Artist Profile:
Introduction:
My fursona is a male adult lion named Leostarr. He is very much like me in many ways, only bolder and more powerful. If you know Leostarr, you pretty much know me, with the exception that he is much more self-confident than I am.
Animals:
Lions were my first favorite animal upon entering the furry fandom, but that interest has since expanded to a love for all big cats. It might be scary but I'd love to meet a cougar, cheetah, serval, or lioness up close and personal someday... or so I think.
The equine species has also held my interest in the recent past. I still like horses, though that pursuit has pretty much gone by the wayside. I spent some time working around horses (as a hobby) from 2007-2009. I volunteered at a local horse rescue for a brief time, and took a year and a half of riding instruction.
I don't have any house pets at present. Always thought of myself as more a dog person, but lately the domestic house cat has increasing appeal to me.
My Furry Beginnings and Art Appreciation:
I've loved anthropomorphic animal characters at various points throughout my life, in both cartoons and stop-action model animation. Fursuiters were my primary attraction to the Furry Fandom when I first got into it in early 2007. They still are to a great degree, but additionally since that time, I have become quite an appreciator of anthropomorphic art.
I have great respect for the talent that is out there, and the scenes/images you artists create and bring to life are amazing. I send out a general 'thank you' here to all the artists that have shared their creations on this Fur Affinity site.
I take FA somewhat seriously in my side hobby pursuit of becoming a furry artist, and as such I do not primarily use it as a social networking site- that is what my LiveJournal is for. I am here to focus on furry art. That said, I do like to have fun and I also use FA as entertainment and eye candy- I do participate in playful comments quite frequently. If I don't add you as a watch, please do not take it personally- that does not mean I don't like you, it's just that I want to concentrate on certain styles that interest me, and I have limited time to review the number of new submissions by those on my watch list. I can just imagine the huge backlog of submissions if I was watching 614 people on here. If I am interested in what you do on a regular basis, you will be added!
Literary work:
Up to this point my work in the fandom has been in the form of writing. I have been working on a story that features the characters from the movie Madagascar, which continues where the first movie left off. The story is mine, but the characters of course are property of DreamWorks Animation. Titled The Tower Fortress, it is a work in progress, published on fanfiction.net in the Madagascar section. In contrast to the original movie, this is a more serious story aimed at an older teen / adult audience, not intended for children. This novel is at least half-way done at this point, but is currently on a hiatus as I have no writing schedule and a poor writing environment (noise, distractions, and interruptions). My work on this story is what ushered me into the furry fandom, so I do hope to get back on it someday and finish it:
The Tower Fortress
My next furry novel is entirely my own creation. It features my own characters, including Leostarr, and is currently in development (mostly all in my head so far, with a few notes written down). Tentatively will be titled Unhousebroken. I haven't yet decided whether this will be published as a written work or a graphic novel comic, though I am leaning toward the latter. There are advantages to either one. Depends too on how my own artwork turns out... I cannot afford to commission experienced artists to do all of that work for me ($$$!).
Drawing:
While I am more a writer at this point, I can draw half-decent pencil line pictures sometimes, and possibly could be fairly good at it if I invested the time and practice to develop my skill. So, motivated by all you excellent artists out there, I'm giving it a shot to do just that. Sometimes things turn out well, but it always takes me a long time regardless, and when they don't turn out well that is rather discouraging. On my own I'm trying to learn how to ink and color my pencil drawings- so far I've tried some digital coloring, but don't know how my methods compare with those of a seasoned digital artist. I hope to be submitting more of my drawings here on Fur Affinity in the next year.
Furry Conventions:
I have attended Anthrocon 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. Planning to attend AC2012.

For my birthday this year (which was way back in September), I went to a furmeet called the Delaware Furbowl. I had been to two of them before, and this was their 30th meet. What an excellent way to celebrate! Just finally got around to posting these pictures:
