I'll warn you if there's any spoilers, hopefully I won't post any.


When I first heard that bioshock two was coming out, I was a tad skeptical about how they'd make a squeal to the game. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that you wouldn't be continuing from the start of the last game. The game at it's core is almost exactly like the original, in how it plays at least. I found that while playing through the game that the story was what kept me going. That said, I probably won't be going back in to play the bad guy, I don't know if my attention could be kept on the game for that long. Moving through the levels was enjoyable, digging up loot and scrapping by trying to buy health packs all the time. This added a sort of survival feel to the game that was welcome, it helped distract from the repetitious click click click of me hitting splicers over the head with my drill, which I might add is extremely gratifying. One of the weapons, the speargun, I found was pretty fun to use, as the game has a fun physics engine. Well, any game with a spear gun that can stick enemies to walls is pretty awesome.


The story, well the story changes depending on the good and evil. However unlike the last one, there is an actual ending cinematic which was great, good to see the chunk of production value was in the story. Such a rare treat to get a good story that makes you cry at the end of it(yes I did) or makes you suspenseful of what is to come, I find myself often knowing what's going to happen before hand, but this was different. I wonder if they could pull off a BS3, I don't think so... however it would be interesting to see, given how they did this one. That said, I disliked how it ended, left me with a sense of "where do we go now?"

All in all, I wouldn't recommend a buy for anyone. I played it with a good ten hours. That's with a lot of exploration and stopping to listen to the recordings and such. Pirate it or rent it.
