I've always been a bit annoyed when artists and friends change accounts. Seemed like a ton of work to rebuild everything from scratch, plus I had to get used to a whole new identity for them.

Then about 5 minutes ago I was reminded that I never really liked my own user name. I picked it forever ago. Well, even that is only half true. I generated a random name in WoW for a blood elf and tweaked it. That is the ultra secret origin of Sathirran. He had a goatee. Cuz he was a dude. Because I was so not out when I made that character, or this account, for that matter. If you dig deep in my scraps, you will find among the earliest pictures some pictures of a very sad, very generic male coon. And that's just not me. But I've always been trapped with that identity. Part of the problem was I just couldn't think of any good user names. Most of what I could think of were wordy, not exactly names, and slightly pretentious sounding (and taken). But then I remembered a nickname a certain friend used occasionally for me, which happened to intersect with my own name.

I had some issues with my feet for the last few months, and I didn't know what that was about. Ingrown toenails, mostly. Really painful ones. I noticed a week or so ago that they were also super dry and callused, so I got some lotion and it made a huge difference overnight

They are a tool for coping with stress, anxiety, and depression, as recommended by my therapist. In other words, they're just for me. I'm not looking for sympathy or advice. My general assumption is that no one will read them or comment, and when they do I often get a whole new dose of social anxiety. Sometimes it's fine, but I'm really not in the mood for people right now. I'm homeless and starting a new job. Money's tight, I'm stressed out, and I'm somewhere I've never been before. I don't need anything extra on top of that.

I'm considering disabling my account after I get the rest of my owed art, and may purge my IM friend lists if I have to

I found my home town

I've avoided them. I played plenty of singleplayer ones over the years. Medal of Honor back before everyone got sick of WWII, CoD from the original up to Modern Warfare 2, All the Halos. But I never played online much. The original reason was shitty, shitty internet. In high school, we had dial-up, which was awful, and later satellite which was better but had bad latency. So playing online just wasn't an option. Meanwhile, my peers were playing CoD all day every day, honing twitch gaming reflexes that make them annoying as fuck to play against, especially on PC.

Enter Overwatch. I liked the characters, and the usual Blizzard polish. So for some reason I bought the PC version, against my better judgment. I then played it maybe once. Against bots. Then never touched it again. Later started streaming her matches on Xbox One, and said I should buy that version. I did, again against my better judgment (Judgment is a fucking stupid word, btw). This time I played several times over the course of the week. And then never touched it again. And then I didn't renew my Gold subscription because money.

And then Achievement Hunters decided to play a lot of Rainbow Six: Siege. Now, R6 was one of my old favorites. I played Rogue Spear a lot. I liked the tactical aspect, and Siege seemed to do a good job of bringing that into a modern game soooo I bought it because I'm dumb. I've actually been playing it almost every day. It's extremely unforgiving, but something about the tactical approach keeps me going. Often I'm one of the first people dead, but I've also been the mvp on more than one occasion. It can be frustrating, but it's a game that you can still get make progress in as you learn the maps and figure out how to cope with enemy tactics.

Then last night I was watching stream Overwatch again. I was cleaning up to move, so naturally I procrastinated, and started downloading the Xbox and Overwatch updates in the meantime. They let me join them for a few rounds afterward. I was expecting to suck, because that's my default assumption, but I guess I did alright. I didn't get any Plays of the Game, and we lost a couple matches, but I got some kills in. Apparently I managed to suck little enough that I'll be allowed to play again sometime

The drive took 8 hrs. I never want to do it again, but tomorrow I get to drive back... except leaving even later, because apparently the interview will take 6 fucking hours. But the Chicago job isn't going to happen, so I kinda need this one, so... driving.

I've always been nervous about driving, like pretty much everything else in life, but honestly the worst part was just how uncomfortable it is sitting there for that long. At least now I know what it would be like to try sleeping in my car.

Silence for months, and then suddenly everyone wants to schedule an interview within the same 3 days.

I had an interview yesterday for a shitty local job that doesn't pay great, but should cover the bills. Frankly, it's better pay than I would have expected when I gave up and started applying for these kinds of jobs. I assumed this route would involve living in my subcompact, but that *might* not be the case with this one... but barely. Like there won't be any money left after rent and car insurance. Yay, ramen.

They gave me the job offer immediately following the interview. Didn't realize it would be that easy or that fast. And I kinda hesitated because...

I got the call about that interview first thing Monday morning. Literally right after that, I got in the shower and missed another call. When I called back, I was told I had another interview "tomorrow" (turned out to be Wednesday, but whatever) for a scrum master position I had applied for 2 weeks ago. Then a bit after that, I got an IM on my work computer asking for a call about another internal opening on Tuesday. A couple hours later, I got another call from a different recruiter I had talked to forever ago about an interview, asking for good times for that afternoon or the next day.

In short, I had a really easy interview Tuesday for a job I don't want but might have to settle for and it's better to have it than to be screwed, I had a phone call an hour before that about a possible assignment that I should be able to get easily *if* they can get it done by Friday (my last day) or give me an extension, I had an interview that went pretty well an hour ago for a job that might actually be pretty good, and I have another one tomorrow afternoon that I probably won't get but fuck it.

It's not much yet, but it's better than I've had for a while.

Also, I've been playing Heat Signature in the closed beta. It is awesome. It even made me decide to stream it, in 2 Twitch sessions each for an audience of 1. If cats count as 1.

No luck at all on the job hunt. I only have 2 weeks left. No one is going to hire me with only 1 year of experience. I'm going to shift focus to spamming out applications for any and all local entry level jobs, but I don't expect that to go any better.

Since this will probably be the last time I have a chance, I decided to go ahead and play Breath of the Wild. I had been waiting until I could get a Switch, but that obviously isn't going to happen. The Wii U version is fine, though. And it's as good as everyone made it sound. I do kinda get lost at times, but I kinda need that right now anyway
