Can somebody tell me what all this Inkbunny noise is about

I'd like to preface this journal by admitting I feel guilty for bringing up Inkbunny yet again, as anyone reading this has no doubt waded through a thick marsh of other journals.
I just want to know what the big deal is.
As soon as a new furry art site comes out, every man and his dog (pun possibly intended) legs it over there and advertises it here. Why? Does this site have special features I should know about? Is there an actual reason to go there beyond one more place to worry about submitting to and divide my favourites / pageviews / comments even more?
