The story of Nightmare, my laptop
Posted 12 years agoGather round, boys and girls, because I have a great story to share! A story filled with excitement, drama, horror, and a bit of frustration...The story of my new laptop.
Oh, but how could getting a new laptop be so bad, you may ask? Well, it all started two months ago, towards the end of July. My current laptop, a Toshiba from 2009, was beginning to show signs of wear and tear...The charging port had gotten very loose and will only work if kept in a particular fixed position, the DVD drive stopped working long ago, the fan rattles often, etc...I eventually decided that it would be more cost effective to just buy a new one, and that's what I did. I did my research and asked several different people who all helped me pick out a fabulous new 15" Asus notebook on newegg.com, which even came with 2GB of designated video memory, PERFECT for games and art programs! The only down side was that it came with Windows 8.....Or so I thought.
When I got the laptop in the mail, for some reason I wasn't as excited as I usually am to receive new things, but I still was happy to get it turned on and set up. The visuals on it were absolutely stunning and it seemed to work great! All for about maybe an hour...That's when I got the first blue screen of death. I'd been attempting to download League of Legends while transferring files over from a flash drive and listening to music, so I could easily see how I may have overloaded my system. I also noticed numerous toolbars on Google Chrome which have NEVER been there on my Toshiba laptop...After a bit of research, I realized they were adware that somehow magically seemed to make its way onto my brand-new laptop. Oh well, I figured I would just run a good ol virus scan and everything would be fi--Oh, look! Another blue screen!
By the end of the night I'd gotten somewhere between 5 and 7 blue screens...And literally ANYTHING could trigger them(Transferring files, downloading programs, listening to music, letting the laptop sit without touching it for a few minutes...). By the next day I couldn't even turn the damn thing on without it crashing. It's no surprise that I had renamed it Headache somewhere along the line. I actually ended up calling Asus tech support, which I've NEVER had to resort to...They guided me through how to do a factory reset on Windows 8, which seemed to solve everything, so after renaming it Nightmare, I decided to let it install updates for awhile to keep it running properly. I left it alone for a good 40 minutes, and when I came back there was a screen up letting me know that the computer had suffered some sort of hard disk problem and would be recovering. I decided to finally give up on fixing the damn thing and managed to fight my way through newegg.com's online and telephone menus enough to get an RMA number to return the stupid thing.
Now, when I say return, I actually mean that I sent it back to newegg for a replacement...They said all they had to do was inspect it a bit to determine whether or not I caused the problem somehow, and if not, they would send me a new laptop free of problems. A week later I received emails about shipping confirmation and such, and I noticed that "Factory Reset" was listed on the invoice...Quite odd, considering I'd done this myself and it was only a VERY temporary fix...I couldn't understand how they could honestly normally charge for that service, considering that it only required pushing a few buttons, but it was free for me so I overlooked that. When I got the laptop back I instantly knew it was the same one...The stickers on the front were crooked, exactly how they were when I first saw it, and the thing came pre-set up. I was very wary of this, but It seemed to work okay. It blue screened once, but again, I figured that was just because I was attempting to transfer over too many files at once.
For the next two weeks, the laptop worked like a dream. It ran League of Legends PERFECTLY, never giving me less than 60 FPS. All my programs worked wonderfully on it. For the first time in YEARS I was able to use CDs and DVDs! In fact, whatever they had done at newegg seemed to have taken care of everything...UNTIL one night when it decided to start telling me that Windows had detected a hard disk problem, and was telling me to IMMEDIATELY back up my stuff because my system could fail before the next alert...This seemed odd to me, since the laptop was running fine, so I googled it and determined that I MUST have somehow gotten a virus. None of my programs found anything, but the Smart HDD virus and others like it will give you similar warnings AND disable your virus protection programs, so I figured that must be the case. However, not even the techs at the malwarebytes forums could find anything wrong. They told me to run an anti-rootkit program for good measure, and that's when it happened...
I'd had some music on while the scanner was going so I could just lay back and read while I was waiting. Suddenly whatever song it was that was on started skipping out of control. When I looked at the screen it was on the usual blue screen, but this time Windows didn't restart. It became stuck on the BIOS menu. Not even Asus tech support could help me then, so they just set up an RMA number for me and gave their apologies. I once again mailed it in, more confident in Asus than I was in Newegg, since they actually asked for a description of the problem(s) and said they would contact me when they determined what was wrong. However, I mailed it in, and despite the FedEx tracker saying they got it on 8/26, I never heard a thing back from them...Until I decided to look it up today and discovered Asus never received my package!
So...that brings us to today. I called their 24 hotline to figure out what the problem was, and as it turns out, they had me mail the package to TEXAS when it should have gone to CALIFORNIA! They're apparently sorting this out as we speak and claim that the problem should be solved quickly.
And this concludes our latest chapter in why my laptop was, and forever will be named Nightmare. XD Tune in again next week for the latest chapter in our exciting tale!

Posted 12 years agoI have NO idea what's wrong with the stupid thing...I had my OLD profile ID uploaded to scraps, it was 800x600, and it worked JUST fine...I tried uploading a photo of the same dimensions...Showed up as a broken images on my profile even after refreshing...So I changed the file to a smaller version, 500xsomething...STILL didn't work...So I made it like 300x275...SHOULD be small enough to work, RIGHT? WRONG!

My first class for the day starts at 9:30am and I have around a 40 minute drive to get there, give or take on traffic...I also had a TEST in that class today...I woke up at 10:35am...So after freaking out, emailing my professor, realizing I wasn't gonna be able to make more than the last 20 or 30 minutes of my second class either, etc...I realized freaking out wasn't gonna do anything...
And after stopping at Walmart to get some Monster and a new alarm clock, I realized...I hate my classes anyway! =D
I had a nice calm drive to my university...Managed to find parking even at noon...Sat in my car, listen to some music...Had a nice relaxing stroll to the building for my last class and did a little reading...Then I encountered two of the fun people I know of that are in my Children's Lit class...We were bored and early to class, so we managed to log on the teacher's computer to put My Little Pony on the projector on Netflix...A couple of people were complaining(One guy thought we'd destroy his manhood or something XD), so we put on Rocko's Modern Life instead, which received no complaints...Then the teacher showed up...
And she looked confused...
Then she realized what it was, pulled up a chair, and watched the rest of the episode with us XD
After that I decided to get some sushi and look around the mall for a bit...AND it stopped raining long enough for me to walk out to my car XD
Seriously, the day I overslept and missed two of my classes, one of which I had a test in, was the least stressful day I've had so far this semester...I'm officially considering changing my major x3 I've been more stressed out/miserable about school in the passed 3 weeks than I have been at my ENTIRE two years at the community college I went to...I know Universities are suppose to be hard, but at this rate I don't see this being something I look back on with fond memories except remembering how nice it was to leave x3

Does anybody have a vehicle they're selling or know anybody who does? If so, could you please tell me the make, model, year, milage, MPG, whether or not it passes smog, what kind of condition it's in, etc....Notes work fine! Minivans are preferred, but I'll be willing to consider anything!
My poor Nissan Quest, Bluejay, finally died...You know, the one I've drawn as a bird twice and drawn as an actual van once...Who even has fanart...And everybody knew her x.x She got me back from San Francisco safely, but the next day she died on the highway...her timing belt slipped and basically her engine was destroyed...Even in death she kept me safe and was able to get over to the side where I could wait for a tow truck...My friend was with me and we'd just taken the 5-year-old we were watching home, plus, it was only a couple miles from home so my mom could easily pick us up, so the circumstances were incredibly lucky. I just miss my poor baby Bluejay X.x;; She was literally with me for MOST of my time at College of the Redwoods and died once I was out, so she's been through everything with me...I felt more like I was putting down a loved pet than giving a car up to a scrap yard X.x
Anyways, if you have any cars you're selling and you live in the area, please let me know!

Posted 13 years agoI'm doing a project for my Philosophy class where we must make an informed decision on something and document the process we went though...One of the requirements is interviews...What I'm trying to do is decide on whether I should become a high school teacher or an elementary school one! =D
So, my wonderful watchers, if any of you are teachers or are studying to become one, I'd love to hear from you! What drove you to considering teaching as a career? What grade level do you/do you want to teach? What benefits do you see from the grade level chosen/why didn't you pick a higher/lower grade? If you already are a teacher, what do you love most about your job? What do you think is the worst thing? Is there anything you'd recommend to somebody just starting out?
Any information at all would be awesome! =D If possible, include/note me your name if you answer...If not, that's okay too. Any websites you've found helpful on this subject would also be appreciated! =D

Furaffinity, I need your ideas! =D
Posted 13 years agoSo, tomorrow I have to start working on an EVER so lovely piece of cra--I mean, abstract art project for class...The parameters are that it has to be made from at least 3 man-made objects(No trash or rocks or sticks or anything), no craft supplies or at least LIMITED craft supplies, etc...
The stuff I've gathered so far/CAN use are:
-A koosh-ball style duck thing
-A plastic baby Mumble toy from Happy Feet
-A mini deck of playing cards
-A regular sized deck of playing cards
-A toilet seat
-A couple of different bouncy ball things
I can find/get more materials as needed...We also need to write a paper on what this project represents...Honestly, and you can disagree with me if you want, this is only my own personal belief, I want my project to be "symbolic" of the fact that I don't see ANY of this crap as real art. Yes, I know, putting random trash/objects together is CONSIDERED art...Yes, I know there are people that really like this stuff...But I sure as hell am not one of them...It's my own personal belief that for something to be considered art, you should be making SOMETHING....I can respect the artists that do abstract paintings and sculptures, simply because they DO plan out and put some effort into their art...But taking apart a car door and gluing the pieces together into a random pile, tossing together a pile of pink objects, writing a word on a random urinal you found as a "sculpture", painting a canvas solid white/black, etc IS NOT FUCKING ART...It's fucking radical BECAUSE THE EFFORT TO DO IT IS SO MINIMAL THAT IT CAN BARELY EVEN BE CONSIDERED A WORK OF ART...These people who put a can of Ajax on a fucking wooden shelf in a gallery as "art" or put like half a cardboard box on display as a symbol for something ARE NOT FUCKING GENIUSES...In my opinion, they're total smartasses that are simply exploiting the vastness of what can be considered art.../end rant before it gets TOO fucking long

Would anyone be interested in commissions?
Posted 13 years agoI was thinking of opening some "practice" commissions...I don't really have a set style to offer, or enough digital examples for my liking XD And the best way of getting better is to practice, right? So would anybody be interested in a $15 practice commission? It would involve a simple background, of course, one character, full body, couples could probably be managed XD I will try to make them as realistic as possible, but I can't really offer much in the way of sketches to show what they'll look like beforehand, because I often times don't do a very good sketch before I launch into it XD Umm...If anyone would want anything else, please feel free to speak up XD

My random experience with Omegle
Posted 13 years agoSo, I was kinda bored, so I decided "Hey, why not try out Omegle and see what kind of fun that can be?"...It asked me for some general interests...I typed in a few general ones, like My Little Pony, Doctor Who, animals, cats, art, drawing, etc....Now, wouldn't ya know, it matched me up with someone who likes CATS
"Well, I see where this is going already..." I thought to myself
"What kind of cat do you have?" the person asked.
Yep, it sure went in THAT direction...XD
I didn't really know his breed, so I just said siamese mix and asked theirs, figuring they might be a cat enthusiast...They apparently didn't know their cat's breed, they'd found the cat outside and decided to learn more about him by going on Omegle...Yes, I shit you not...Rather than going to Google, maybe posting some pictures of him on a cat forum, looking up pictures or lists of breeds, etc...They decided to go on a chat website with a bunch of strangers...AND NOT EVEN ON THE WEBCAM SETTING!
Deciding to be helpful, I asked some general questions about the cat's appearance and physical characteristics...Apparently it was a male with short gray fur and "vertical stripes"....Not TABBY, but vertical
Being rather confused at this point, I ran out of things to say, and the person randomly said "Well, since I have a conscious, I'm gonna go now"....And as I was thinking "WTF? o.o" they left the room.

Posted 13 years agoOkay, so I FINALLY figured out I love using GIMP and decided "Hey, why not take some commissions?"...So I upgraded my paypal account to Premier to recieve money...But now I has questions...XD
1) How to I actually accept payments? Do I just give people my email address and it'll automatically be sent?
2) Can I transfer that money to my bank account afterwards? Can I set it up so it goes INTO my bank account? If so, how?
Also, any tips would be very much appreciated ^^;; Thank you so much to anyone that helps!

Posted 13 years agoNot really, but I FINALLY GOT ON THE ADULT SWIM HIGH SCORES LIST!!!! <3 <3 <3 OMFG!!! I'm so excited!!! I've been trying for that forever and I FINALLY DID IT!!!!! <3
My first run I got like 38k...The second run I started noticing was really high when I had over 80k and it was lagging the game....Around 90k I started wondering if this was possible and died at 92k...Then on the third run I got 30k! I was somehow expecting a grand total of 140k, but had over 170k!!! <3 Which was enough to score me 921st place!!!! I don't even CARE what place I got...I'M ON THE LIST!!!! <3

Home Alone Adventures!
Posted 13 years agoSo, we're not home alone anymore(THANK GOD), but a few days ago, 
delitakingdrake and I got to have some fun adventures while we WERE home alone! XD
The first highlight was THE BEST TRIP TO TARGET EVER!!!! First, I was driving down the highway when I noticed a car behind me that was almost EXACTLY like mine, except for luggage racks and some damage to the paint on the hood...."Could that be another Nissan Quest?" I asked...SURE ENOUGH IT WAS!!! Good ol Delita spotted it before me, and I decided to pull into the right lane and slow down so I could wave to whoever the other Quest driver was as they past me! XD Apparently it was an old lady and her friend.....Judging by their reactions, they did NOT want to be Quest Buddies XD
The OTHER awesome thing that happened on that trip was I was wearing one of my Rainbow Dash shirts and my Rainbow Dash pants, and got into a conversation with like three store clerks at Target about ponies XD The one was excited about the idea of making pony stuff/meeting other bronies...The other girl seemed a bit creeped out by the experience, but still kept up conversation...The guy just tried to keep up because he is not yet a brony XD
Oh, and Delita's Monster fizzed out all over his pants.
THEN, there was the night we were both bored....First, we trolled the crap out of eachother, then we decided to go get some Burger King food at 11pm...Then we drove up to this awesome spot that overlooks the town to chow down, but came across a couple of teenagers attempting to use it as a makeout/getting high spot...We then did what any mature adults would do...We stayed and played Numa Numa song and Gravy Rainbow EXTRA loud while we ate XD We soon discovered Burger King food is extra nasty that late at night and went to go home....But I was still bored! Sooo I decided to drive ALL OVER the fucking place...First we played Days Go By and attempted to reenact some sort of music video, then we drove down this really turn-y road and got to see the crosses for all the people that died on that turn....Feeling pretty sketched out, I was ready to head back to our town, so I turned on what I THOUGHT was the entrance to the highway, but instead drove down this CREEPY ASS GHETTO ROAD that I SWEAR had some crack houses or SOMETHING on them! They were all old and boarded up, but some had cars and shit in front of them, as well as piles of random crap! x.x Somehow a NICE house was on the end of that street...I dunno how they sleep at night....When we finally got back, I drove down one of my normal ways home....We got even MORE sketched out by the people staring at us through the windows of their houses and driving past a cemetery...THEN we went to turn onto my street and there was this random fucking pickup truck sitting in the MIDDLE of the street with its parking lights on...My initial reaction was "AHHHH!!!!!!" followed by "I WANNA GO HOME!!!" XD So we went home and I went back to being a pansy ass in my nice comfey bed on my nice laptop on the nice internet in my nice brightly lit house.
Soooo...Yeah...Being home alone can be fun, but in small doses XD Boredom seems to drop the IQ...A LOT!

Posted 13 years agoOkay, so for awhile now I've been hearing about some kind of controversy with Derpy Hoove's speaking role, and honestly I didn't really understand what the problem was...I seriously thought people were just getting mad over her voice not being what they wanted or something. I finally discovered that APPARENTLY some people were concerned that she seemed ACTUALLY mentally handicapped...XD
So like....Overlooking all other facts about this...So what if she is? XD She was freaking ADORABLE! Rainbow Dash seemed to have more of a big sister attitude with her...Kinda annoyed but seemed to care about her anyways. I mean, isn't it slightly MORE offensive to say no mentally handicapped characters can appear on TV? Isn't that basically discriminating against them and bringing focus to their disabilities? Wouldn't it be BETTER to have loveable characters like that so people might see qualities like that more as endearing, rather than something taboo to even really mention?

This time when I tried glitter painting, I wasn't stupid like the first time...I didn't just throw a sheet of newsprint down on my lap while sitting on my bed and assume it was gonna catch everything...No, I was prepared! I put down like 4 sheets of newsprint all over my floor, I kept a paper plate handy for when I needed to clean up large piles of accumulated glitter....I kept everything neat and well-organized...
Then I cleaned up....
I was somehow covered from head to toe...I SHIT YOU NOT...In glitter....And my carpet sparkles O.o
I need a shower XD And to vacuum... XD
