Orangy: 2018, Refunds, My Future
Posted 7 years agoWell. Let's just say 2017 was a dumpster fire for me. Not because anything awful happened but it a constant battle with my own depression, a lack of creativity, and a total lack of motivation to do artwork. Somewhere early on, I lost my ability to be happy and no matter how i tried, I couldn't recover it.
Sadly, when it comes to artwork, I don't think 2018 will be any better. 2017 was the year of "do I really want to keep doing this?" I stressed, I tried to do artwork, I tried to continue on and go to school and try to have some semblance of a healthy life.
I failed at 2 of those 3 objectives. I did finish school. I just need to contact them to send me my diploma for my Associates Degree. Yay.
I got tired and it showed. I couldn't focus on artwork at all. Every time I opened a file, I could only describe the feeling as my will to keep going just sort of left me. I didn't even open FA because I... just didn't care about the whole FA thing and seeing other artwork and talking to friends? Oh, I cared about my commissioners but I didn't know what to say and I didn't have the resources to enact any sort of plan. I also didn't want to make promises to finish work when I knew it wasn't going to happen.
I lost some creative spark I had and doing artwork just wasn't bringing it back. I felt lost and a bit hopeless about it.
SO: I'm refunding my list and closing it down until I want to come back. I still have my list and over the next week, I'll be sending money to paypal and refunding everyone. I won't be opening slots for a long time. I might not even do artwork.
And lemme tell you, you won't see me here on FA until at least April. It might be longer. Who knows?
What changed for me? Remember how I told you I wrote a book? It did something for me, it made me feel creative again and finally, I got to tell my own stories instead of day in and day out furry porn. So, I created a pen name and wrote another. And another. And another. My pen name has 2 books out, and one on preorder. Two of them are for a trilogy and one of them is the kick off to a 5 book saga. And I'm fucking happy again. And it's paying the bills? That's good right? I don't really care, but it's important to note. I just am so happy to be telling the stories I want to tell and they are being well received. My readers have really touched my heart and soul in ways I can't describe. Someone approached me to be my editor and my PA (holy shit I have a PA). She's a fucking sweetheart. I <3 her.
Remember when I said you won't see me back before April? Yeah, because that's the projected month of my trilogy finishing. After that, I'll be writing the entire 5 book saga. book one is done so after wrapping my trilogy, I'll be dedicating my time to that. I even have book plans for after that. It's just been a wild time for me. And in the last 2 months, I recovered a happiness I lost somewhere early in 2017.
Now, I need to go read notes and figure out how mad people are at me! <3

So I finally just let the creativity flow forth and I wrote a FUCKING NOVEL. I published it under an actual name.
It's just over a 100,000 words and is available as an ebook from amazon's direct publishing on kindle and their supported platforms. It will also be a series, lasting four to five books and then I might indulge in some smaller spin offs from it.

Valkyries are gifted with the sange furie, a blood rage that makes them exceptional in combat but also leaves them with vicious tempers and a blood lust they must fulfill. Like only a rare few, she's destined for life in the mountains, protecting Mon' Avium and its people. Health Issue vs Art
Posted 8 years agoALRIGHT! So I held back a couple days from making this journal in hopes it would clear up but:
I can't work since I can't sit down. If this information is enough, stop reading now, I'm about to TMI to help explain.
TMI WARNING
I have a hemorrhoid problem right now. It happens when work causes you to sit a lot and there's a lot of things that can cause them. It sounds gross but it's just a fact of life that these things happen. Straight up, they don't bother me to hear about as much as vomiting bothers me. Thank god I'm not puking. It's more of a painful inconvenience that pisses me off because it makes doing anything at my computer a pain in the literal ass.
I can't work since I can't sit down. If this information is enough, stop reading now, I'm about to TMI to help explain.

Posted 8 years agoI am a little behind this week! No worries though, I've just been a little under the weather on and off for a week or so and it's been slowing me down but nothing serious.
I also got some home stuff going on, also, no worries, everything is fine :)
Edit: I decided that maybe rearranging my entire workspace would help with some of my lack of motivation. A bit of a change to scenery and such. Only took 7 hours

The entire full color queue has been either finished(for the smaller single character ones since I could do them in 3 hours or less) or refunded! that means it's me, the flats/simple shaded work, and my own personal art! Is this the end of full color ever? No, but I'm going to keep the work personal for a little while, because I want to dedicate that time to me.
Flats slots are always open. Here's how they work!
I'm reserving 3 slots every day Tuesday-Friday. If you ask for a slot on Monday, it will land on Tuesday unless Tuesday is already full, then it is immediately on Wednesday(or whatever day has slots). You don't claim days, because I don't stream, so this is purely my way of saying "This is when I'll send you the image". I'll never let the full days go out farther then 1 week and if that happens regularly, then I'll bump up to 4 slots a day.
THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO COMMISSION ME.
So if you want art, ask ANY TIME and I will let you know what day your slot will land on. But please, send me all the required information. Slots are only officially your's once payment goes through. Which means I need to be able to give a price quote. Which means you need to send me the type of image, the character/s, and the image idea up front.

Commissions: I've got 1 to color right now and 6 I need to sketch. I am planning on refund a couple of these at least. Why? Because shit, I don't have the energy to do full colors right now. I'm hating how my full colors turn out. Just ugh. So through July, people will be getting messages with either a WIP sketch of a refund notification. None of these full colors will survive the month.

Update/Return/New Job/Commissions/School
Posted 8 years agoSo, I have class until June 15th! June 15th is the last thing I do this quarter and it's presenting my DEGREE PROJECT! :O Yeah THAT'S why I've been so busy, I've been doing the VERY large graphic design project that will decide if the department let's me get the degree or not! OMG! It should be turned in by Thursday just because I'll be done and then I'll begin working on art!
BUT In terms of commissions, I have some important news. I'm getting a job. Actually, I've already been interviewed and been accepted but my orientation isn't for at least another week. This means my current commission list is the last big batch of commissions I do here on FA fur a long time. Why did I get a job? Exhaustion with commission work. That's the truth. It's not consistent and it's tiring and stresses me out at home, where I want to relax. This isn't ya'lls fault, it's my anxiety causing me to only ever see 'work' when I sit down in any free time I can find. I'm tired of my personal space being like an anxiety machine. Now, I'm getting an overnight position, so my schedule will be a bit fuckin wonky. Once my commission list is finished, it's just my webcomic and personal art. That's all I want to do right now.
I can't promise my list will all be done in June or that I'll work as fast as I used too. But I will be chuggin along and maybe even refunding a few that I feel I might need to cancel.
Finally- I only have 1 quarter left to finish college. I thought about doing it over the summer but I decided to push my last quarter to fall. It had the 2 classes I needed at times I wanted. So, almost done on that front.

I'll be getting back to commissions slowly later in this week! This school quarter ends June 8th so I only got like a month left and I'm already fucking terribly behind. But ya know, I just gotta drag myself out.
I've also been battling a really low point in my depression recently. I'm not saying it's why I have been missing, just a contributing factor. A lot of things have been really getting to me, especially since I've only got a couple quarters left before I'm out in the world with a degree. Busy Week
Posted 8 years agoSo, I'm trying to get my schedule settled between work and school, such as which days I can work, which days I need to be focused on school. As it stands, I will only be working on Saturdays, and maybe Sundays(but not this Sunday, family is coming in from out of state). I would work Friday but I need to take 1 day off a week or ya'll will lose me for several months from exhaustion and we don't want that.
It might take a couple weeks but do know that this Saturday I'll be inking/coloring the sketches approved(there are 2 of them) and sketching 2-3 for the next weekend. It's slower progress then I want but it's progress right?

I've been digging doing commissions while school's out!
I've got a really hard(?) quarter coming up as I finish the graphic design classes. I've only got a couple core classes to finish after that then I'm done. A communications course and maybe an English class.
I started working out and dieting earlier this month! Fell a little off the horse while playing Mass Effect but I've lost 6 pounds since I started, I'm very proud of myself :) I'm trying to get back to my pre-Navy weight. I won't tell you what that weight is or what I am right now but it's going to be a journey. I want to get healthy again and I'm happy to be working on it.
And I'm only $500 shy of being able to pay my taxes! Hence why I am working so hard! It's so close, I can taste it. If you want to help on that front, you can grab my last 2 full color slots until later this year or grab one of my YCHs open right now! Or buy something from my digital store or inkedfur. Or just throw me your energy because I need it XD To let you know, I owe $1600-ish so I started saving in February. School and life slowed me down more then I wanted but I should hopefully be able to pull it out.

Posted 8 years agoSo, I was going to work this work and play Mass Effect on the weekend, but then I got 32 hours into the game and welp, I guess I shall work over the weekend! Don't work about what my queue schedule says about what day work will be done, I'm just shifting it by day as Mass Effect keeps me drawn in and I can't get away.
I was a huge fan of the original trilogy, irregardless of ME3's end so Andromeda was a big deal for me. I have LOVED it so far, even with some really minor problems so far. I've gotten a giggle out of some of the small problems.
Just wanted to let ya'll know where I've been. I'm going to explore more space now :)

Why finals? why?
Posted 8 years agoThey are all due on the same day, oh goodie! Today I got some things inked, but nothing colored, so I'll be doing finals all tomorrow and Sunday(maybe Monday if it's really bad). If I get done with everything on Sunday, then I'll try and get at least 2 things colored on Monday and then I'm free as of Thursday(16th) evening. Then you guys have me for like 2-3 weeks, probably more! :D

Posted 8 years agoSo I'm sketching all the things! Only 2-3 more weeks for this quarter but I gotta push through and work. got about 2/3rd of my taxes I still need to account for, oh goodie. Friday Flats will be coming back this upcoming week, so look forward to it and more YCH auctions. Hopefully i get everything on my list to approved sketch phase. But I gotta keep chuggin along, even if it's slow! :)
A little under the weather
Posted 8 years agoFor a few days I've been waking up completely congested and the exhaustion won't leave. I'm going to take this weekend off and recharge the batteries. Oh thank god I graduate from college this year hopefully lol
