I'm actually enjoying the site so far. A few hiccups, but understandable since it's still in beta. However, I can actually post videos here :3
Even with the hiccups, they get fixed pretty quickly I notice. If anyone is apart of this (and I recommend it!) come add me there too ^.^

A Furry Comic Interpretation of Pink Floyd's "The Wall"
Posted 9 years agoI don't often do this but this caught my attention something fierce.
So those that have followed me for awhile, a few years back, I posted a Journal about my first reaction to seeing the Film of Pink Floyd: The Wall. First view disturbed me at first but when I watched it again with a deeper look, it blew my mind. I'm a guy that suffers from clinical depression (I don't normally like to talk about that) but even if one wasn't, this was a very relatable portrayal of the experience and fight against severe depression. A battle the protagonist eventually overcame in the end. I have kept the story close to my heart. Despite the darkness in most of it, it has a way of helping you identify your woes and breaking them down. Whether it be a clinical case, or just a bunch of past events that is keeping you down and giving you a hard time.
Any who, I was thinking about doing a cover album when I ran into this Ad on FA. Clicked on it and found this comic an artist produced. I gotta say, it's pretty great! Y'all should really check this out!
I will warn you though, this comic gets pretty graphic. Much more than the movie.
I don't believe it's necessary to be familiar with the wall before reading this. It's self explanatory on its own as it should be, but I would recommend seeing the film or stage show off YouTube or hearing the album first for the full effect!
You'll find the comic here! http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15456923/
At the end of Act I, he'll have a link in there to take you to Act II. As well as the final page near the end.

RF: I'm not jumping to conclusions but I'm not ruling it out
Posted 10 years agoTo be honest, I am /NOT/ ruling out the possibility of organized sabotage. I mean what better way to damage a culture than doing things looking like us that would lead us to tear each other apart. It's too coincidental. Yes we have our problems here and there but there are limits. (Plus what group doesn't have problems~)
I mean think about it. Go in posing as said culture. Choose the more controversial side of it, destroy hotel property and whatnot, then walk away while everyone is too busy blaming themselves.
Anywho AZFC is next week. We'll see what happens there.

A theory on baby furs and why some may take the Identity
Posted 10 years agoI would like to start by saying that as an individual who dresses up like an animal, an act well in the super weird category in society, I do not judge the sub culture other than by my interactions with the friends I have that happen to be babyfurs. They are very nice and well mannered people.
I do however, have a theory on why someone may chose to be apart of this subculture. I understand that this may not account for everyone(and let me be clear, I know there are different reasons why they are what they are), but as someone who lives with depression, I can imagine this being a reason.
The existence of adults living as adolescent versions of themselves (including baby furs, the cultural overlap between furries and the adult infancy communities) could have a strong correlation with depression. Depression as a disorder can sometimes push someone back into feeling very small and weak. Physically and emotionally. As a child, you were very emotionally weak. You even felt such weakness down to your soul. I can see how in some cases, an episode of depression can make one relive that experience. And so, when they live that, they see a younger version of themselves. Someone that can feel this weak, but when happy, a strong sense of innocence. But when down, they feel like they need someone bigger and stronger to be there for them (hence daddies).
So I wonder if this sort of depression can lead someone into seeking an adolescent persona. Where they are small and needy, but the simpler things in life can make them happy, like a child, while having bigger and stronger adults there for them always able to bring them up again.
In short, perhaps being this way for a lot of people is a way of coping with strong depression.

Furry Siesta Report
Posted 10 years agoSo......that was quite possibly the highlight of my entire summer. Even as much fun as I expected it to me, It still managed to exceed my expectations 3x over. The gathering had a lot more attendees than expected, and it was all virtually flawless! In a lot of ways, it was better than a full fledged furry convention.
To bring anyone up to speed, Furry Siesta is a summer event held by the Texas Furry Fiesta (TFF) Committee (Dallas Regional Anthropomorphic Meeting Association (D.R.A.M.A.)). Think of it as a Party con, but without the actual convention part. Essentially it's a large scale furmeet that involves hotel ballrooms (filled with games, chair/tables, food, ect. ect.), and a roomblock. for guests. All of it lasting 2 days.
For those who go to cons primarily for social interaction, the sole purpose of Siesta was just that! It still had a few events like a Smash Bros tourney, Werewolf, a Pool Party, a (pretty impromptu) fursuit parade, room parties, ect. but it's all the good stuff you get out of the social aspect of a convention without the stress of trying to keep up with panels and whatnot.
Seriously can't wait to go again! ^.^

Follow me on BandsInTown! | TFF Dance News
Posted 10 years agoSo my Creative Lifestyles professor in College told me about this app/website after learning about me as a musician (He's also in a local band). I jump on there, and the site already had Sebris listed as a musician. I thought someone else took the name but then I realized of the followers that were already following the page, a few of them were also my friends. A lot of them furries. So I downloaded the Manager app, and after signing in with Facebook, BOOM! The page is mine XD
So if anyone wants to keep up with some upcoming show dates, or any projects, feel free to track my profile :D So far, I only have three shows posted, however I have a few more that will come up as confirmations roll in.

I feel sorry for both the domestic ad buyers and the others.
Posted 10 years agoThe others being the part of IMVU that's making money off of the Ads. I couldn't fit that in the title.
Like I said in the last journal, the new move has made everyone equip Ad Blockers. Not only is this knocking out the corporate revenue, but the airtime for those who wanted to advertise their own art or works on this site. It's a pity~

Ad hypocrisy
Posted 10 years agoso basically we will se ads to general pornography now. Fair enough. I mean whatever gets you money. I'll just use Adblock to avoid the malicious ones. I mean shit, that would get everyone to use it now which will take a blow to your ad revenue, but hey! I'm not an IMVU/fa executive. I can't exactly judge the revenue or PR practices.
Here's my only problem.
Why is it like this while the AUP is still as it follows...
"PHOTOGRAPHY
3.3 - Photography featuring sexual activity (human or animal) is prohibited.
3.4 - Photography displaying adult toys (sex toys or sexually modified objects) is prohibited, unless they are not in use, being worn, don’t show signs of having been in use, you created them from scratch, and you mark them with the adult content rating.
3.5 - Photography depicting nudity (exposed buttocks, breasts, bulges, outlines of genitalia, etc.) or indecently-clothed models (undergarments, diapers, lingerie) is prohibited. Exceptions may be made for swimsuits worn in public locations, such as a pool or beach.

Chasing Tropical Storm Bill
Posted 10 years agoA Journal for any Meteorology furs or anyone who likes Severe Weather.
For those that don't know, aside from my professions, Storm Chasing or anything that revolves around Severe Weather is a hobby of mine. I always was heavily fascinated by Meteorology. Blame it on the F2 Tornado that tore through Corpus Christi on October, 2002. I was deathly afraid of those back then...now I'll usually go looking for em XD
I'm not a certified meteorologist, I've only independently studied the subject on my own while taking a few courses, including a Storm Spotter's course. Even then, I'm always learning something new. ^.^
Sooo....I got a little ambitious yesterday. Originally Tropical Storm Bill was only supposed to make landfall on Matagorda Bay (Port Lavaca, TX area) but when I checked my Radar, the storm cut westward, and put itself on a path to make landfall on San Antonio Bay (Austwell and Seadrift, TX).
...so I proceeded to intercept the storm. I got to Austwell, TX just as the center of the storm was passing over. Video and Pictures to come :3
Gotta say, the approach was easier than I anticipated. The storm didn't stay well defined as a Tropical Storm. I intercepted the center by cutting through the Southwest region of the system. Rain was light to moderate with only Gale force winds. It only got relatively heavy once I started entering the center. Was beautiful seeing the inner bands from the center. Even managed to have a loosely defined eye, even though it's more commonly a hurricane feature. Even had some other chasers from Victoria, TX come by to see it. Storm surge submerged the boating dock on Austwell's coastline. Wasn't really high but again, not a hurricane.
Was quite exciting. I always wanted to do this ^.^

I see the Zootopia response, and I can only say this...
Posted 10 years agoIf you are very concerned about how the general public will feel about us, then we should be spending more time focusing on bringing out the best of us and showing people who we really are, rather than spending all that time and energy trying to hide what others may perceive as negative from what others try to do. We shouldn't be wasting our emotions worrying about this. A movie is only as much of a threat as we are willing to make it. The more we worry, the more it's going to actually harm us. Just be yourselves! If we don't let people see what we really are about, then what else are they going to look at when they run into the things only a fraction of this community makes?
I mean for pete's sake! We've came a long way! We have a major city that's declared an official holiday dedicated to us!
I'm prepared to elaborate more on this. I just needed to get this off my chest. I love this community so much. It really worries me seeing everyone getting upset.
