Shinies, eh.
General | Posted 6 years agoKind of a dumb place to put that section to be honest, you have to scroll down between Favorites and Watched By to see it and it's kind of a nondescript off-center big ugly box with the way FA's user pages are set up with two columns? You gotta go down to see it, you gotta know where it already is or be looking for it to find it, it takes up a ton of space for what little is in it. I would've thought it'd be better to place it up higher, maybe smaller, more centered, a little Shinies! graphic to put there (or one you can make yourself) to make it more noticeable to the eye. The fact you can't see it on your own page is kind of annoying, too, you could've just disabled the button when it's your own page so you don't accidentally send yourself $5.
I dunno, there were like 30 Shinies journals today I saw and none of them criticized anything and I thought it was criticism-worthy.
But I did activate it if for some reason you want to send $5 instead of $3 via Ko-fi, but ultimately I'd actually prefer if you checked out and pledged to my Patreon instead, that'd help me out most of all, especially since it's under $35 per week again.

#FursuitFriday Charity Calendar
General | Posted 6 years agoLook at THIS: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/fursuitfriday-charity-calendar#/
Check THIS out: https://twitter.com/artworktee/status/1120749609419145219
Was asked by the organizers of this charity fundraiser to make a journal advertising it. It's a big ol' 18 month calendar featuring a ton of fursuiters. They're raising money for a place called Last Chance Corral, which is a place that helps abandoned horse children. Seems like a good cause you don't really ever hear about. And look at this baby horse from one of the photos on the IndieGogo: https://puu.sh/DjRid/90526c654d.jpg I dunno what expression this is but it's a pretty good one.
So yeah if you're into this kind of furry stuff, check it out, why not! Charity's always cool and you get some neat things.

Still 5 commission slots open!
General | Posted 7 years agoHeeey pretty good initial response, but there are still 5 slots open, if you were worried I closed up fast (I didn't :B).
Again, check out this submission for details.

Hey the commissions are open woah
General | Posted 7 years agoBy "next week" I guess I actually meant "next week plus two days".
But yes, I'm actually officially open wooooah. Go to this submission to see how to get a commission. I haven't done this in quite a long time, but I'm hoping to make it way more of a regular thing out of necessity due to diminishing funds and mounting debts. Things might go slow and rough for a while as I get into the swing of making this a normal regular occurrence, so bear with me.
And if you can't afford the mildly steeper than I've asked for before prices but still want to support me, well, there's always the Furthia High patreon. :B

Gonna open up for commissions next week (for real this time)
General | Posted 7 years agoYup, for real this time, I'm going to open up for commissions next week. I'm not 100% concrete on it, but it's likely to be 5-10 slots for full-scale drawings of some sort, at least flat color but probably cel-shading, with prices being probably around $50 per character? With some additional stuff for backgrounds or other stuff, maybe some minor discounts for characters I own/draw all the time, that kind of stuff.
Not very descriptive or definite but an actual announcement will have stuff figured out I'm sure. This is more to say "hey if you've been wanting a drawing from me, I'm gonna start doing those definitely soon" ahead of time and what more or less to expect. This will also likely become a much more recurring thing, if I can make this first batch go well. So yeah!

New Furthia High page up, temporarily black and white.
General | Posted 7 years agoYeah so instead of just letting it languish further not being up, I put the latest FH page up on the site ( http://www.furthiahigh.com/ ) in black and white temporarily as I continue to work on finalizing it with colors and shading and such. Doing this as a journal instead of a submission for this one, will update as per normal when the colorized final version is done. Thanks!
Birthdaaaaay.
General | Posted 7 years agoObligatory birthday journal, which I've done for the past whatever years I guess. It's the big three-zero 30th one. Goodbye, 20s.
I guess for a change I'll mention I put up Steam and Amazon wishlists a while ago on my Profile header thing, along with a Ko-Fi and obviously the Patreon. If for some reason you wanted to spend money on my for some ungodly reason, they're there, but you know, I don't expect anything from anybody except maybe a birthday wish if you want. :V
Speaking of Patreon I wanna thank the people who all chipped in after my scare a few days ago. The one patron managed to get their stuff fixed but like I said before, having more patrons at much smaller amounts to help compensate in case that kind of thing happens again was optimal. In any case, yeah, thank you to everyone who's helping out and has been helping out, and the thing could always use more patrons no matter the amount to help buffer it further.

Need to advertise Patreon again, please consider pledging.
General | Posted 7 years agohttps://www.patreon.com/furthiahigh
Well, due to two high-paying Patrons being Declined for two different reasons (one just vanished and hasn't responded to any contact attempts in 2 months, the other is ??? about their inconsistent money situation), the Patreon for Furthia High has dipped under $50 per week. This puts it both underneath the $50 'goal' set that is supposed to guarantee I update Furthia High every two weeks, as well as just puts it down as low as it's ever been in years.
One of those high-paying Patrons maaay be able to recover their situation and fix it, I have no idea, it took them over a month to get it resolved the last time they were declined and it only "fixed" things for a month apparently, and I have no clue where the other one went. Regardless, even if the first Patron does fix their situation, I'm really not fond of the fact that a third of the monthly income is apparently constantly on a knife's edge and could just vanish abruptly at the end of any potential month.
So I guess the point of this is A) if you're currently a Patron, if you'd consider raising your pledge by any amount, that'd be incredibly appreciated from you guys, and B) if you're not currently a Patron and are a fan of me/FH/whatever, if you'd consider pledging to the Patreon, or advertising it to others who might be interested? Even $1 a week would be incredibly appreciated, especially to just in general bolster the amount of patrons and spread of the weekly/monthly pledges. It feels kind of shitty to have to ask this stuff, but, well, when you're in potential trouble it's better to swallow pride then keep it locked up until it's too late.
Pledging to the FH patreon gets you the bonus of seeing the comic before anybody else (even if it's late), as well as getting the written scripts of future comic pages well in advance (you can actually right now read up to the end of the current arc with Bruce if you wanted, as well as hints on what the next arc is about) and extra trivia and tidbits about the planning and production of the comic, like inspirations, comic progress, insight into designs and writing, etc. There's some extra stuff for Rewards, but those are mostly up to you if you'd like them or not, like $25/week gets a character of your choosing into FH as a cameo/bg character at some point, even if you ever stop pledging that amount at any point after doing it at least a month.
Anyway, yeah, I suppose if this situation doesn't remedy itself, and ideally in a more secure way, then I might have to open for commissions of some sort and sacrifice the comic to some degree until the Patreon's numbers increase to a more "safe" level. Do what you have to, I guess. Hopefully things can get resolved in some way or another. And a big thanks to all my current paying Patrons who've stuck around for so long and helping out.
Also, uh... birthday's on Saturday. Was going to mention it today actually in a happier journal but uh, shit happens. :/

Skippin old art uploads today, also FH update on Tuesday
General | Posted 7 years agoI haven't forgotten in either case. I just don't wanna write a bunch for the art-by-others uploads today, and FH progress has been so slow I might as well just wait until this Tuesday to upload properly. :B That's all, just felt like mentioning it I guess.
Uploading old art and art by others
General | Posted 7 years agoI think I'm gonna start uploading old art I've done and old art I've gotten from other people starting tomorrow. It's probably a lot by this point, going back a number of years, and I need to figure out if I want to upload the old FNAF and Undertale stuff I've done too and in what format considering the number of tiny little pictures there are.
To spare myself and others from having their feeds flooded with this old stuff, I'm just gonna do one picture I did and one picture someone else did per day. Also won't be doing this on any of my other galleries like DA, IB, Weasyl, etc. cause I didn't upload old art on there anyway from the moment I started those galleries, and they're mostly just backups anyway, so don't really need to go through the effort of starting that with them now.
Also uuuh obligatory Patreon plug here I suppose why not https://www.patreon.com/furthiahigh If you like FH or whatever and want to help support me making it, there you go. Kinda dipped down cause a high-tier patron is having money problems right now but it's not a big emergency like it was briefly last year. Always nice to have more $1 or something patrons to buffer things, though, if you're poor/strained like me and a lot of other people. Along with getting page updates first, you also get the scripts I write for each comic page well in advance. Some other benefits, but yeah, I dunno, it's there! Filling up space in this journal :B

Yo where those commissions at, also probably old art uploads
General | Posted 8 years agoSo remember when I said I was gonna open for commissions before September ended?
Eh, well, it turns out it wasn't necessary like I thought it would be when I said that. My financial situation went from okay enough to abruptly terrifying to abruptly safer within a few weeks, and right now I'm not hurting as much as I thought I was going to be. This is both due to some fuckery concerning Patreon this year that I got resolved, and also due to a bunch of Patrons both new and old being very generous and re-stabilizing things there, incredibly appreciative and thankful for them. (And if you'd like to become a patron yourself still, certainly wouldn't mind it, even if it's only $1, https://www.patreon.com/furthiahigh but it's not as necessary. Would like certain existing Patrons to be able to lower their pledges safely by compensating with new patrons, but don't feel obligated or anyhting)
In any case, since extra funds aren't as vital right now, I'm putting off opening for commissions to a TBD date, because I want/need to focus on Furthia High, both in finally finishing this current story arc and preparing for the next one. Not much time before the current arc ends, so time right now is dedicated to all that instead. Sorry to anybody who was looking forward to me opening, I would (in a more casual fashion) otherwise, but yeah, FH comes first.
ALSO, probably going to upload a bunch of older art, have been wanting to for a while. Have a bunch of art of my Pathfinder character I've only either posted on, like, Tumblr or to my pathfinder group that I'd like to share. Maybe also all the dumb little fanart stuff I did in the past couple of years for things like FNAF and Undertale, but need to figure out a way that doesn't just flood everyone's inboxes with millions of tiny doodles.

Commissions Soon and also Patreon
General | Posted 8 years agoHey, a journal not about my birthday, awesome.
So I had a bit of a financial scare at the end of August last week when two of my highest pledging patrons for the Patreon for Furthia High had to drop out at the same time due to their own financial problems, meaning my Patreon would have dropped to the lowest amount it would have since it properly started. Luckily after I mentioned this, my remaining patrons were extremely, extremely generous and upped their pledges in order to get the Patreon back up to a good place. However, I don't want these patrons to have to keep their higher pledges up if I can help it, so this is still something that needs to be pushed and done (just not as urgently as I would have needed to a week ago).
So! Firstly, if you enjoy Furthia High, please consider becoming a patron to it here: https://www.patreon.com/furthiahigh You'll get comic pages as they're finished before anyone else does, as well as bonuses like extra trivia and tidbits about the pages/comic and sketches and scripts of future pages! Even a $1 pledge is extremely appreciated from you, and like I said, the sooner I can more safely tell my existing patrons that their additional patronage during this sudden crisis can be be brought back down somewhat so everyone's comfortable financially, both me and patrons.
And secondly, just to get some extra money in case anything else happens in the future, I plan on doing the rare act of opening commissions at some point in the very near future, before the month is out ideally. Things aren't really set on prices, but I think I'll probably open for full-style stuff alongside maybe sketches and chibis for lower-cost stuff. I also need to find a balance and time juggling those and Furthia High, which will be difficult, but you do what you have to.
So yeah, I know the relaunch of FH hasn't really been advertised much since it started at the end of February this year, and the Patreon even less so, since I personally was comfortable at the level I was at, but things happen and you do what you need to. Also, don't feel obligated or anything to contribute! Do it cause you want to and can afford to, not just cause I asked or anything like that.
Anyway, details for the commissions and such will come eventually, keep an eye out on social media and art sites.

Birfday today
General | Posted 8 years agoMan I haven't updated this journal thing for almost a year. Which I notice is what I said in last year's birthday journal, too. Neat.
Anyway, 29 today, woo, the final 20-something birthday.

I have posted this type of journal so many times so I'm not really even gonna bother elaborating beyond these are other sites, get art posted on equally (like that matters lately) more or less, not leaving FA, FA is still main place, etc. etc.
I will say, though, there's one thing I do wanna talk about, and that's Furry Network.
I hate it.
I really, really do not like the UI at all. I don't like the way the notifications are sent and how they're separated and how big they are and how you clear them, I don't like the format and layout of the site, I don't like how general browsing is, I don't like the layout of userpages or galleries, I think it looks ugly and confusing and is clunky and I'm really not fond of it at all. I thought and still think Weasyl was a perfectly fine and good-looking alternative to FA and IB. But everyone's decided to hop on the FN train for some reason or another, so great.
Well whatever. The same thing will happen where most people will go to another site but come back because it's really hard to make money without FA, some will stay on whatever alternative niche site and I can just follow them there, whatever. Just wish FN wasn't terrible to me.

Happy Birthday, Me
General | Posted 9 years agoWow I hadn't made a new journal in almost a year.
Anyway it's my birthday, hurray, the ravages of age continue to creep upon me. Gifts of art or whatever are awesome but happy birthday wishes are just as good, too.

RIP Doug Winger
General | Posted 10 years agoI don't really talk about this kinda thing much, but obviously from my gallery, I like hyper and inflation stuff a lot. And so do a lot of other people. And I know that for most, if not all, those people, Doug Winger was a really big and early inspiration and source for content. He pioneered this stuff, he had tons of drawings starting from way back in the 90s into the current millennium, piles and piles of art that furries into these fetishes found and loved and took inspiration from to start their own paths into making their own weirdo porn.
And I mean, of course "Winger" became a meme joke for hyper dickgirls and one of those things you made fun of the fandom for, at least back in the day, not so much now... but still, whatever jokes you have made or can make on Doug's stuff, there's no denying that he had a huge impact on a lot of people's lives in some way. He's not my first and only inspiration for getting into this weird stuff, but he was a big one, as he was for a lot of people.
And unfortunately he's gone now. And so, I just felt like I should say that... I've always liked his stuff, weird as it is, and it definitely had an impact on me and a ton of other people, and even though he became a sort of staple for weirdness and maybe even grossness in the fandom for a long time, I still respect him and I will miss him.

Ads
General | Posted 10 years agoBet you wish for the days when the biggest ad controversies on FA were stuff like my dumb "Don't be such a prude" banner being a meme, huh?
Birthday today!
General | Posted 10 years agoI'm an old man at 27 now, weee. I remember the AIM chatrooms and the ICQ and the dial-up modem noises.
Also, unrelated, I didn't win the Ursa Major Award this year, which I entirely expected not to so it's not a bummer or anything. I mean, the likes of Slightly Damned and TwoKinds is one thing for competition, but there was no way any of us were going to beat what ended up winning, which was the MLP comic book series, so oh well! Thanks for any votes and nominations and stuff regardless.

Not going anywhere, all alternate sites get updated at the same time, overblown panic, etc. etc. I'm too old and sick and tired to care anymore beyond doing this for those who wanna jump ship. Funnily enough though I've only gotten one "leaving FA forever" journal out of like a billion "here's where I am for people who are leaving" journals.

Voting for FH to win a Ursa Major Award for 2014 is still open, you can look at my previous journal for in-depth instructions and stuff, too.

Voting for Ursa Major Awards 2014 Open
General | Posted 10 years agoSo, turns out FH actually got nominated again this year, which I honestly didn't really expect since it didn't get nominated last year. But hey, whatever, that's pretty cool that it rebounded, thanks to everyone who got it on the nominee list this year! Unfortunately neither of Immy's comics got nominated, which makes me sad because I think Black Dogs really deserved to be nominated for the first time this year, but oh well.
http://www.ursamajorawards.org/voting2014/
So voting is now open until April 15th. If you somehow don't know yet how to do it, you get a key through your email and then list the top 3 of your choosing for each category. Furthia High is under Graphic Story as it always is, so if you wanna go vote for it, that's where it is. You also don't need to vote in every category, nor need to vote for the maximum amount per category. And as I say every year, if you don't think FH deserves to win over the others in the category, by all means vote for them instead.

Ursa Major Awards 2014
General | Posted 11 years agoYeah, that time of year again, although some differences this year in my attitude this year I guess.
Firstly, huh, for the first time I think ever, Furthia High (and Ballerina Mafia) is actually on the Ursa Recommended Anthropomorphics List. That's the thing before the usual Awards where people email them specifically with all their recommended furry stuff for the year. So whoever it was that recommended me (and Immy) to be on that list for the first time, thanks for thinking of us! That's pretty neat.
Secondly, well, again, that time of year for nominations for Ursa Major Awards, and like last year I forgot they were happening 2 weeks after nominations opened. I will of course ask that you nominate Furthia High like I do every year, even though I care even less about potentially winning than I did last year, cause it's always nice to pop up in the nominations at least.
I will ALSO ask this year, though, that you definitely nominate Order of the Black Dogs by Immelmann. While 2014 was a pretty sucky year for FH I think, Black Dogs has been doing great, and I think it should start getting the limelight that Concession used to on the UMAs years ago. Also maybe nominate Ballerina Mafia, since it managed to pop up on the Recommend List and hey, why not.
http://www.ursamajorawards.org/nominations/ So yeah, like always, put in your email, get a voting key, put in your voting key, fill in all the spaces you want, put in Order of the Black Dogs and maybe Furthia High for the Graphic Story category, put in maybe Ballerina Mafia for the Comic Strip category, and submit it for the nominations. This is, again, nominations, not voting, that comes later.
Nominate, spread it around, etc. etc., nominations end on the 28th.

nikaro - Paid?Emergency Commissions NOW CLOSED, THANK YOU!
General | Posted 11 years agoHello, so, I'm opening up for emergency commissions. Today I kinda found out I'm down about $800 I THOUGHT I had, but it turns out, because my mom was in the hospital and recovering at home for a week and a half at the end of December/beginning of this month, she didn't get nearly as big a paycheck as she usually would for most of this month. Because she has a good amount of debts and bills to pay each month, the money to pay those came out of my account, and it's a ton lower than I thought it was, to the point that I gotta do this.
I'm opening up for some relatively quick commissions in order to sustain myself for the next two weeks until Patreon money is collected for January and things get more back-on-track finanicially in the house. So, here's how it'll go:
I'm opening up for 10 slots of full-style commissions, one character each, for $25 each. These will be lineart with color and cel-shading and maybe a very simple background, if not just a gradient or filler or something. I want to keep these simple so they can be done somewhat quickly, so I'd prefer non-complex poses and ideas and so forth where possible. I might consider combining two slots into one if you really desperately need a two-character commission, but again, I'd prefer simplicity. You can also feel free to get a character that you don't own (including my own) provided you have the permission of the owner. Also, of course, these can be adult and maybe even fetish-y if you want (again, simple, we can talk about it briefly).
So if you're interested you can comment here or Note me or e-mail me at quetzadrake[at]yahoo.com with the following little form and information:
Name/Site: (your username and the site you use it on)
Description: (what you want, i.e. your character, what their pose is, expression/emotion, words if you want dialogue, etc.)
Reference Image(s): (at least one reference of the character you want drawn)
I'm also going to do something I normally never do since this is mildly dire circumstances: I'm gonna ask you to pay up-front. Normally I never ask for your money until after the sketch phase, but since funds are going to go into my Paypal and it takes several days for it to transfer to my bank account, I should probably get this emergency funding into there as quick as possible.
So yeah, again, if you'd like a slot, give me some version of that form and comment here, email, Note, PM, send it however to me and I'll talk with you about it and hammer out details before asking you to send over payment. These will be done over the following week as quickly as possible.
Again, thanks!

Christmas Ornaments and Other Stuff at Me and Immy's Store!
General | Posted 11 years agohttp://www.concessioncomic.com/store/xmas.php
Reminder that
immelmann and I have had some Christmas products up for sale on our Store! These include Christmas ornaments, one of which is FH-related, which are nice and hand-made by Immy with glitter and a ribbon. There's also some to/from gift tags that I made!
These are limited edition only for this year, so if you don't buy them now, you may never get the chance again! Also make sure to buy them as soon as possible so that you can be sure you get them before Christmas happens.
It'd really mean a lot to us if you checked these out! Immy worked hard to make the ornaments and I definitely agonized over these silly designs for way too long (because after so long it takes a while to have new ideas ~_~ ). I think they're a really cute and neat idea, so if you find them interesting, by all means! :V

Furthia High Patreon Now Live! Please Consider Helping Out!
General | Posted 11 years agohttp://www.patreon.com/furthiahigh
Forgot to make a journal about it, but yeah, there's now a Patreon for Furthia High!
So as you may know, I've been really teetering on the side of "poor" and "broke" for a while now, which has caused some things, including the comic, to suffer at its expense. With the launching of this Patreon, though, I can hopefully finally give back for any generous and much-appreciated donations people send to me by giving them special bonuses, as well as working towards the milestone goals and improving the state of the comic.
So please, it'd really mean a ton to me if you'd check it out, see what all the reward tiers and milestone goals and so forth are about, and consider becoming a Patron; even a $1 commitment would help out! And if you can't spare any funds (even if you can, actually), I'd super-appreciate it if you spread the word about this thing opening up and that I'd appreciate any other fans and friends to also look at it and consider helping. It'd mean a whole lot to me and I'd be able to have a steady donation helping-me-out thing while also repaying people for their patronage, instead of me just taking money over and over which I've always been super-guilty about.
The PitchIn page that I've been swinging around for a year or so now is still up and will remain up for a while yet, and you're free to help me out there still if you so desire (and I'd super-appreciate that too), but my hope is that once the Patreon takes off more and I get more Patrons, I'll finally be able to close that thing down. So yeah, again, if you could check out this stuff, I'd be really, really grateful!
Thank you!
