Maybe not cut out for this... - (Rant? - Hiatus?)

Hey everyone,

It may just be because I don't upload regularly, much less draw furry art anymore since I am mainly a Human/Kemonomimi artist. But also, I've been gone "so long" from the art scene I just need to build myself back up.

It's definitely QUITE disheartening to see no engagement on anything anymore. Not that I was getting much before but you all know what I mean, I at least had a little bit. I even opened commissions, too. For just cheap sketches back in September to help rebuild my portfolio again, it's been almost 4 months and nothing either.

I have noticed the lack of art friends, too. Which makes me equally as sad as they're all mainly gaming. (I do like the friends I have.) Though it would be nice to build up friendships, become mutual and maybe do art trades and learn from each other in the future. Especially because I am getting back into the art world (Relearning lining and colouring for my art.) and will be undergoing significant life changes soon and I plan for art being a significant part again. (I've underwent a significant rebrand already.)

I know there has been the discourse of Art AI. Which is am wholly AGAINST and hope that it crashes and burns to the ground, but I wont let that discourage me. Again, it just seems very bleak as I sit here and I feel like I have nothing to grasp at especially trying to get social media to work in my favour, even just a little bit. Engagement doesn't even seem to work...

I really don't know what to do at this point... Like, how do you even do anything anymore to get yourself out there even if its just so people can enjoy the art you draw? I know over this year, I'll be working up that portfolio regardless of what happens. It just sucks for the past 3-4 months have been nothing but unfollowers on twitter, a shit ton of bots, nothing on Bluesky, you get the picture, right?

Definitely wont object to any pointers, but at this point. FA will not be a priority for me to keep updated anymore, I'll definitely come on to see the occasional art, like something. I'm probably going to clear out my gallery and maybe over time I'll touch this again. I just don't see the point if I'm not what this site wants but also because I get zero engagement here.
