The next year or so of conventions
Posted 11 years agoJust going to keep editing this journal to keep track of cons.
"insert social event here"
Yeah....not right now.

I...uh...found it? (edit)
Posted 12 years agoI have no idea how that happened (or how it stayed there), but I found my necklace hidden in a fold of the OUTSIDE of my backpack. The one I had taken with me all over the place, and swung all around. I have no idea how it stayed there...but I'm really glad it did.
Thanks Crimson for expressing concern :)

MFF nearby!
Posted 12 years agoEdited so I could change that I've got everything set now! See you there!
So apparently I'm going to IFC!
Posted 12 years agoI almost forgot that I should post that, especially since my top journal at the time was that my next con was MFF >_>
Anyways, yeah, managed to get it so I only needed 1 day off work to go, and everything lined up so I'll be there late Thursday night.

Suppose everyone else is making one...post MFF
Posted 13 years agoI don't think I ever suffer from PCD, but I'll definitely miss those I was with at MFF this year. For some reason or another I rarely ever saw the people I usually see at cons, but my roommates were around to keep things fun. Saturday night I wasn't even at the con, had a dual-birthday party to go to that was an hour and a half away, but that was good fun too. All in all, quite the satisfying experience!
I had to let go of my expectations (of seeing people and going to certain events) early into the con as people were letting me down, but once I did, it was all great ^_^

and AC is done!
Posted 13 years agoHad lots of fun, made new friends, got to try out the Pittsburgh version of public transportation (Chicago's is SOOO much better), and stayed until today. I suppose I'm glad to be home, but by the time Sunday came around I was actually being SOCIAL and I have to imagine that's going to regress back to my usual before long. Thanks to everyone that made this con great!
AC Meme (now that I know I'm going)
Posted 13 years agoWho will you hang out with during the convention?
Any friends interested in my company really....so basically whoever I find. Anyone want me to seek out their company specifically?
Are there any panels you might be attending?
Probably
Steelthewarrior's MLP panel, other than that I don't even know what panels there are.
Will you be suiting?
Only if someone loans me one. I like suiting, but I don't have one.
What is your gender?
Male
How tall are you?
5'8''
Are you taken? Are you looking for a 'mate'?
Nope, certainly not taken. I don't think I'd look for a mate at anthrocon though, I'd want someone more local to me after all.
Can I talk to you?
I dunno, can you? I'll only use that joke once :P
Can I touch you?
Prefer I at least know you already, but friends online should count. Just...you know, be sure I know who you are first...
How can I find you?
I'll have a big backpack on most of the time, badges that say Konran assuming I remember them, good chance I'll have some purple on (in the least my shoes have black/purple checkerboard on them and purple laces). If I'm sitting I may have my widescreen laptop in front of my face.
Can I visit your room?
You could try, but considering that all except 1 night I'm staying at a friend's house...not very likely.
Can I buy you drinks?
As long as they're actually good drinks. Beer and wine are awful and most alcohol in general has a bad taste to it because I can taste the alcohol itself very well. I suppose mixed drinks are the best luck there.
Can I give you stuff?
Why is this a question on this? That's just weird...that someone would say no. I suppose if it were garbage I wouldn't accept it.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Really the same answer as touch. If I'm allowing you to touch me, there's really not much distance to travel to hugging and stuff.
Are you nice?
To friends, yes. To not-friends? Eh....sometimes?
How long are you going?
Thursday night to Monday morning.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Wave, call out my name, possibly tackle hug....a combination of the first 2 works best.
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
Wandering, I imagine. Probably a good portion will be spent in the gaming areas though.
What/where will you be eating?
Can't really say specifically. If friends invite me to eat, wherever they're going. Otherwise...*shrugs*
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
I'm certainly happy to have company.
Can I take your picture?
Don't know why you would, but the likelihood I'll object is low.
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
To have fun and not regret anything.

The comparison meme
Posted 14 years agoI have to admit, I'm loving this thing so far. I've always been interested in what people REALLY look like and if they resemble their fursona at all, so to have a meme devoted to that very topic has me quite happy ^_^
As far as I go, I already stated basing my fursona's build off of my own, and have a recent picture of myself up...I guess I might go the extra step if I get bored though. I'd like to emulate his hair...mine hasn't grown enough yet though.

Posted 14 years agoWhere are you staying?
My apartment, probably. If offered I may crash in people's rooms, but I won't pay for a room at a con I live near.
What day are you getting there and what day are you leaving?
I may show up Friday night, but more likely Saturday.
Who will you be with?
Whoever I find I imagine.
If you have a significant other, will that person be there?
...nope.
How old are you?
28
How tall are you?
5'9"
What do you look like?
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1394128/ you may need to refresh it. Submission is old, but I replaced the photo.
What is your badge name?
Konran
What do you prefer to be called?
Drake, typically. My furry name came years after everyone was used to calling me my nickname, so it's a bit late for that.
Will you have any fursuits?
I don't own any, but I may end up wearing one or two.
Can I touch you?
Do I know and like you? Same answer.
Can I talk to you?
I imagine so, yeah.
Can I take pictures with you?
Why would you want to do that? That's just odd...
Are you nice?
I can be. I'm rather blunt and sarcastic a lot of the time, but there's niceness as well...somewhere deep down.
Are you cliquey?
I do hang out with cliques...but I'm part of a whole bunch of them. I don't quite fit in that well with any of them, but well enough to be considered part of them...if that makes any sense.
Can I stalk you?
You can try.
Can I buy you lots of drinks?
LOTS of drinks? Err....I guess? Seems like an odd question. Good luck finding something I actually like though.
Can I hug or snuggle you?
Do I know and like you? Same answer.
-Some questions removed for pointlessness-
What should I not do around you?
Smell badly, be a bigot (jokingly is different), various other offensive things...take anything that belongs to me, even jokingly.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
If I lack headphones, just call out to me, if I have headphones, hand-waving or if I know you a surprise hug will do.

Personality Profile
Posted 14 years agoNeeded to save this somewhere...
Unflappable
You are not a slave to your emotions. It takes a lot to upset or unnerve you. That's why you're a good person to have around in a crisis.
You don't let it all hang out, which means that those around you often don't know the pressures you're under or what you're going through. You're not the kind of person people run from in a crisis.
Pessimistic
You tend to be a "glass half-empty" kind of person, which for you is simply a realistic outlook. Your feeling is that this world can be a depressing place, and only a fool would think otherwise.
You do not waste your time searching for the silver lining in every cloud, nor do you believe it's your job to cheer up the people around you with happy talk.
Pragmatic
You have found that people with sad stories are usually looking for attention or have brought their problems upon themselves. Therefore, you don't obsess about what others are thinking or feeling; if they have something important to tell you, you figure, they'll just come out and say it.
You do not feel the need to always know what people around you are thinking and feeling, and you don't encourage them to turn to you when they have problems.
Loose
You feel that a clean, orderly desk is the sign of a person who doesn't have enough to do. Schedules and "to do" lists feel stifling; you thrive on a sense that anything goes, and know that the world won't end if you don't clean up after finishing a job.
You don't need to know that everything is in its place; it is not empowering to you to feel that the world around you is neat and organized. Mowing down every item on your "to do" list, every day, does not bring you joy.
Solitary
You are a private person, not very comfortable in a big group, and view excessive socializing as a waste of time.
You do not prefer hanging out with others to spending time alone; you do not tend to feel at home in a crowded room, club, stadium, or auditorium.
Self-Contained
You like to stick to your own business and leave the power struggles to others; you know who you are and what you believe in, but you don't see any reason to impose your values on everyone else.
You generally don't get involved in organizing or motivating people, and you don't feel the need to always be seen as a big public decision-maker.
Cooperative
You enjoy teamwork, play well with others, and prefer getting along to winning.
You're not compelled to win every contest nor to be right all the time.
Unsentimental
You are tough-minded; you don't let sentimental thinking keep you from seeing, and speaking, the truth. You don't let your feelings, and the feelings of others, prevent you from making rational decisions.
You don't feel the need to tiptoe around others to keep from upsetting them, or to always look for the kindest way to say something.
Prudent
You look before you leap, think before you act, consider what you're about to say before you open your mouth to speak; that's why you rarely have to eat your words.
You usually don't get excited easily or blurt out the first thing that comes to mind without considering the consequences.
Innovative
You come up with a lot of ideas; if one doesn't work out, there's always another waiting in the wings. You often have interesting solutions to difficult problems. You're practically a one-person brainstorming session.
You are less interested changing the world than in dealing with things as they are. Unlike those who spend all their time trying to solve problems, you prefer to zero in on things that work and stick with them.

Upcoming events
Posted 14 years agoThere are none! In the end I've decided to hold off on cons until MFF. It's sort of a coincidence really, but I should be in a better situation financially by November so that's when I'll start going to cons again and sure enough, there IS one! Sorry to those I'll miss that usually see me at AC or those that were hoping I'd go to StormCon. I'll be changing my con schedule next year anyway, so we'll see which ones I can fit in.
Until next time!
Until next time!
Eh, why not...FCN Meme
Posted 14 years agoWhere are you staying?
Main hotel with
Arashiin currently,
Rex and
max-hykova may end up showing up. In theory we have space for 1 more on the bed, so any friend of me or Ara might end up there if they need a space to crash.
Who will you be with?
Probably
Alkalibismuth,
ferretsrule, and crew. Not entirely sure who else is even going. Oh, and whoever is staying at my room as well.
Do you do art trades?
Sure, I'll trade you money, you trade me arts.
What suits will you have?
Business casual? Kidding, no fursuits here, although I'd enjoy getting in one. Too bad Allen's best one is too form-fitting for me to try on...
Can I touch you?
Do I know you? Same answer.
Can I talk to you?
Anything is possible, although unlikely if I have headphones on.
Can I buy you lots of drinks?
If they're good. Zombie, Swamp Water, a few others that don't come to my mind immediately...bacardi 151 seems a safe bet so far.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Do I know you? Amazingly...same answer!
How tall are you?
5'9''
You look pissed off out of suit. Can I come up to you?
That's...probably unwise. If you're a close friend though, I probably would calm down with a hug...you're just going to have to manage to sneak up on me.
Are you cliquey?
Jack of all cliques, member of none. Self-imposed title.
Can I stalk you?
Probably not, I'd lose you.
How long are you going?
Arriving Thursday, leaving Sunday.
Do you like parties?
Generally, depends on the theme.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
You could flail your arms and yell "DRAKE!" or "KONRAN!" and there's a decent chance I'll notice you. If you're a friend you're welcome to just come right up to me and hug me.
Going to be a weird year this year, FCN and then a long long wait until MFF for another con. First time in many years I won't be hitting AC, so you won't be seeing an AC meme this year.

Older...woo?
Posted 15 years agoSo...I've had boring birthdays in the past, but I think this one really lacks the cake. Usually I'll do SOMETHING for my birthday, but this time around I seem to have no plans. I don't even have a roommate since he went to Toledo this morning for a trip (coincidentally on my birthday...but no, he didn't know in advance :P ) I had thought maybe I'd treat myself to a movie, but what's out there worth seeing? Too bad I went and saw RED with my mother, otherwise that would have been a good choice. Ah well, at least work was pleasant.
Still exist
Posted 15 years agoJust thought I'd say as much. Various incidents have made it harder to be in contact with people, but I'm figuring things out and getting things more in order.

Posted 15 years agoWhere are you staying?
Westin
What day are you getting there?
Thursday
Who will you be with?
I'm rooming with
allenjohnson and will likely be hanging with my roommate
williamyamagoshi, his mate
wolfboyx9, our friend
jasonmiller and his mate AJ (no FA)
Do you do free art?
Not really, although it might be funny to doodle out some stick figures for people.
What is your gender?
Most assuredly male.
How old are you?
26
May I talk to you?
Probably, I can't guarantee I'm the best random social partner, but given the right topic I open up fairly easily.
May I touch you?
Perhaps we should be friends first? Admittedly though, fursuitters are welcome to give me a hug, there's something much less awkward about it when you're in suit :P
May I hang out with you?
If you're my friend, sure, or if we become friends at the con.
How may I find you?
I'll likely be wandering around, looking for purple is good advice, although my backpack is sadly blue.
May I buy you drinks?
Sure, as long as they'll taste good. I haven't experimented much with drinks, but Long Island Iced Tea and Zombies will certainly be accepted with a thanks ;)
On a side note...seriously, why is this question on the meme?

Tails and pants
Posted 15 years agoI was thinking about this after looking at a picture where the guys shorts were below his tail.
Wouldn't his shorts be more likely to fall down? It seems like an awkward placement for your shorts...and wouldn't a belt be rather uncomfortable then?
The alternative I've seen is a tail hole in the pants. This seems like it would be a pain to get on and off, but they'd definitely stay up. Is that better though? Not sure.
What I really think would work best is to have a hole wide enough to fit the tail base, but above that to have a button that can be undone so instead of trying to slide your entire tail in, you just raise the pants up so the tail base slides in, then snap the button so they stay put. That would be best, right?

Some size adjustments will likely be necessary, but the end result looks like a werefox and werewolf pouncing at each other like they're about to fight to the death :D

A different, related, test. I'm an INFP, The Healer.
Posted 15 years agoINFP - the Healer
You are more introverted than extroverted. You are more intuitive than observant, you are more feeling based than thinking based, and you prefer to go with the flow rather than having a plan. Your type can best be summarized by the word "Healer", which belongs to the larger group of idealists. You have a capacity for caring that is deeper than most. You strive for unity, are fascinated by the battles between good and evil, and can be something of an idealist. Only 1% of the population shares your type.
As a romantic partner, you are usually supportive and nurturing, however, you have a high need for individuality. Harmony is extremely important to you as you are very affected by conflict and tension, which also makes you resist confronting your partner directly about problems. When you get angry, you usually blame yourself, rather than your partner. You can also be stubborn and unyielding when you feel you are being criticized or mistreated. You feel the most appreciated when your partner listens to you carefully. You need to be understood. You need to hear your partner express their feelings, the more often, the better.

I'm a perfectionist? (We're number 1!) Well...uh...sorta?
Posted 15 years ago1- the Perfectionist
you chose CZ - your Enneagram type is ONE (aka "The Reformer").
"I do everything the right way"
Perfectionists are realistic, conscientious, and principled.
They strive to live up to their high ideals.
How to Get Along with Me
• Take your share of the responsibility so I don't end up with all the work.
• Acknowledge my achievements.
• I'm hard on myself. Reassure me that I'm fine the way I am.
• Tell me that you value my advice.
• Be fair and considerate, as I am.
• Apologize if you have been unthoughtful. It will help me to forgive.
• Gently encourage me to lighten up and to laugh at myself when I get uptight, but hear my worries first.
What I Like About Being a ONE
• being self-disciplined and able to accomplish a great deal (did the ADHD ruin this? LOL)
• working hard to make the world a better place (*snorts* Now that's just silly)
• having high standards and ethics; not compromising myself
• being reasonable, responsible, and dedicated in everything I do
• being able to put facts together, coming to good understandings, and figuring out wise solutions
• being the best I can be and bringing out the best in other people
What's Hard About Being a ONE
• being disappointed with myself or others when my expectations are not met
• feeling burdened by too much responsibility
• thinking that what I do is never good enough
• not being appreciated for what I do for people
• being upset because others aren't trying as hard as I am
• obsessing about what I did or what I should do
• being tense, anxious, and taking things too seriously
ONEs as Children Often
• criticize themselves in anticipation of criticism from others
• refrain from doing things that they think might not come out perfect
• focus on living up to the expectations of their parents and teachers
• are very responsible; may assume the role of parent
• hold back negative emotions ("good children aren't angry")
ONEs as Parents
• teach their children responsibility and strong moral values
• are consistent and fair
• discipline firmly

Con Cap
Posted 15 years agoWell, FCN was rather different. It's so much smaller! I think I spent a majority of my time either in the room drinking with my roommates or in the game room playing Dominion. Had plenty of fun...but I'm not entirely sure I'd go again. I'd say it will entirely depend on how my funds are next year, I'd rather not be so worried about running out of money the whole time. Who knows what next year will be like, so I won't count it out!

Where are you staying?
-Not sure yet, could be anywhere from the main hotel to a car (I'm kidding Blaze, I'm kidding!)
Who will you be with?
I dunno, but I'll be arriving in the car of
alkalibismuth
Do you do trades?
What, like "show me yours, I'll show you mine" or something? I'm sure it meant art trades...but seriously so many non-artists answer these things.
What suits will you have?
None, unless somehow I get to borrow one. Fursuitting is kinda neat.
Do you talk in suit?
Would if I was in one, although last time all I really said was "I can't see!"
What is your gender?
Male, most certainly male.
How old are you?
-26
Can I touch you?
Touch? Yeah, sure...I do hope you've at least introduced yourself before attempting that though.
Can I talk to you?
As long as I don't have headphones on. If I do that means I'm not looking for conversation.
Can I buy you lots of drinks?
*snorts* I've heard this is one of the main things about FCN (the drinking). I'll accept any drink that doesn't taste terrible...unfortunately a lot of them do.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
If you know me, yeah. I'm quite the cuddleslut to be honest.
How tall are you?
5'9''
You look pissed off out of suit. Can I come up to you?
Definitely not. If by some rare occurrence I'm pissed off, I would highly suggest staying clear, unless you're one of my closer friends. I could honestly use a hug at this point, but anyone that I even might snap at is going to find themselves with metaphorical teeth at their throat.
Are you cliquey?
I wander from clique to clique, but I don't think I'm stuck in 1 in specific, no.
Can I stalk you?
Umm, a non-issue I'm sure. Nobody is going to want to stalk me.
How long are you going?
Thursday afternoon to ...uh...I seriously had to go ask my ride right now to answer this. We're heading back home in the evening Sunday.
Do you have an artist table?
Hell no. I may find myself at one getting a commission...although that also is unlikely.
Do you like parties?
Of course I like parties! Now if I can just manage to find my way to one (or some)...
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Are we friends who have met in real life? If yes, feel free to surprise me with a hug from behind, I'll be startled, but happy when I turn around. If not, or if you don't feel like hugging for some reason, see next question.
Am I wearing headphones? If yes, you're going to have to be direct and wave hands within my eyesight or something to that effect. No? Calling Drake or Konran is a good way to get me suddenly looking around for who is calling my name. Just please be aware that my hearing isn't the best.

FCN ...help?
Posted 15 years agoSo FCN is now barely over a month away, and all my plans for a room so far appear to be falling through. Anyone out there with spare space? I'd really prefer a bed to sleep on, but I don't mind sharing it. I believe I'll be there Friday and Saturday nights.
So I got bored...

I don't really expect anyone to ask me anything, but I figured I'd throw it out there. Also my last journal was getting kinda ripe >_>
