trains were so fucked up today down at mine due to heavy flooding (destroyed some roads, trains weren't running, peoples houses flooded, ect. we pretty much never get flooding so it's a big issue that's its happened i think.)
ConFuzzled was lots of fun! It was really great to see friends I haven't seen since last year pretty much. And it was super nice to make new friends too! I got to hang with a bunch of new people and had some neat conversations and good times. Pretty much everyone was super lovely!
Was feeling pretty under the weather most days cause for some reason the alcohol hit me a LOT harder than it ever has before (i had three drinks one night and spent 2 days recovering after? wtf body?)
Definitely need to try and register sooner next year because I really don't want to be in overflow again. While the rooms were nice overall (nicer than Hilton imo) the mattress was basically a block of wood (my back is crying) and trekking around the lake at least twice a day is annoying. plus the whole not getting the same hotel perks despite paying the same price lol. i missed out on a few things i wanted to do merely because of the walk if i needed to go get something.
Next year I'll have my shit together asap!

UPDATE: Situation with Dad's Cancer
Posted 7 years agoFor anyone interested, here's an update (in my sisters words) on what's going on in regards to my Dad's cancer and our living situation, which has resulted in the gofundme being paused since certain information has become more clear and Dad's wishes have changed.

I wanted to update when I knew more, medically. Dad's consultants had a meeting wednesday (25th April 2018) about his health and care etc. When they spoke to him they did tell him the name of the cancer but he said he couldn't take all the information in - I think they should have let us know what time they were seeing dad so someone could be with him. Hearing news when it's about you, like this, can be hard to take in and then you're left without knowing much because your brain shut down a bit.
Here's what I do know, though, and it will involve a change of plans.
Dad's cancer did indeed start in his lungs, as we know it spread to his spine and compressed his chord enough to completely paralyse him for the waist down. His surgery at Kings College removed the spinal tumor completely and he's slowly getting movement and sensation back. He can make it up a step and to and from the bathroom in his room. He can walk a small way with the zimmer frame.
New info is that he apparently has some cancer in / around his liver and kidneys and also adrenal glands. He's looking at having palliative care.
We don't know prognosis or treatments yet. They are looking to get him home and comfortable in his flat. His OT has been today and installed bed rails, a couple of different types of specialist chairs and a toilet attachment to make it all higher up and safer.
We've all had long talks and he's decided he'd like to remain where he is for the time he has left, somewhere familiar and without going through everything stressful that comes with moving. I want him to be his most comfortable so my brother and I are going to do or best to support him there.
I'm going to pause this (gofundme) if I can, as the move will no longer be happening until my father passes away and my brother needs to move in with me. Every donation has meant so much to us and it's been incredibly touching to see just how wonderful and kind people can be, even to complete strangers.
Obviously if anyone wishes for a refund we will do so since it was initially for a move. However there's still a lot of costs that come with the cancer, and this includes fuel and running costs for getting to and from his house every day so that I can help out, fuel and parking costs for hospital and treatment visits etc
Dad will also have to buy some of his own aides, and anything else to make him more comfortable. It would be a great help if we could use this money for those things, his payments from dwp have also been stopped right now (he was doing voluntary work) so it'd help with that until we can get matters sorted with the finance side of things too.
He's still feeling positive, looking forward to going home and being around his own things. The Macmillan Lawrence ward at medway hospital has been amazing for him so far and I can't thank them enough either. We are taking things one step at a time and slowly figuring out how to deal with this and what to do. I will continue to update for anyone who wishes to hear about what's going on.
From my own end, I'll obviously be working as hard as I can to take and complete as many commissions as I can to help my Dad as much as I can and to save for moving when it comes to that. Because I will have to move regardless once Dad is gone. And living with my sister is the most preferable/comfortable situation. (As for how I'm personally doing emotionally? I'm a hot mess and probably need some kinda therapy even before all this lmao. Kind words are appreciated though unfortunately nothing feels comforting. Nothing can change the facts. But I'm not the one with cancer.)
My art is my only source of income.
(My income is usually between £5000 to £6000 a year, which is... not much considering minimum wage in England is around £15000 a year for full time work. sadly there are literally no jobs around the area I live)

GOFUNDME: Dad has cancer, need to move to take care of him

As some of you might have seen form a previous journal of mine, We recently found out dad has lung and spine cancer. My sister has made a gofundme to help us raise money so that me, her and him can move into a house together with him and care for him better than we’d be able to in our current situation.
Currently I live with my dad but would struggle to provide all the assistance and care he'd need on my own. And my sister lives a good 20-30 minute drive away and is a carer for her autistic son, as well has having a daughter. I can't drive, my dad may no longer be able to drive, and with my sister living that far and having kids, relying on her to drive for us if needed would be a problem.
You can read more about the situation on the gofundme page. But basically, we can afford rent monthly, but we'll really struggle (to the point of it being near impossible) to find the upfront costs of moving (deposit, hiring movers, ect) on our own.
We’re all doing what we can to make things easier on him as while the spinal surgery restored movement to his legs, he still can't really feel them and he's going to need a lot more help in the future as it's not looking like they'll be able to get rid of the cancer.

Been considering doing refs for a while. I'm not particularly fond of doing them since they frustrate me but at the same time I get asked about them often enough that I might as well if people want it?
There would likely be two options, basic ref and full ref
In terms of things shown,

(front view, partial back view, palette, text info of name, species, ect)
Full would look more like this: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/25182460/
(front view, back view, additional back view if hair is in the way,+ the option of additional things like side view, expressions, ect. though some things would cost more)

Sketch Price Changes from 18th Sept
Posted 8 years agoI'm going to be putting my sketch prices up from the 18th September.
I'll be separating sketch types into 'Quick Sketch' and 'Refined Sketch' with quick sketch being the same price as my sketches now, and refined sketch being £10 more.
The background prices for quick sketch will be reduced and the current background prices for sketches will apply to refined sketches.

Anthro Movie/Anime Recs
Posted 8 years agoSince I saw a post asking for suggestions on FB I thought I'd also share some here and my opinion of them! Feel free to add your own or give your opinion of any of them in the comments!
I'm keeping away from Human characters who have animal ears and tail maybe claws but otherwise look Human, and Ghibli/Disney stuff cause everyone knows Ghibli/Disney, and not mentioning CG just. just 2D animation. And including animals that talk (though may not be understood by humans) and humans who turn into and spend a significant time as animals.
Anime
- Gingitsune from what i remember was very good. Though I cant remember much. Slice of life anime.
- Both Ginga Nagareboshi Gin and Ginga Densetsu Weed are decent. I havent watched all of GNG. Though the opening is my jam love me that 80's anime song vibe
- The Life of Guskou Budori is a VERY good movie. Lovely style and super good story!
- Night on the Galactic Railroad is in the same style (actually came before Life of Guskou, it's another 80's thing based on a 1930's book) and pretty good though a little confusing (at least to me) kinda feels like you need to be high to understand half of it.
- Jungle Taitei (called Kimba the White Lion/Leo the Lion in america I think) another 80's anime/movies (though there was a 2009 movie) more aimed at kids but very cute!
- Chirin no Suzu (Ringing Bell) Is a sanrio (aimed at kids?) movie another 80's one, VERY good imo though a lil creepy in places considering it's target audience.
- Arashi no Yoru Ni (One Stormy Night) (the animated one not the CG one) is another kids movie but VERY sweet. I adore it.
- Wolf's Rain who ain't seen this by now it's practically a must. One of my favourites.
- Wolf Children so beautiful and heartbreaking movie. I adored this one and it damn near made me cry.
- Bakemono no Ko (the Boy and the Beast) this was a REALLY good movie. has a really good plot and momentum and really draws you in.
These I haven't seen but will probably watch soon-ish:
- Spring & Chaos inspired by the poet who wrote the original story for Night on the Galactic Railroad
- Buta
- Shirokuma Cafe
Non-Anime
Lets get some of these outta the way lol, Most of these are just talking animal characters because outside of Disney/Anime I haven't seen ANY more humanoid anthro characters.
- Balto still holds up fairly well these days.
- Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron this was one of my favs a kid (I had a lot of favs as a kid lol)
- The Last Unicorn I LOVE this movie so much. It's so charming.
- Watership Down Every Brit kid watched this and all of us were scarred by it LMFAO
- The Plague Dogs This movie is BEAUTIFUL though can be very disturbing and is very sad. It's by the same author who write the Watership Down book and made by the same animation studio.
- Animals of Farthing Wood I watched this to DEATH as a kid. I loved it. Rewatching it now it doesn't hold up too well and some characters get on my nerves but it's a fond memory
- The Secret of NIHM I LOVED THIS MOVIE SO MUCH. I used to watch it on repeat as a kid.
- Felidae This is such a weird fucking movie but really good.
Ok I lied about mentioning Disney films I HAVE to add Oliver and Company because it's my FAVE and so under loved compared to all the others.
