Working on Commissions.. I Swear!
Posted 14 years agoI know I've been really slow with the like three commissions I owe. I am working on them. One is done the undersketch, just needs to be lined and colored, and another is half done the undersketch. I should have these finished before the end of the month, hopefully sooner.
I might take a few bust/chibi commissions if anyone is interested. They can be hammered out pretty quick after I finish these full body ones.

Things Not to Say to an Artist [EVERYONE READ]

To most of you, this list is going to come across as super bitchy and horrible, to the rest of you it’s going to be a prolonged moment of “Oh my god yes, I fucking hate that!”
1. Oh my god, did you draw that?
This is not an acceptable question to ask someone you see drawing, especially not if they are actively working on the project when you ask. Depending on how many times the person in question has previously been addressed this way, the answer you receive could range anywhere from a polite “yes,” to an extremely sarcastic “No, holy shit where the fuck did this sketchbook come from?”
I feel as though, on some underlying level, the popularity of the question “Did you draw that?” has sprung from the belief that to be an artist you have to be visibly strange. Artists are not unicorns. We’re not mythical beasts that only come out on the equinox once every century, cloaked in moon dust and carting gilded paintbrushes. Artists are everywhere, in every shape and size, at every skill level.
It’s lovely to be complimented on your work, but being faced with utter disbelief that you could create something isn’t high up on Dr. Feelgood’s recommendations for healthy living.
The next time you see an artist working in public and you’re blown away by what they’re doing, try to come up with something to say other than “Did you draw that?”
2. Brb giving up art forever/burning everything I’ve ever drawn/killing myself.
This is something that many of my fellow artists are guilty of. No matter what you think, this is not an acceptable form of flattery. On the occasion that this happens to me I actually feel really horrible about it. No artist wants to hear that they’ve discouraged another person by doing what they love.
It’s really quite heartbreaking to see someone say that they aren’t proud of their abilities. There is always going to be someone out there who’s better than you. If you let that affect you in any way it should be as encouragement and incentive to practice, not a reason to give up.
Everyone who enjoys creating something, who finds an outlet with a pen or a tablet or words or scissors or a brush, can call themselves artists. There is no limit on creativity or its outlets and nothing qualifies who gets to create.
3. No one is this talented.
Well, obviously, some people are. You’re not complimenting them by saying they can’t possibly have made something that they clearly poured time and talent into. I know graphic artists who deal in realism that get this one a lot. It’s insulting and degrading and don’t fucking say it. Yeah?
4. Can you draw me/this/that other thing for me?
If someone has a talent or skill they choose to share with you, that does not mean you own a piece of them. That does not mean they have an obligation to provide something for you. They create because they enjoy it, because it keeps them alive in some way. Not for your entertainment.
Most of the time when people ask the artists I know for something, they don’t even know the artist. Seeing something you like does not mean you need to latch onto the artist and attempt to bleed them dry.
5. Can you teach me to draw?
It’s cool that you think highly enough of someone’s talent/skill that you want them to share it with you. It’s cool that you want to draw. Most times the answer will be no. Don’t get upset about it, it’s not going to change anything. The majority of artists got to their varying skill levels due to practice, years and years of practice.
It’s not something that can be taught in a day, and even if it were, that doesn’t mean someone is automatically equipped to teach you in a way you will understand. Please do not blow up at someone if they refuse to teach you, it’s most likely not them being a jerk. It’s just not something that can be taught.
6. Your commission prices are too high.
The prices of art are based on a great many things. The size, the amount of medium used, the time it took to make. Mostly though, the price of art is determined by the artist. You don’t have to agree with their pricing, you don’t have to buy their art. Most importantly, you don’t have to insult them and tell them what they’ve made isn’t worth what they deem it to be worth.

HELP! Anyone going to Otakon?
Posted 14 years agoIf anyone is going to Otakon and can spare a little corner for me to leave my stuff and sleep in, I would be forever grateful. I can't pay any money, as I'm beyond tight on that as it is, but I can bring a bunch of snack foods. Otakon is like the one time a year I can see certain people, and I'd be devastated if I couldn't go this year. Please help.

Posted 15 years agoI've just been playing WAY too much Team Fortress 2. Hod, this game is amazing, and so is the fandom. I've been hanging out on TF2chan and it's server, The Mantrain. I've made so many amazing friends there. <3

Back from the Great Virus Epidemic of 2010
Posted 15 years agoSo, apparently I somehow managed to get my computer filled to the brim with viruses and malware. And no, it wasn't from downloading porn! >.< Anyway, after trying to get a damn anti-virus thing, since Norton is a piece of crap 90% of the time, I found out a damn malware had litterally taken over my internet browser. Goody. I litterally couldn't go anywhere. So, I called my uncle, who is the family's computer guru. We tried to fix it, but we ended up just having to reinstall my whole computer. Grand. So after I did the reinstall disk, found out it didn't install right the first time. Yeah, made me grumpy. So, I did it again. It worked this time, and I got everything set up. Or so I thought... went to log in to my computer and I got "The password is incorrect." Ok, I type it again. Still wrong. Apparently I typed the password wrong to begin with, and I couldn't figure up how I screwed it up to get in to change it. Well damn. So, back in goes the reinstall disk, through the install process, and guess what. Cat jumps on the keyboard and messes it up. Again. So, after restraining myself from chucking the damn thing through a window (the computer, not the cat), I managed to get it reinstalled, and here I am. So, that's been my Sunday-now.
Oh, and I got that glorious "time of the month." FUCK!

Now I just need some help with a little spending cash, so I can buy mad Soul Eater merch (Blame Gichigami for this awsome new obsession). I'd also like to start saving up to possibly get a partial fursuit. The quotes I've been getting are running around $800 (*wallet cries*) so no way I can shell that all out with my $7.25 an hour job. :P
I'll be doing color, full body and icon commishies this time around. I want to do a special series of cosplay commissions. So, you're character in your favorite anime/TV/movie/video game character's outfit! I can also do general fetish cosplay (nurses, school uniforms, maids). These will be $15 full body, colored commissions with minor background, like leaning on a desk or something. I'll be taking 5 slots for these. I can also do $5 cosplay icons, which I can take as many as I get since they're smaller.

Posted 16 years agoDoing some house keeping. I'm going to be getting rid of some of my old art that i jsut don't like anymore. Mostly stuff when I first joined here. So if you notice a few things missing, they went into retirement. I might also move a few to scraps, so check there if you want.

Posted 16 years agoI really don't have anything left. The one person I ever truely loved hates me, and has a new girlfriend. He seems so happy with her. It just hurts too much. I'm fat, I'm ugly, I'm semi-retarded. I have a dead-end minimum wage job, no friends, and parents who constantly fight. Sometimes I wonder why I'm even still alive.

Posted 16 years agoAfter doing some work and research, it's not just my hard drive that's borked. Something else is wrong, and there's no way to fix it without sending to HP to get repaired.
Now, there's 2 things wrong with that.
1. My computer's out of warranty
2. It'll cost $390, and I don't have a job
So, I'm BEGGING my watchers. For the love of god, PLEASE commission me. I'll do ANYTHING. You want a duck riding a unicycle while drinking a milkshake? I'll do it!
Please, tell your friends and family, and random people. I just want my laptop back. T 3T I know I'm nowhere near some of the artists on here, but I'm desperate. I'm only able to get on with my mom's computer, and she's about to kick me off of it cause I "need to get my laptop fixed."
Now, there's 2 things wrong with that.

Posted 16 years agoSO, my laptop's hard drive has gotten borked. D: AND, my computer is now 8 days out of warranty, so FUCKNUGGETS. Me with no job + money for repair = OHGODNO D:
Luckily, I can use the other two computers to do art! So, if anyone can spare it, I'm doing $10 chibi arts! They'll be monochrome in a color of your choice. I'll post an example a little bit later.
