And if you have been part of one, what have been your experiences? Are there off-FA sites that might be good for these, aside official auction sites?

One person actually wished that I’d do a comic about these characters, and well, there is a story of sorts behind them (somewhat underdeveloped one, though) so well, would people be interested on that?
My own main hangups with it are that those two aren’t “real” characters and they’re kinda enjoying “fanart” status (and I don’t draw 90% of the fanart I’d want to draw because I just don’t) and it would be sci-f-… syf—… scienc—… there would be mechanical things in it.

So um. Post a PM if you feel like you want me to share it with you (or if you're okay to putting your Skype in the open, comment here), if you’re someone I’m at least passingly familiar with (like you comment here occasionally or something) then I probably will share it but again no offense if I don’t because I’m just so bad at chatting in real time that I get intimidated really easily and I have a hard time working and chatting at the same time, so I try to keep the contact list so "close" that I don't feel scared to go online.

I'm requesting characters of "non-average" bodytype (quotes for obvious reasons since average can be subjective but I think you get what I mean)!
Animal, monster, humanoid, human characters are all fine, as long as they have a bodytype that's not the generic idealized bodytype.

So if your character is thin, tall, short, stout, chubby, obese, thick and muscular, tall and lanky etc etc, link a ref here!
If you're not sure whether you character fits, heck, post them anyway!

What do you hope to accomplish?!

I've been getting these comments quite a lot lately, and to art that's features a character I haven't designed (fanart/trade/etc). I really, REALLY do not understand the point of these comments mainly because:
1. I didn't design the character so I can't change it to be more original/different
2. Thus it's not a compliment or a critique (to me)
3. With trade/commissions I rarely have any personal investment or further interest on the design, so I can't see these comments to be a recommendation, like "oh you like this sort of characters, this reminds me of character X, maybe you'd like that too"
4. That's a pretty potentially volatile opening to try to get into small-talk since it tends to be a touchy subject with many artists and it's almost never worded carefully (so that it would sound like a compliment, which I assume most people mean it to be).

If you do mean it as a compliment, what do you see it to compliment (and why aren't you telling it to the owner of the character) and if you see it as a critique why tell it to the unrelated artist?
It's just boggles my mind because I can't see the reason behind these comments.
