise fresh by making each movie differently. They did that with others. Like Cap 2 was more of a political thriller, Ant-Man was a heist movie, Guardians of the Galaxy was a space fantasy opera. What I like about Thor is that they put in a fantasy like world in the MCU. And I thought that fit well, but they decided to do something completely different in this one. Which I get and I still enjoyed it. Do want to see it again. I did like they put in a bit of Planet Hulk storyline in there and it did well. The fight scenes are excellent as always. And we get to see Thor's Viking rage, which is awesome. And the Immigrant song by Led Zeppelin is well done, too. But, at the same time. It feels like it would've been better in a Guardians movie.
Overall, this is a fun new edition to the MCU franchise. If you like to see Thor done in a new way, see this movie. Or if you just like to see a fun marvel movie because you like the MCU movies so far, then you can see it, too.

The Furpocalypse con theme issue
Posted 8 years agoWell, another furry drama has come in terms of twitter yet again. This time over its theme. Haunted Asylum.
Now, when I heard about its theme. I thought no big deal. Because it's one of those haunted themes that's been used for decades in any medium. From scary books to horror movies to haunted mazes and even tv shows. Hollywood and the entertainment industry as a whole have used that concept on it. A lot of people actually like the subject as well. It's something that certain people like to go into depth on why those old asylums are haunted and the stories that come out of it really bring out many to think on the subject on how mental patients have been treated in the past. Plus, it makes one hell of a scary story and you definitely don't want to visit an actual one. Even during the day.
But, of course. That's when the SJWs come swooping in. Saying it's glorying torture and abuse of mental patients at the time. And many had even want to protest the convention itself to even make such a theme. Demanding to immediately change it as it's only one month away. Some even suggested to come into the convention to disrupt it as a way of punishing the convention board to have the theme. And in retaliation of this. the convention itself decided to send refunds to some of the people who already bought passes to go there to prevent this kind of thing and that's when the shit hit the fan.
I'm usually the one that stays out of furry drama the best I can. Because I really don't want to get all caught up in a shit storm that is the furry fandom. But, I want to have a take on this. On both sides.
Now, on the one hand, Furpocalypse has decided on a theme that's been used before. In theme park haunted mazes to movies and tv shows. It's something a lot of horror fans can get behind as a theme. On the other hand, I can understand the SJWs. Because trying to "glorify" the torture and abuse of mental patients in pre-1970s is something that should be talked about. But, they did it in the wrong way. If you didn't like the theme, then why didn't you ask for a refund and not go there. Instead of complaining publicly about it and insult the convention board for making the theme. Even go as far as outright said you'll do something drastic to the convention itself. If you don't like the theme, then don't buy the pass to go to the convention and don't go to it at all. So that the board wouldn't have to refund your pass to prevent you from going. I mean, where was the outcry when the sicko Eli Roth made Hostel, where was the outcry when Saw was a popular franchise, and especially where was the uproar when American Horror Story ran an entire season on a haunted asylum.
I pretty much said my piece on this and that's all I will say. And I'm sure the drama have long since passed already considering that's how most internet dramas last now in days. In my opinion, the theme Furpocalypse has used is no big deal. The theme has been used by many types of medium and will continue for a long time. Though, I do understand where some people come from on the history of torture and abuse of mental patients. And that's something that should be talked about in terms of sensitivity.
And that's my two cents.

Kingsmen 2: The Golden Circle - movie review
Posted 8 years agoBefore I talk about the sequel, I'll talk about the original. At first, I enjoyed the hell out of the first one. It's so over the top fun. It deals with the typical tropes of the old spy movies and makes fun of it while being a legitimate movie. The characters were great and the action was awesome. Though, I thought at first was a one time roller coaster. The type where you know it looks scary, but once you ride it you enjoyed it. And then, you don't want to ride it again because it was that intense. Then, once you ride it a few more times, it grows on you. Which is what the original is. And when the sequel came up, I was looking forward to it.
And the movie delivers what I was expected. It's the same over the top action spy flick we all come to know and love. But, it adds some social commentary on the drug issue as well as the politics behind it. And I thought it did very well. Love the Statesmen they added in on this. Makes me wonder if they'll try that in future sequels. Now, if there's a nitpick, it's that it feels the same. Pretty much suffers what all sequels suffers. More of what made the first one successful. But, I was more intrigued with the social commentary they put in this movie and I think it'll make people think on this subject. An action movie that makes you think? Astonishing. And the president in this movie is what our current president will say and do in this situation. ;)
Overall, if you like Kingsmen: The Secret Service, you'll enjoy The Golden Circle. If you love The Secret Service, you'll love The Golden Circle even more.

Linkin Park lead singer just committed suitcide!!! O.O

This is truly one of the sad days for music history. And a huge sad day for all alternative fans. I was and still am a huge fan of the band. I love almost all of their albums. From their first one Hybrid Theory which I think it's one of their bests and their second best Metorea. I even listened to their latest ones over the years, a few they made for couple of the Transformers movies, and the newest one they did Heavy. This band was the most I've listened to throughout high school and college. Whenever I feel down, or need a pick me up, or just want to drive off and jam, Linkin Park was the band I want to listen to. It's a sad day for all of us fans. I hope he'll find peace wherever he is.

What's ruining Cartoon Network?
Posted 8 years agoThis pretty much tells us what's going on with Cartoon Network now in days.
I remember when Cartoon Network was introduced in the 90's. It was a cable channel that features only cartoons of old and current. And back then, I thought it was a great idea. I was a kid then and a huge fan of cartoons. Still am, though. :P When I got cable, I watched it and that was when it introduced Cartoon Cartoons. I wasn't a huge fan of them since they were taking over and the old cartoons were pretty much taking out and only original programming was coming in. During then, the only time I watched Cartoon Network was Toonami. It had great American made action shows as well as some great anime. Especially since it was featuring DragonBall and DragonBall Z. Two of my favorite animes of all time. Then, Toonami ended and I couldn't find anything watchable on the channel until Regular Show. But now, it seems things are changing to the channel. It all started with Teen Titans Go. A show that's pretty much all about the Lulz. Because that's what young kids like now in days. And it's starting to go downhill from there. Will Cartoon Network be saved?
What ruined Saturday Morning Cartoons?
Posted 8 years agoThis video was very informative about what ended Saturday Morning Cartoons. This tv block was around for over 40 years. So many people from several generations grew up with it. I always thought it was one or two things that lead to its demise, but this video shows it was several other reasons for it. From angry parent groups that bullied FCC to the internet to competition and to growing technology. Take a look and you'll see how it all came to an end. In silence when Vortex on The CW, the last remaining Saturday Morning Cartoon block, was ended without giving a single note about its long tradition.
My Little Pony: The Movie official trailer
Posted 8 years agoEven though I'm not a brony persay, but the movie does look pretty good. It keeps the same tone, comedy, and story that the show does and it looks more movie quality than the tv show. Even though I hadn't watched the show in quite a while now.
What do you guys think?
Despicable Me 3 - movie review
Posted 8 years agoI'm not a huge fan of this franchise. Mostly because I think the movies are just ok. They're not terrible, just ok. The first one was unique in its own way, but overall it's decent enough for the young kids to like it. The characters are interesting enough, though. The sequel was alright. Pretty much the same. Never a fan of the Minions, though. Especially when they had their own movie. Goes to show that some characters are good in small doses. Not as a main course. And considering I've seen them so far, it makes sense for me to see what the 3rd installment will bring.
And.....it's kind of the same movie. There are more subplots in this one than the last two, but less complicated. It's still filled with the same type of humor that young kids will like and with a few that the adults like. Though, I do love the villain they have in there. They put in a lot of 80s references in there and I like it. Though, I didn't noticed that the movie put in a few shots against Disney and Pixar. Not very subtle I should say.
Overall, if you're a fan of the Despicable Me movies. You'll like this one just as much as the rest.

Transformers 5: The Last Knight - movie review
Posted 8 years agoI'm sure I'll get crap for it, but I actually like the Transformers movies. I know they're bad movies (with the exception of the first one), but they're enjoyable to watch. I only watch them for the transforming robot fights and that's it. They're my guilty pleasures. I know they're bad, but I can't help but enjoy them for what they are. Now for the latest movie of the infamous franchise. Will this one be the one that will finally be the good one that many hope for or will it be just another CGI action shlock?
IF I have to be honest, it's just another CGI action movie schlock. But, what do we expect? *shrugs* I mean come on. Nobody is expecting these movies to be award winners by any means. They're just action pleasures for the eyes. Something we just put in if we want to be entertained after a mundane or stressful day. I think the reason why all of these movies have such bad reviews from so many people is most likely with the "comedy". And I put that lightly. The comedy they have in those movies are like what a 10 year old would put in. Same goes with this one. It's pretty much the same movie. If put all five of them end to end. You won't see much of the difference.
If there's one good thing I can say about the movies is that each one explore the mythos of the Transformers universe. You learn more about them with each movie and why they have a huge connection to Earth. You kind of learn more with each movie they put out. Even though this is suppose to be the last one, I have a feeling that they will still make a sixth one.
Overall, if you enjoy the Transformers franchise, you will like this movie. If you're part of the movie going audience....well....I'm sure you already made up your mind about it before you go into it.
