Furpocalypse room buyout/share
Posted 10 years agoIf anyone wants to cancel their room at the main hotel for Furpocalypse, I'd like to transfer the room. Or, if anyone has space, I'd like a share.
I didn't think I would be able to go, but work has suddenly allowed it.

I personally chatted with her about what an "asexual empowerment" scene would mean. I'm getting intrigued, I'd love for her to win just to see how that would work. There are some neat possibilities here.

I've wanted to use my radio voice for the furry fandom as well as professionally for a while now. Life has stabilized enough that I can do that now.

Epic response to people asking about"that show with a furry"
Posted 12 years agohttp://www.drphil.com/plugger/respo...../?plugID=16436
Fox_Fury and
FennecFur caught the casting call... and if you don't know it
FennecFur is one who was burned by My Strange Addiction (read her posts in both their journals, it's enlightening).
Now, during the banter, I came up with the best response: if say you're suiting and someone mentions "oh yeah I saw that show with a furry". Here's what you say. "Yeah, we had bad luck when the media first came to us. Now the media industry thinks we're an easy target, so if a show is on the decline, they'll try to get furries on the show, [like Howard Stern and Dr. Phil]".

Moving to 757
Posted 12 years agoWork has forced me to relocate. By the end of the week I'll be living in Newport News, VA.
I'm sad to leave DC. I've loved the city, and have so many connections here. But I won't be denied DC, it's just under three hours away, so one or two weekends a month I'll go to events there.
So, see you all in

Fursuit Meme

Have you ever really thought about all the things you've done in fursuit? Here's a list of questions to help you figure out just how much fursuiting you've engaged in ;3
No rules (apart from having fursuited at one point or another), just answer the questions any way you'd like!
[As I say in my profile, I'm a gonzo suiter, I suit at crazy times in crazy places! On with the meme:]
Posed in front of a mirror?
Yes, when I first wore the head with a partial I checked my movements. I don't do that so much anymore.
Been shopping/to a supermarket/store in fursuit?
Yes, several times. The last was on Halloween when I picked up my girlfriend at Union Station in DC, yes in-suit, yes after work, yes I was in-suit all day at work in a cube farm in a Federal building, and we stopped at a local mart for the week's sundries. I walked, opting not to use the wheelchair. The clerks saw me enter and yelled "Adorable!" from afar. We went the entire racetrack of the store picking items. The store wasn't very busy, the clerks stopped us for pictures at the end.
Been group suiting?
Surprisingly, outside of cons, no. Just never had the opportunity to get a group together.
Ever put on your fursuit for no reason and worn it for an extended period of time?
Yes. I've gotten the urge to webcam and just worn it. Also, when I lived in a high-rise apartment building, I would suit up and go down to the lobby and greet all the Friday or Saturday night drunks coming in or out.
Have you walked around your hometown in fursuit?
Yes. I've suited at two White House protests, and two DC Santarchys.
Fursuited in a different country?
Nope, I need to renew my passport :(
Fursuited at a con? If so, how many times?
Yes, lost count.
Drank in fursuit?
Water? Always. Bottles are best, small 9oz plastic cups work well too.
Booze? I keep a cooler of beer on the back of my chair at cons and have a cooler cup attached to the side of my wheelchair :) Just as recently as last week I went to a happy hour and had one bottle followed by a tall thin glass of pilsner.
Hard Booze? Just ask
Kamber.
Eaten something?
Difficult, but yes. Non-messy stuff. The best I remember is being fed giant marshmallows at a furcon.
Put on someone else's fursuit?
No. I did try on heads only before I had my own suit.
Ruined the magic in public?
Yes, but... I'm most comfortable in-character as much as possible, but if I need to de-head now for heat reasons, I will. Since I routinely suit in public, sometimes security guards or bartenders will ask to see my face, and I happily comply.
Gone to a furmeet in suit?
Plenty! Delaware Furbowls and some private events.
Been in a moving car while in suit?
Yes. I usually drive myself, and impaired vision of any kind means a ticket, so the head is off.
Been glomped while in suit?
Yes!
Glomped someone while in suit?
Yes!! I've been asked to join room parties and be a cuddle date!
Made a child smile?
Yes. I've been to the USA Science and Engineering Festival in-suit, and in public parents routinely approach with their kids. I'm always happy to give a high-5.
Danced?
Barely. I approach heatstroke too fast.
Been in a fursuit dance competition?
Noooooooo!! I do wish, but I'm just not built for that. In my youth I did ballroom, that's the most dancing I've done ever.
Done something that attracted a large group of people while in suit?
Actually, no. It's something, I suit in public, like the subway or a public street or park, and one or two ask for a picture or look twice with a smile, but the vast majority of people just walk by.
Experienced a hater?
Yes, the biggest ones being in the fandom, who will remain unnamed. Outside the fandom, they are guaranteed to make an ass out of themselves in other ways, and how it works is obvious. They expose themselves as either always believing in the worst of humanity or being repressed.
Longest time in fursuit? (what counts as being in suit is up to you)
With breaks? 16 hours. Without? 3 hours.
And finally...
Most memorable moment in fursuit?
Too many to count! Improv at Whose Lion is it Anyway with Alkali? At cons, furs or mundanes both who were intimidated by me but after two minutes with me were not? Having my limbs and muzzle being pulled in through the holes of a groping box by the lady inside? Taking a picture beside the Orion capsule?

http://www.trutv.com/ -> Vegas Strip
Not everyone can see this, you need a TruTV Online subscription. It's episode 302, second block (8:15). It's right after a bit with some silly guys with a baby zombie. But THAT was after a guy who got taken in for threatening a Master Chief and a Storm Trooper.
It's very brief, just a flash out of many costumers and Mardi Gras scenes.
Yay!

Some positive press
Posted 13 years agoRogue reporter at AC - Saturday 11:30
Posted 14 years agoWell,
hallan noted I tried to chase down a rogue reporter. I thought it good form to journal it.
Just as a heads up, this is not a truly finished story, er, one with no nice closure. But people were curious so I'm writing it.
I routinely strike up conversations with mundanes when I see them. A friend of mine on Saturday at about 11:30 at night were talking to four nice looking ladies... with tape recorders. Really, the devices they had weren't phones, they seemed to just be tapes. I talked in an ear a bit away from the reporters, I asked who they were, my friend said they were from a local radio show. I asked my friend where was the staff escort, there was none. Then my friend reassured me they were very careful with their words, I said that we didn't know them and the staff doesn't know they're here, they could just make up their own material and put our face on it. I told my friend I'm getting staff, don't feel bad if something happens.
Well, in my late night and four beers of wisdom, I went past the Dorsai guiding people into the elevator saying nothing, went to my room on my original mission to get something, then 10 or 15 minutes later went back. Golly gee, they all moved on. I tried running around the area to find them, this was the Westin hotel proper, failed, then I reported it to con ops. They said that they did have trouble with ghosts and mundanes sneaking into the dance because a radio show offered prizes to anyone who could get a picture with 3 or more fursuits.
I don't think the ones I was chasing was the same radio show as the one who offered that prize. Later next afternoon I followed up on the trouble ticket, nothing happened. I tried to follow up with that friend who talked to them, followed two leads, but didn't find anything conclusive. They reassured me it was a "good" radio show that defended furs on their show, but this information got to my ears more than third hand. I don't have the ID of the show, that's what I was trying to track down but I couldn't find the persons.
So anyway... I tried. Anybody know about this? Any stories at all, either radio show or ones not mentioned here :)

Markham Street video released

They made the teaser video public. It's almost exactly the same as the one I talked about in the previous post, the one which convinced me to release my photos to Markham.
Awesome stuff!
The first two episodes will air July 13 on Canada's SPACE Channel.

Redacted: Reporter alert: Markham Street Films/Fanboy Confes
Posted 14 years agoAlright, Kamber and Roxicat have personally vetted them for me per several days of their experience with Markham. That's half the battle won for Markham. The second half is the secret two minute thirty second trailer they sent me. I can't spread the link but they didn't say I couldn't describe it.
IT WAS AWESOME. When they say Fanboy Confessions, they mean sci-fi fans in general: Steampunk, Superheroes, Anime, Zombies, Furry, their world from THEIR perspective. The production is over and above G4, and the teaser features many, many fast morphs from comic book art to reality. The message is blasting loud, EXPRESSING CREATIVITY. "I dont' think I could go a day without doing something creative; It's like I think I've wasted a day if I haven't made something" "Do it yourself, make things beautiful, make things unique" Lots of footage of people making their creations in their shop. Lots of footage of people using their creations, anywhere from fursuit bowling to anime cons to street-legal Steampunk cars. The comic morphs in my opinion are designed in a way that beats uncreative dullards over the head, "We're doing THIS! Get it??"
So I'll be communicating openly with them now. They've expressed concerns about the players in the costumes consenting to their images being released, I'll be PM'ing people as needed.
And I'm looking forward to their stuff. They will be publishing in waves, it seems, separate shows for each genre, so perhaps we'll see the Steampunk episode before the furry one, and know well ahead of time how they portray things for us.
