Unfortunately, I will not be there this year. I will spare my personal feelings about how the convention's room lottery was handled, it just didn't work out this year. Here's hoping for next year!

I do have to say that overall, I love working from home. But the only downside is that since our Command Center is technically open 24/7, if you are lucky enough to get a shift on/around a holiday, it is suuuuuuuuper boring and dead. While I'm not in the call queue today since I was also lucky enough to get assigned several "house keeping" tasks, I'm essentially just sitting here sipping coffee and watching random stuff online. I don't have Telegram or Discord open in the off chance I have to call a co-worker on Teams for something, I don't need my PC binging all over the place while I'm trying to help them with something, nor do I, if I have to share my screen, want to have furry messages popping up on my screen. While I have a feeling several of my co-workers are furries, I tend to keep my work life and private life apart as I don't feel like explaining the who's and why's of being in the fandom to people, as it often brings unwanted stress and anxiety, and to be honest, its just none of their damn business. I'm at work to do my job and pay my bills, not really looking for friends to be quite honest. Especially since most of the people in my department are about 10 years younger then me, or 10 years older then me. Honestly, I'm just looking forward to my lunch break, since its an hour, I can go take a little power nap if I want, or lay on my couch and watch TV. I have to admit, the whole working from home culture is really the thing I am most thankful for this year. When I was running the liquor store, I pretty much lived there, constantly working 6 days a week, and since I was the manager I was never really off work. I always had the chance of someone calling me to ask where something was or how to do something, or how to fix a mistake they made, and to be honest, while my boss was the best I ever had, it was just not worth what I was being paid, plus the stress was destroying my health, both physically and mentally. Towards the end of my time there, I would wake up and absolutely dread going to work because I knew the stress was going to be constant the entire time and wouldn't stop until I was back home again at the end of my shift. Not only that, working during COVID got really old really quick. People are stupid, and every day it was fighting with customers about wearing masks or social distancing, or breaking up fights between customers because they would squabble over stupid shit, I called the cops multiple times because of that crap and to be honest, I DO NOT MISS IT!

Now the only people I see are my mate, and my 2 cats and after spending over a decade in the retail/food service industry, that is perfectly fine with me. If I go out, its because I choose to and I am going to do what I want, not because I HAVE too. It makes me feel like I'm a lot more in control of my life and that has done wonders for my stress level and mental health.

Well, its only been about 8 years since I posted a life update. Life has a way of grabbing ahold of you and not letting go. Life in the last 2 years especially has been up and down. I had my brush with bad health this past January, spending a month in the hospital with Pancreatitis which was horrible. I was kept unconscious by the doctors for about 5 days, most of which I was aware, at least as aware as you can be with 103*F fever. The year has been a long, slow one to recovery, but as of a recent doctor's appointment I am pretty much fully recovered. We now have our own apartment after the passing of my mother in law suddenly in the end of 2020. I work from home now, which I absolutely adore as I don't have to people anymore except over the phone. I'm still knocking around online on Discord, Xbox, and Telegram and now that life has leveled out *knocks on wood* I'm looking to get back into the community more as of late I am missing it a lot more then I thought I would be at 36. And not to sound old and grouchy, but my tolerance for bullshit and drama is super low as I have dealt with PLENTY of that crap over the last decade. So I will simply say this, the past in the past and it will stay there. I'm not looking to dredge up things, I am merely wanting to come back into the fandom. I'm a grown ass man, I will not spend what precious free time I have outside my job coddling people who aren't used to being told "No." or who want to start bullshit. So, it is with a truly heavy and breaking heart that I am here to pass on word from his mother who I just got a message from, but my dear friend and proverbial little brother  ceeb passed away yesterday. He had been suffering from poor health for awhile and was recently admitted to the hospital. Over time his kidney's began to fail and he suffered a fatal stroke which took him from us at 5 PM EST yesterday, 8/30/2022.

Ceeb had always felt like a square peg in a round hole and within this fandom he found his calling as a writer. He didn't let many get close to him, but for those of us who did will certainly agree that beneath his rough and grouchy exterior there was a truly sweet caring person who cared deeply for his friends and was proud of his writing that he made his living off of. As with anyone there are many different opinions held about each and everyone of us in this world. I would ask you, my fandom, to use this journal as a place to express your warmest and fondest memories of Ceeb and to continue to cultivate the fandom into the wonderful place that Ceeb found it to be. Take a moment to take stock of the good things you have in your life and be thankful for the blessings you have, no matter how big or how small they are. Appreciate the moments you have with one another be they at the keyboard at your PC, the phone in your hand, or sitting next to one another. Life is not granted, it is not guaranteed, and above all else it is short.

And tonight, please raise a cheer for someone who left us far too soon, who's written word entertained us, and for those of us who were lucky enough to know the real him, inspired us to be who we wanted to be in this crazy, mixed up world!

I know that my account has been pretty dormant, and there is a reason for that. I'm still very much in the fandom, but I've become very selective about what I put online for just anyone to read. Those who take the time to make the effort to reach out to me in notes or messengers are the ones who get updated on what's going on in my life. I've come to realise at 31 that I'd rather have one or two close friends then tons of fair-weather flakey friends. Nothing too major to update ya'll on. Been performing stand up here and there, took 2nd place in a stand up showcase at a local club. I missed out on first by only 10 votes out of 500 votes total, competing against 4 other comics. All in all, I was happy with how it turned out. Plus, getting to hang out with the audience afterward made up for it. Other then that, I'm still in Northeast Indiana for the time being, but overall life is good and I can't complain. Working on getting my motorcycle endorsement for my license and going shooting with my brother and his friends when I can. I don't update my FA much anymore, not that I'm leaving the fandom, just that other aspects of my life have more precedence right now.
