Endings.
Posted 9 years agoSo, every story must come to an end. This is obviously known by everyone. No matter how awesome a series or tv show or comic is, it will eventually mark its finish, whether if it's after 1 year, 10 years or 100 years for that matter; and- To be honest: I really hate endings, not as a reader but as a writer myself. I'm no professional, I'm just a hobbyist writer and one reason why I hate endings is because of one question: "What now?"
A good ending(story wise), if written correctly, could be interpreted as a perfect full stop; as the story comes into a full circle, so do the reader's feelings. They feel a sense of achievement for staying till the end, and finally see the characters' action come into fruition. A professional writer may even argue that their stories will leave behind a sweet taste in the reader's hearts, and the story may even be carried on for generations to come. One good example of this is the Harry Potter series, written by J.K Rowling. As Harry and his friends journey through 7 books, the amount of closure when readers finally finished the last page of the last book is indescribable.
Now, as with the same of a bad ending(again, story wise), If a story was never written to have a good ending, then it will never have a good ending. The writer may tease you with some form of closure in between the pages, but ultimately the story, when finished, will leave readers overwhelmed with grief, a very strong emotion that can make the story memorable and as such, readers will want more, simply because they need to find closure.
As far as I've noticed, there's a third type of ending, and that is, an ambiguous ending, where the ending is written in such a way that the readers are free to interpret what they want, and it is an ending that has been deemed most effective when it comes to capturing the reader's heart in order for them to stay interested in the series. Taking a quick glance at the New York's Bestselling novels, most of the writers have adapted to writing this type of ending, because it leaves readers craving for more, and it is in this case that readers will want a sequel more often than not.
So why do I hate endings? It's because I can't write a good one. I'm too invested into the story myself that I personally do not want the story to end. I know, it sounds weird, but it's one of the reasons I'm so clingy towards my characters. I've been trying to make myself care less about their fates, but in the end it's the people who asked me to spare them make my heart pump so much.
This is also one of the reasons that why I don't like to finish RPs with people.
Tell me your opinions, I listen, and I consider.

Posted 10 years agoYes, I am new.
Posted 10 years agoI am still learning how to use FA as a platform to interact with people, and if you want to befriend me, just drop a message and I'll gladly reply. I'm mainly on other social platforms and art websites so if you want to find me anywhere other than FA you can check out my profile, everything's there.
I guess I will occasionally upload photography, fanarts and stories I've written, as well as poems.
Do take note that I don't have a camera, I use my Sony Xperia Z3's 20.7MP front camera, which I bring everywhere I go. I hope you enjoy my photos.
