They are a sovereign nation dwelling underground with technology to prevent their detection, and yet there are many of their kind out in the "real world", blending in to look, feel, and act like totally normal people. Committing random acts of kindness and comfort to all those in need, MERVASians still know that they must stay hidden from the rest of the world, unless their technology be acquired by those with far less noble intentions, or their existence trigger a panic of ignorant masses convinced that they are Skynet, when they are indeed the complete polar opposite.
