2020 + Personal Changes

This journal is kinda addressing that - what I've been doing, where I've been mentally / health-wise, etc.
Basically, I've been in a motivational rut when it comes to creativity for quite some time after quitting my part-time job. I got through the riding lesson session right before COVID hit, and then EVERYTHING including my long-awaited surgery was cancelled. So I've basically been sitting on my ass at home up until this point, with only visiting my friend's barn to help out once in a blue moon when she could pick me up. I got into playing a single video game for a little while, spending basically all of my time doing nothing but playing that game for a couple months.
Now, things are opening up a bit again. My dad has agreed to drive me weekly to my friend's barn, which is slowly helping me get back in shape / get my mood back up. That being said - I am WAY out of shape. I feel super weak.... and my sleep disorder isn't helping, since I'm having episodes of sleeping like 15-20 hours at a time, resulting in me feeling like total ASS once I'm up again. When you sleep that long, you haven't eaten, you're dehydrated, and what you HAVE eaten has sat in your gut for too damn long. Not a great combo.
Despite all that, I've got... some vague motivation to create again, as well as somewhat do chores at home. Which is improvement. But, still... I'm unstable in my interests, and in my mental health. And it's a big pain in the ass.
TL;DR - I haven't had interest in furry / art things for some time. I'm mostly focusing on working with horses IRL, and playing a dinosaur survival game when I'm stuck at home.

Forced to Resign
Posted 5 years agoI was pressured (forced) to resign from my part-time job last week.
I was struggling, my mental health was terrible, my managers / bosses were angry all the time and emotionally manipulative, and what with the holidays so close, it was only going to get worse from there. They refused to move me to a different department, and they "couldn't have me" calling in sick 30 minutes before my shift... so they asked me if I was resigning. They needed an answer right then, they said. It was only going to get harder from there, they said.
TL;DR - My job sucked, my bosses didn't give a shit about my wellbeing, and I couldn't handle being treated as a replaceable cog in the corporate machine anymore. They wanted me gone, too. So I quit. I hope it made their jobs harder.
Since I've quit, I've had a week to get out of the funk I was in for feeling guilty / like a failure. I tried my hardest, but my mental health and happiness is more important to me than money is. I'm going to look for another part-time after the holidays, ideally somewhere smaller or less stressful. Until then, I've got the horse riding lessons I've already paid for to do, and since I have all this free time, I've got time to volunteer, get back in shape, and get my chest strength up before my top surgery come spring.
I'll also probably do some drawing, and post some pics of a personal fursuit I've been working on. The head is mostly done, I just need to fix some things and make final touches to said head, and then I have plans for a tail, another mane / tail set, hands, arms, legs, and an extra set of hooves.
So yeah. I'll probably post a couple things now and then. Look forward to that!

Part-Time Job
Posted 6 years agoI've finally gone and gotten myself a part-time job. Minimum wage, but so far, the work is easy enough.
I haven't started posting more of my current 3D / SL work to FA, mostly because I'm not really sure where I should start. It's been bothering me for some time, since the majority of what I have to show is simply advertisements... plus a lot of the work I've done is modification of other models, not entirely new models of my own making.
With the part-time, working on SL product will be slow again. Not that it was particularly fast before, but I'll have to get use to my schedule before I can find the time and energy to pick up other work. I have some iPad doodles I've been slowly working on, as well as some more artistic (... and lewd) SL screenshots of modded avs using other people's assets.
For now, I've been most active on Twitter outside of SL. Mostly retweeting things, but I post screenshots of my WIPs now and then. You can follow me here if you're so inclined: https://twitter.com/zielomizu

I have been working on merch on SL, but that's about it art-wise. Otherwise, I'm going to start volunteering at a barn LEAST once a week IRL, every Sunday. I'm considering finding a part-time job, but haven't quite decided - since I ALSO have chest surgery planned for April 2020. My job search for stablehand work has been going completely awful. And, honestly? I was making more money doing less physically demanding labour through drawing weird furry shit for people. Therefore, starting next week, I'm going to start actively working on freelance art stuff again!
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
- I'm going to open commissions! Mainly for sketches and 3D texture work at first.
- I'm going to try to rekindle my online presence. Probably by posting more of my SL work, and doing personal practice doodle things I suppose. Maybe I'll hold streams or raffles now and then like I use to.
- I'm going to seriously think about the direction I want to focus on. I'm PROBABLY going to go with 3D modeling work, but I'll have to build a bunch of base models to work off of, and ~attempt~ to get my shitty laptop to push out some rendered images. So until I can manage that? Probably a bunch of 2D YCHs and such.
I don't really know what my exact plans are yet. That's a problem to sit down and brainstorm on my first day of "work". ;P

Posted 7 years agoI’m at my parents now as I recover. But 4am the next day, and I’m Not doing so bad. :)
Haven’t been able to eat solid food yet bc nausea, so been subsisting on popsicles and water. Been doing alright, but def hoping I can eat something soon without going into a sweaty trying-not-to-hurl mess,,,,
Also wasn’t as high as I anticipated I’d be. Barely at all, really, just been sleeping a lot.
Soo yeah. I’m alright!

SURGERY INCOMING - 3D coms CLOSED for now!
Posted 7 years agoAs the title says, I’m having surgery on the 5th - this coming week. The surgery is to remove my reproductive organs (uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix) so that they don’t run the risk of atrophying (aka dying & rotting) in the future as I continue to take testosterone injections for the rest of my life.
I’ll be staying at my parent’s house for a few days after surgery while I recover. I’m not sure how long it’ll be, but I’ve decided to close down 3D commissions while I recover and until I’ve cleared my queue because I’ve been taking longer than anticipated on them - partly due to issues I had to fix while working, partly bc depression, partly bc I’ve been spending time with friends a lot that’ve monopolized my normal time spent working (which was whenever I was bored lol).
THAT BEING SAID, I am bringing my iPad with me, so if I get the urge I may do some drawing while I’m recovering. But who knows if I’ll be conscious enough lmao, I might be too high on pain meds to function. 😂

Posted 7 years agoAfter a complete DISASTER of a day yesterday, I'm feeling 110% better today! I've been having CRAZY moodswings, which is butts. I'm not sure why this is happening, however...
I've put together a personal Trello again! It's not public, it'll never be public, but it's a place I'm breaking up the chores and other things I need to do and writing them down, so I have, y'know... a PLAN going forward! ^^ So I've made a list of chores / self-care things I need to do on a daily basis, and a list of chores I need to slowly chip away at every week.
I also have a commission Trello - I have for a little while! This one is public, and is going to help keep me organized there, as well. I MAY also add my Second Life / Merch projects to this list, to keep all of my on-the-go "work things" in one place! Concepts and ideas, on the other hand, will be confined to my personal board. ;3
I'll probably try to put out some YCH stuff, and experiment with my style a little bit. I enjoy drawing it, but... it's definitely a bit different than most folks are use to. Namely the way I draw arms lmao. I can change it, it's just my personal preference to draw them the way that I do. :'3
I'm also starting to work out, 'cause I am HELLA outta shape. And probably work on some costume pieces for myself, as well as trying to refurb / sell some of my old suits. I don't think I'll take commissions for costume work unless I actually take it on as a part-time job, in which case, I'm gonna be charging a lot more than I use to! We'll see how I feel about it once I get in better shape, 'cause the stress it put on my body was one of the main issues with my doing it originally.
I've also come to terms with... hey, I'm not 100% masculine. I still like and want to enjoy things I use to before coming out as a trans dude. And that's okay! I'm not working or job hunting right now, so I don't need to worry about looking a certain way until then. So I may do some experimenting with my wardrobe (I need a trip to the thrift store 'cause nothing fits lmao), and probably start painting my nails. Not so much into wearing makeup other than concealer, but I think wearing some nail polish and colorful clothes is an okay thing to do!
So YEAH. Lots of feelings, thoughts, and lots of work to be done! But breaking it down into smaller chunks will help me a LOT, since I've been stressing tf out over it all. It's been very overwhelming, because there's a lot I WANT to do, and a lot I NEED to do as well. Here's hoping my mood improves as I start putting some routine in my life!

I got a lot of work done today, which is good, but not nearly as much work as I use to. I think this has something to do with me being so... use to not working on drawing, coupled with my wrist not fucking liking it anymore.
I've been working on 3D stuff on SL mostly, and even then, not constantly. I'll work on new projects and then jump to something else that interests me more, which is a bad habit I need to stop doing, but is difficult to not do. 'Cause when I'm interested, I can pump out a project over a day's worth of work. When I'm not... or I'm anxious over things involved to do it... it takes forever. But then there's also my biting off more than I can chew. :c
I'm fine, I'm alright. I'm just going to go through what I originally planned to do and cut out things that aren't worth the work, or that I'm not interested in doing anymore, etc, and get what drawing commissions I owe done. It's only two, thankfully, it's not like I have a long-ass queue I'm slacking on LOL :'3

Posted 7 years agoThat vet bill is still eating into our living funds, so I'm still taking commissions! I've got all but one com left on my queue, and I'm just waiting to hear back from the commissioner to go ahead with the cleanup.

EMERGENCY COMMISSIONS: $230 Vet Bill

Despite my best efforts, and taking her to the vet... Jax passed away yesterday, leaving me with a $230 vet bill to cover. I made myself completely broke for her sake... and she didn't make it. She was bleeding internally, so I knew she wouldn't... but it's still upsetting, as I did everything I could and the vet told me she'd be fine. :/
I managed to save the eggs she died trying to lay. They're both fertile, and in my incubator. I hope they make it.
Either way, now, I need to make up for that costly vet bill, so I'm still taking commissions.

Hey guys - I HATE to have to do this, but I am in DESPERATE NEED OF COMMISSIONS!!
One of my leopard geckos is eggbound - meaning she can't lay her eggs. This is a condition that, if left untreated, can kill quickly - so I'm taking her to the vet today.
Unfortunately, as this is the end of the month, I don't have many funds to my name - $200 total. I have no idea how much the veterinarian will cost... a simple checkup is often $75 on it's own, but she may need surgery. Either that, or I simply... choose to put her down. Which I REALLY don't want to have to do... but may be my only option if the risky surgery is too much. :c
Please please PLEASE spread the word - feel free to donate if you like, but I'd REALLY prefer you commission me, as this is MY responsibility, so I should work for it!

Despite my best efforts, and taking her to the vet... Jax passed away yesterday, leaving me with a $230 vet bill to cover. I made myself completely broke for her sake... and she didn't make it. She was bleeding internally, so I knew she wouldn't... but it's still upsetting, as I did everything I could and the vet told me she'd be fine. :/
I managed to save the eggs she died trying to lay. They're both fertile, and in my incubator. I hope they make it.
Either way, now, I need to make up for that costly vet bill, so I'm still taking commissions.
Any help is appreciated.

Posted 7 years agoYEUP, I'm having two surgeries p much back-to-back, one in May and one in July/August! They're both p major as far as I'm aware (ftm bottom & top surgeries), so I'll probably be stuck at home not doing much between May and like 6 or more months after the 2nd surgery. 😅

2D illustrations you'll find in my gallery range from 2 hours for things like colored sketches, and 18 hours for digital paintings / complex inked work.
3D modeling, again, varies immensely depending on what I'm doing. A chibi or lowpoly model may only take me 8 hours, while a more detailed fully-rigged model may take me over 40 hours to complete. It all depends on what you want.
I may also be taking commissions for hand-painted 3D printed models on this chibi base -> https://www.furaffinity.net/view/25605283/ Cost has yet to be determined, but it should be soon! Will be available in multiple sizes, buyer pays shipping.

I've been busy busy BUSY! Welfare tossed my butt into the Goodwill Youth Job Connection program, which I've been going to every week for the past 2 weeks - and I have this week and next week to do until it's over. I've been doing well, made a good resume, got it out to some employers... and even heard back from one, too! It's a call center, and they wanted to hire me to do training today / for the next three weeks, basically, but I still have to finish the Goodwill course so that wasn't happening lol. Instead they're going to follow up with me in January - or at least I hope they do!
I also got a call back from another call center / customer service business, and am going to apply for one more. While I'd LOVE to go into something to do with Graphic Design / Artwork... my main experience is in Customer Service / working with customers for 5+ years doing commission work lmao. So it's good to keep my options open, y'know?
Also, come Dec 10th, I'm purchasing a male and female pair of leopard geckos from a local, well-praised breeder to get my breeding project up and running. :) They're gorgeous babies, and while I'm unsure if they'll be ready for this coming season, that's okay. I expect to need some time to get use to working on a regular basis (probably full-time!), so suddenly having a crapton of baby geckos to look after isn't exactly the best idea. :P
I'm going to try my darndest to get that last fursuit head done between the end of the youth job connection + the start of training in January, but honestly, who really knows how this month will go. Time has been flying by me like never before!

Posted 8 years agoBasically dropped my drawing prices down to the minimum wage Canadian equivalent bc I’m going to be getting a part time job that’ll probably be minimum wage anyway so HEY the more work I can get doing what I like the better lmao
3D stuff is still higher than minimum bc it takes a lot more time & effort, but it’s still down by a lot. I rly like doing 3D stuff plz pay me for it.

I’ll probably invest in some FA ads down the line or some shit, once I know what work will be like and I know how much free time I’ll have. Spread the word. But tbh I actually prefer doing 3D stuff over drawing so I’d rather that if I get to do something artsy as a career. :,3
