Ollie Canal? Lutrai? Rym? Traditional Art Commissions?
Posted 3 months agoJust a general reminder to everyone that if you're looking for some lovely traditional art, my buddy Ollie is usually busy workin on one thing or another and does work by the hour for folks. Prismacolor Pencils on 11x14 or 14x17 depending on the idea being pitched.
Sketches. Just his coloring and other people's concepts. Just hit him up if you want him to put his time and talents to your concepts. Usually runs like 35-40usd an hour and finishing speeds are usually like 3-6 hours for not too complex stuff. The more detail and background there is to work on, the higher the number of hours obviously. Shipping is an option for finished pieces if people want to chat about that as well.
Friendly guy and takes feedback well when interacting with customers. Not going to have an attitude if you want to communicate about business. Loves to have customers around to chat with while he works as well.
Catch him over here. He tends to stream most days 11am or so eastern (other than thursday and sundays). https://picarto.tv/OllieCanal
--
I promise you, he's keen on all good faith business. But, if you have trouble getting his attention (he spaces out sometimes if its quiet) feel free to nudge me if you're feeling less than socially confident about pestering him and I'll shake him for ya.

Wanting vs Affording a Wacom Cintiq Pro 27 w/Stand
Posted 10 months agoI've wanted to mess with one of these for years, but I don't produce enough work professionally to justify the purchase. The last time I was considering a purchase, there was some manufacturing and lamination concern which was causing parallax issues after using them for a while - which Wacom wasn't being amazing about supporting since they mostly do business to take bites out of the professional industry market.
My eyesight is poor enough that the smaller options wouldn't really afford me the screen space I'd need for being able to decently see what I'm working on and in order to not break my spine, I'd need a highly stable edge-of-desk mounting solution for it.
Damned things are pricey. Fuss fuss.
Hope those of you with nice things like this are having great experiences with them!

Posted a year agoWell, we survived our first 'event' under new ownership.
Seems they got it handled once they got outside business reps to do their job in a useful way finally otherwise it likely would have been handled same night. >_>;
Looking forward to news of the FBI concluding and prosecuting the perp involved.

In other news, the donation drive was under 25k remaining too after all this. Good on the people still contributing. 😊

Official FA GoFundMe got updated - Known Debts Tripled :(
Posted a year agoGoalpost got updated as more debts were discovered for Dragoneer's estate related to medical and business expenses.
Figured people might accidentally miss that the second announcement was actually an important update.
Please go double check the official post.

Sy.
Posted a year agoThank you for the kindness you showed to me so very long ago as I was first setting out in the world.
We met completely due to a stroke of coincidence...
I was socially clumsy, innocent and so eager to know new people who wanted to know others and be known themselves.
San Diego Comic Con (when you could still walk in day-of) - After working up the nerve for 10 minutes, approaching to ask if you were furries too... and I just remember being met with brightness, warmth, acceptance (and some understandable amusement at how awkward I was being to even approach in the first place).
Moving forward, you were always welcoming to me and readily welcomed me into your home like you'd done with so very many people providing community to those two needed that in their lives. Over the years, every time we met or spoke, it was simple to pick back up as if we'd never paused. I always felt welcome around you, even with as little as we ended up hanging out in person or online over the years.
Thank you for your many efforts in providing a sense of home and community to those who really needed to be able to find it. You've touched many lives both directly and through others who have carried forward the sense of community you helped bolster so long ago.
I never forgot. You and yours opened up a way of welcoming others in warmth and good faith that I've always tried my best to carry forward.
You'll be missed.

I guess its off tone but maybe... go watch Animalypics. It was one of the first things I was shared by Sy when I visited a very long time ago.

On Nov 22: Rebelle 7 Pro 80% off
Posted 2 years agoWouldn't normally start advertising software on here, but this is a solid enough deal that I thought I should pipe up so people don't miss it.
80% off, 30 bucks for the pro version of Rebelle 7. Considering I just goofed and bought 6 Pro a short while ago, I'm annoyed but also pleased that the discount is steep.
On November 22, go hunt their webpage. https://www.escapemotions.com/blog
If you like neat art software and want something to paint with that handles watercolor type stuff and other various mediums, this is worth a look, check out the trial/demo of 6 if you haven't already.

Another Year Older!
Posted 2 years agoI'm now 41.
The last year has been full of VR experiences and honestly I'm a lot happier for it. I've learned a lot of little things by doing VR/Unity model edits that've helped deepen my understanding in other aspects of my creative works and that's been really cool. Also been given the opportunity deepen friendships with a bunch of people and that's been super cool too.
I bought my watermelon, chocolate cake, some cheesecake, tangerines and cookies. All prepared to enjoy tasty treats and feed them to people who dare close enough today. <3
Maybe I'll doodle something for the next few hours since its that time of morning. So far though, its been a lovely start with good music and a few new friends on VRC. ^^

Buy my annual for CSP Smartphone?
Posted 2 years agoAnybody with a somewhat simple character want to throw 20 bucks at me to cover the cost of my clip studio paint smartphone edition in exchange for doodles done on my smartphone?
Would give me something to work on specifically while also being in the spirit of the thing you're helping buy. I can't really rationalize purchasing it unless it pays for itself.
I'd obviously be perfectly happy coughing up the source files of anything I produce for whoever takes me up on this. Any works would be sketch quality as it's kind of hard to do finishing work on a smartphone obviously.

Woo! Got a free avatar from someone!
Posted 2 years agoSomeone gave me some free art, so I put my own spin on it. I'd thank them, but I can't. ;3;
So much for encouraging people to be their best self. I'd share their username, but I think they accidentally got themselves banned.

FA Site Layout: <div class="leaderboardAd">
Posted 3 years agoAs a subscriber, seeing only furry creator ads:
On the submissions and front page: We have a nice full width banner on top but then this then this wide but small advertisement beneath it with a ton of negative space around it... looks bad in every display mode other than tablet.
At least with the other ads they're beneath or tucked alongside and incorporated into the design a bit better (as much as I used to hate them cluttering the functionality).
Any chance we can ditch this ad type entirely for full screen desktop usage or do something with the element to make it take more horizontal space?
Sure, we could just block ads, but I'd prefer not to. I just want them in sensible places which do not disrupt the site experience as much visually.
My impulse is to find a solution which imposes symmetry and less negative space in display modes larger than tablet.
Update: I posted this journal and got an eyeful of this height-hog advertisement on that page as well. That negative space needs to go. <_>;;

Day-Sketching December Streams: Day 7
Posted 3 years agoDay 7 of sketching with Shiuk!
https://picarto.tv/Jagrabbit or https://picarto.tv/Shiuk
We'll mostly be streaming during the day 9-5`ish` Pacific US hours.
Neither of us are terribly experienced with entertaining while we stream, but we're happy to hear from folks! ^^
No idea what my plan for the day is, but I'll find something! Maybe PWYW doodles or something? Who knows.

December - Picarto with Shiuk
Posted 3 years agoI've been invited by my pal, Shiuk to sketch/stream with him this month.
Probably not a bad thing for me to be doing with my time, so I've accepted. ^^

We'll mostly be streaming during the day 9-5`ish` Pacific US hours.
► I'll be mostly sketching to get my legs back under me but I might try my hand at a few sketch PWYW thingies for people who aren't looking for anything `too` precise and extreme. (since my quality level is currently chaos from being out of practice and having to relearn my tools.)
and
► Shiuk's got his bi-monthly commission queue to work on and has his link for taking on new work somewhere on his pages if you're interested.

Boost - Early Hours Pixel Art Streamer
Posted 3 years agoI've been really enjoying watching this guy doing his pixel art stuff in asesprite lately during the mornings. If anyone likes chill tunes and something neat to glance at for long stretches of time, Nigmatism has a pretty decent stream in the early AM hours typically.

Commisions? Sketching this morning!
Posted 3 years agoFeel free to nibble at me if you wanna chit-chat and share streams on sketching over discord or picarto premium multi? :>
Also, I'd probably be willing to take a character/concept sketch commission this morning if anyone wants some hands-on time trying to flesh out an idea?
I'm just trying to get Picarto premium activated on my account so if you'll toss a month at me then that's probably fine. I'm not the `most amazing artist ever` but I'm great with communication for trying to rough out some concept so feel free to hit me up if I'm not already busy? :>
I might be up and running at https://picarto.tv/Jagrabbit at various points this morning, but maybe not immediately. Feel free to nudge my contacts if you want to shake me for business. :>

Birthday 39! Starting Lap 40!
Posted 4 years agoMy adulthood is now drinking age!
My 39th year around the sun honestly wasn't so bad all things considered.
Managed to resolve everything related to business having to do with Mom.
Learned a bit about money management due to all the stonk hype.
Connected a lot closer with people who have otherwise been close enough to reach out to all this while.
Making new art friends and also doing a lot of art myself recently.
Had a friend bully me with a free copy.of guilty gear strive, so I've been enjoying that well enough too.
Strong nod to my birthday also sharing the date of a newly recognized federal holiday this year - Juneteenth. Pretty cool stuff. 👍
Also, happy birthday to you too Lumi!
Going to have a nice long walk to start the day since the weather seems nice! 💛
Love ya all, friends.

TABMATE Controller + Joy2Key Mapping
Posted 4 years agoPretty damned neat! Been setting this up this today. Pretty effective honestly!
Good in CSP obviously, but wanted to be able to use it with Autodesk Sketchbook as well.
Has a single scroll-wheel which is great for rotate or undo/redo queue and joy2key can get around oddly placed commands in the menubar via press/release 2-stage input functionality.
