Employed. FINALLY!
Posted 15 years agoSo after approximately 5 months of unemployment I have picked up another animation gig!
The industry was really shit for a while there, but it seems to be picking up now. Lucky for me!
I showed up for what I thought was an interview, and instead they introduced me around, plopped me in front of a workstation, gave me login info, and gave me some scenes to animate! One of the supervisors told me they saw my reel, and they all thought I was awesome and decided to hire me right then. Plus, I apparently came recommended by a few people who already work there or have in the past.
Feels good man!
I can't talk about the project yet(for you curious types), but the SECOND I get info on the premiere episode of the show, I will make a huge awesome journal all about it! All I can say is it looks awesome, and it's going to be huge.... and on a major TV network.
In less happy news, my landlords(who like me and my fiancé) are kicking us out in 2 months so their family can stay over. I was pretty panicky about it when I didn't even have a job, since moving is EXPENSIVE...... but now that I have a job it's dulled to a tingly sort of raw worry. Finding an apartment in this city is rough, especially for a young slightly alternative goth/metal looking couple with 3 cats. So, we'll just see how that goes.
But, man, do I ever NOT want to move in with my in-laws in the suburbs. :P

I am also a professional animator, and if you want something animated, please feel free to discuss it with me. There are no solid prices to this, but it will probably veer into 3 digits, depending on the complexity of the character builds.
Also, If you want a full flash build of your character for YOU to animate, I provide that instead, at a lower cost

So I have been going through the site checking out their neat bat articles.

Bat evolution really IS fascinating! I'm all about bats right now!

After all this research I found out about the oldest found bat: Onychonycteris finneyi
It had a LONG TAIL! I have been unhappy with Neryssa's fluffy little tail, since I also don't like the hairless little hamsterlike tails bats actually have. I couldn't in good conscience give my bat butt a long tail with no real basis for it.
So 'Ryssa isn't a brown/vampire/fruit bat... she's a Onychonycteris finneyi. A "Clawed Bat".
It works well, since I do also have an OC that is an archaeopteryx. Funny, I seem drawn to intermediate fossils. ;)

Me and my guy are actually having over a friend whose wife was deported YESTERDAY because of legal red tape.
So his first Valentine's Day with his wife is a bust and he's waiting for it all to be cleared up. It's still really frustrating for him, and it WILL be fixed, but it doesn't give them this day back.
So our romantic dinner will be a supporting our friend dinner instead!!!!!
We'll do the fancy dinner stuff tmo. :)

Description
This is a decidedly nonconformist creature, for as an airborne personality, the bat tends to look down at the conventions of the ground animals. And yet, since it is not a true bird and having not mastered the art of smooth controlled flight, it often appears awkward in social situations. (Hence the term -- acting batty). But as compensation for this social ungainliness, many bat personalities sport a built-in radar, which enables them to intuitively read the motivations of others.
Identifying bat personalities is not difficult. Being nocturnal creatures, they come alive at night and can be spotted in underground clubs or dimly lit bars. They prefer the sanctuary of dark clothing and dark corners, and you'll never see a bat sporting a heavy tan. Bats have a habit of flitting in and out of social situations, swooping down to interact briefly with others before quickly flying off to resume their bat lives. Unassertive and aloof, they'll take flight at the first hint of a confrontation to seek comfort in their personal spaces that are decorated in unusual but expressive ways. The bat's sixth sense gives it a number of advantages in its work, and its insightful nature enables it to understand others better than it understands itself.
In the romance department, bats are enamored with the idea of love more than they are with its colder realities. Decidedly untraditional, they are prone to flights of extraordinary fantasy -- and it's not the traditional Ken and Barbie type of romance that tickles its fancy either. It's the Bram Stoker kind: dark, moody and gothic.
Bat personalities have an enormous sense of loyalty and if you ever do a favor for a bat, it will never relax until it has paid you back. In fact, in nature, the bat is the only animal (other than man) to demonstrate true altruism when unrelated individuals will unselfishly offer food to a cave-mate without expectation anything in return. This powerful sense of quid pro quo is one of the defining characteristics of the bat personality and anyone should consider themselves lucky to be in a bat's good graces.
Bats have no strong yearning for parenthood, for the kind of ego gratification that comes with having one's own children doesn't appeal to its karmic temperament. They are instead quite content to satisfy their maternal or paternal instincts by adopting or merely baby-sitting. Pretty much. Same natural hair colour, eye color, slim, pink streaks in hair..... yep. Except that I'm a human, and she's a bat.

Um, she doesn't tend to wear much. Just fur. I do enjoy sitting about the house nude, so I suppose we do. I plan on giving her some goth style outfits, since they're so fun to draw, and that's my fashion I wear mostly. I think she'll be more 'lolita' than 'industrial'.

She's never met another bat, but I have reason to believe that she'd like boybats AND girlbats just as much as I like boys AND girls. I suppose she'll cross that bridge when she comes to it.

It's pretty much similar already... When I dye ALL of my hair pink, I haven't decided what will happen to her hair. All pink hair tuft? Completely pink bat?

No. I hadn't even decided on whether I wanted an otter or a bat, so I sat down to sketch and Neryssa was just....'the one'.
All I know is that she hasn't met any other bats. She was raised by otters after she was abandoned by her mom. She can swim fairly well as a result, and the otter family who raised her treated her no differently than their own children. She loves to fly, however, and revels in the freedom of going where her family cannot follow.

It's pretty much similar already... When I dye ALL of my hair pink, I haven't decided what will happen to her hair. All pink hair tuft? Completely pink bat?
5 – Did you work hard to develop your fursona? What is the (brief) history of your fursona?
No. I hadn't even decided on whether I wanted an otter or a bat, so I sat down to sketch and Neryssa was just....'the one'.
All I know is that she hasn't met any other bats. She was raised by otters after she was abandoned by her mom. She can swim fairly well as a result, and the otter family who raised her treated her no differently than their own children. She loves to fly, however, and revels in the freedom of going where her family cannot follow.

No, she is single.
7 – Do you find yourself jealous or upset if you get paired with someone you don’t like or your partner does?
Uhhhhhh, what?
8 – How would you like your character not to be used?
Uhhh, anything like vore, inflation, fat, gore.... but noone can really stop anyone else from doing so. I'd probably just be grossed out, then amused, then grossed out again.
