A while ago I ran into this bit of gorecore music by Passenger of Shit, called "Staple tapeworms to my penis"

to try and find out just how it works can be a mystery - and yet it undeniably does.
some people just can't take a joke? I mean, a few days ago I saw on the news that the Philippines were also about to get tsunamied due to the earthquake near japan, so i joked "oh noes, then the my little pony: friend is magic episodes might get delayed"
apparently the joke was lost on a lot of people.
but the irony is beyond a failed joke: the philipines got a 3-inch tsunami by the time it got to them... so so much for worrying about them
plus, the japanese are far more well-prepared for earthquakes and tsunamies than places like the philipines and Indonesia.
If the original ten-meter tsunami had hit hard down around the Philippines and Indonesia, then we could have talked about real damage, so there was some genuine concern in what i originally said too, even if it turned out to be a fart in a bag by the time it reached that far south.
oh well - some people can't handle poking fun at srs bsns.

I'm in the US. at Virginia Tech.
I've had a lot of fun here so far - but not without its price: mainly my attention given to FA.
i now have over 6500 watch submissions waiting for me...
i can only go through 32 at a time.
that is over 200 pages of submissions.
this number increases by around 100 a day. (well i do have some 433 ppl watched)
i wish this place had watch management like on dA - would make this a lot easier. then I would probably unwatch anyone who hasn't uploaded anything in a year.

1. The very first time I draw something that I trace all the way up to my current art style was probably around the year 2002 or 3, a golden spaceship i drew while drawing pictures with my, at the time, two young cousins
2. Despite its memetic background, then I truly try to live by the creed "I do it for the lulz". I try to do things that I find fun, that bring me mirth, be it in the long or the short run. It is by this that I chose an education that is fun, and now I'm getting my masters degree in it!
3. I am very close with my family. Heck, my entire family is a very 'we stick together' kinda deal. We've never really had any big ugly divorces in it either, although it looks like one is brewing on the horizon (but not sure if it counts, because its an old couple)
4. I am a fairly proficient leather and metal crafter. I can weld, rivet, sew - and I have made beautifully segmented steel armor, leather armor and then some. All for LARPing purposes.
5. I tend to collect a lot of knick-knack. I really suck at throwing things out I don't need any more... you never know when something'll come in handy
6. My parents paid for my tablet, after I helped clear off 2.3 tons of timber from their property. Thats a lot of timber, most of which was cut into firewood.
7. I drink very rarely, and if so then I do it not to be drunk, but for the flavor.
8. (related to 7) My preferred drink is high quality micro-brewed beer, expensive stuff really, but it tastes so good!!! (well, it usually does... there once was that coffee-beer... ewww)

Here you have a setup where people can make humanoid anthropoids, that is "beings that walk, talk and act like humans", but aren't. this means that they can pick and choose how many human characterists (or animal ones) they are to posses. equally, this means that things like taboo subjects can be 'edited' out, allowing for characters where you wont feel bad about doing things humans cant/wont/shouldn't do. This is of course my own understanding, but i find that it explains the often experimental or exagerated nature of furry sexuality. it is because humans cannot, that furries can - so we live our dreams, our fantasies and what have you through them, without afterwards feeling that they did a bad thing, for that furry character does not know/feel/whatever that taboo or inhibition.

- When did you start drawing?
Like I do today? Around the end of elementary school
- Which hand do you use for drawing?
Right hand.
- Which is easier to draw - male or female?
Male. Being one yourself means instant model and anatomy reference... female curves can be tricky
- Which is easier to draw - long hair or short hair?
hair has never been much of a problem with me.
- Is it easier to draw the head facing towards the right or the left?
like hair, thats not really a problem for me.
- Is it easier to draw the side view of the face or the front view?
side and 45 degree angle shots are a lot easier for me to work with - frontal views always end up looking very fla with me
- What do you have problems in drawing?
HAND! but also feet at odd angles and abdomens that are proportionally correct.
- What do you like to draw?
i do my webcomic mostly - its a fun draw. In it i can draw damn near anything.
- Are you a traditional artist or a digital artist?
digital - tablet is 4 <3
- Where do you start drawing from?
head usually, then work my way down
- What is your drawing habit that you are aware of?
sketch out and letter a good months worth of comics first - then ink and color like crazy. by doing the actually 'creative' bit first, i can focus on quality and detail in the second step, which makes the art look all purdy
- Any tips for coloring/shading?
if all else fails, then highlight the top, shade teh bottom.
- How long does it take to finish a piece of art?
A comic, from start to finish, can take anywhere between 15 minutes to 3 hours to do, mostly depending on how much lineart and coloring i need to do.
- What music do you listen to while you draw?
fast stuff. makes me work faster - dragonforce!
- How long does it take you to come up with an idea?
I usually always know what i wanna draw when i start to - although often small extra thingies might sneak in... it depends on how much energy i have at the time of doing it.
- Your favorite drawing utensils?
tablet stylus? Baring that, then a 0.5 mechanical pencil for paper sketchings
- Your favorite color/the color that you use a lot?
in my comic i use a shade of yellow thats supposed to look a bit like gold a lot... Mmmmm gold
- Your favorite style(s)?
i aim for a stylised realism, but where it is still VERY obvious that it was hand drawn, even if done so on a computer. I once had someone ask me if i really "did all that in hand", as in traditional art, but in fact it was digital, but they simply couldn't see. that is what i strive for.
- Are you satisfied with your current art?
If i ever get to that point i would fail as an artist - becoming complacent with your work is bad, leaves no room for improvement.
- What kind of artist are you aiming for?

this can be answered in many different ways... there's the in-character history of the character my fursona is in his current iteration - and then there's how i actually thought up the guy.
the origins as a character comes as many fursonas do - a high school daydream, a scrible, an idealized fantasy of how i'd like to see myself. thats it really
as per his current in-character origins, read my webcomic - its described ok well in there... well be even more so as my next grand story arc is about his past.

Posted 16 years agoGotta love internet drama - so lets put another cubfur on the barbie, its time to roast in some epic bread and beat everybodies favorites dead horse: Objectivism - and why it is a ludicrious and hopelessly unrealistic way working a society.
now, core essence of objectivism is simple:
1) Be as greedy, uncompromisingly self-centered, and powerful as possible, and you'll improve society.
- dont ask me how, but apparently thats how its supposed to work?
2) The free market is utterly infallible, and the government shouldn't have taxes on anything.
- and the current world economic crisis is such a good example of the utterly infallible free market... see those banks handling our money so nicely? perfect...
now, the above is of course a gross oversimplification... but imo its not that far off
Objectivism is the idea that reality is independent of consciousness, as in, no matter what you think about it. Many philosophies also believe this, but Objectivism makes this its core premise.
What the problem is that Rand, Ayn Rand - inventor of this load of bull, used this basic fact to rationalize being an overgrown child. She believed that not only should one pursue his own happiness, but he is morally obligated to consider his "rational self-interest" above all else, including your neighbor's, friend's, or even family's interest, much less for society at large.
so... Objectivism is being focused entirely on oneself to the exclusion of others. Your own pleasure and happiness, not that of anyone else's.
Therefore... Objectivism is... masturbation. Pleasuring yourself and wondering why you're not happy yet.
now, to follow up the implications of this, that the government is to do NOTHING to stop you doing anything, including spending your money... you get...
that taxes are immoral and bad.
Why? because its taking your money (theft) and giving it to things you dont necesarily benefit from (socialized public services are therefor also bad)
now, i like living in a country where the government usually tries to do the greatest good for the greatest number of people - hell, we even have socialized healthcare and hospitals and whatnot. Sure, there are waiting-lists, but doctors cant be everywhere. Equally we got free education: I'm currently in the process of getting a nice university degree... for free - i dont have to pay the college money, it gets that via taxes (which i pay gladly, making me a criminal in objectivist eyes, by supporting said theft)
so... no socialized services... at all... not even things like police or firefighters, or say the judicial system?
everything, if anything, should be pay-as-you-go. now, if my checkbook is in the burning house down the street... i cant pay the firefighters. Equally if it was stolen, i cant really pay the cops to go look for it...
or how about this: a judge, on the pay-as-you-go thing, might argue that the looser of a legal bought should pay the court's costs... including the judge's sallary. so if the lawsuit is between a rich guy and a flat broke junkie... even if the junkie has confessed and was caught bloody red handed? it would put some very nasty thoughts into the head of a judge who can see that a fair and just sentence would mean him not getting paid.
this is but one example of why objectivism would be very difficult, if not impossible, to work with in real life.
now, while i'm sure this might rouse some nerdrage from people who worship ayn rand and her crazy ideas, then consider the courtroom example. how would the objectivist solve this? Objectivism retains the notion of private property, i've also spoken to objectivists who maintain that police should still enforce such laws... but who to pay the police again? A monthly subscription? And what if the cops decide to up the price? or accept a greater fee from the thieves?

To them i would ask: why so serious?
I've been online long enough to know that such internet drama can have no winners - only participants that look increasingly silly as they either try to outflame each other
Me, I think it's been a long time since i've actively participated in such mudslinging. This doesn't mean that people dont try to throw stuff back - but I personally prefer a different approach to such.
See, a while ago i did a small university paper on Anonymous, focusing on 4chan's /b/
i did it because - quite honestly - the entire collective concept of "anonymous" is actually a fairly original and never before seen occurence. The internet has allowed the creation of a rootless, leaderless, and to a certain extent 'member-less' movement that anyone and no-one can be part of.
to understand the human psychology behind why these horrible memes and 'internet hate machines' and whatnot evolve you have to understand concepts of human nature and behavior that few grasp or even lend a thought.
why does /b/ do as /b/ does? I can assure you, anthropoligists around the world marvel at the online subcultures and societies being generated almost daily.
Dont assume that something that doesn't look or act nice and pretty isn't worth understanding. considering the impact certain parts of anonymous has had on things like the church of scientology, then this actually really is a field worth investigating.
of course, in the end - i guess the slightly TL:DR version is:
its the internet - expect to meet people you disagree with - and dont expect that your namecalling will have any real effect on them.
Really, i find it amusing to see those who so painfully takes everything they say, do and are told online seriously. It is one of the things that anonymous finds incredibly fun to poke at, just to see people squirm.
Me, I'm just a humble a university student - not something you'd be able to see from my doings and writings here all the time - but why introduce one self all the time?
I understand that memes aren't everybody's cup of tea - but even if so, respect or at minimum understand that there are those who do find them entertaining.
Just because its not fun to you doesn't mean that its fun to nobody. You are not the judge of me, so judge not, lest ye be judged - and your jury is made of anonymous peers.

I dont really do what I do with the intention of entertaining others - so I dont really expect others to be entertained by what I do. Equally, I dont really care that much if you're insulted or dont find me funny. If you dont like what I say, ignore me - calling me names only spurs me on to poke fun at you, for your obvious intolerance

while doing so, revieving the 'last modified' date on my ancient scans... i found a pattern...
this basically showed me, roughly, the time from which i started the path i'm on now as an artist. its actually quite cool
so in the old art meme submittion i added a fuckton of links to the art i've done over the last five years, detailing my evolution as an artist

I look down upon them. I think them less of an artist for doing so. Ignoring past mistakes and not learning from past art is what leads to the idea what your art is perfect and needs no further improvement. When that happens, you fail as an artist.
I will NEVER purge my galleries of art, not my FA, not my dA - and i'll keep pilling on the crap! 8D
