This is the artwork of Red Dog, a 15 year old flame point siamese. His concepts portray the desparity in modern society between what is perceived and what is known. Occassionally also the result of a catnip trip. Red Dog contemplates each piece before selecting his colors with his nose, and then using his human assistant as a surrogate thumb, proceeds to move his paw back and forth across the paper to create his works of art. He then signs his work with a sneeze or by wiping his nose on the canvas.

FAQ (G)
16 years agoRed Dog has insisted that he has his own FAQ, seeing as how he is now a PROFESSIONAL.
Q. Is Red Dog a real cat?
Yes.
Q. Is he REALLY making those pictures?
Yes, with a little help!
Explain this process.
Red Dog prefers that his human assistants secure the marker to his paw to compensate for the absence of opposable thumbs. Red Dog moves his paw across the canvas on his own accord, and pulls his paw up when he wishes to switch markers. When Red Dog has completed his image, he walks away from the canvas.
Did Red Dog really comment on my page?
Yes, I figured that since he loves to walk all over my keyboard anyway, that he wouldn't mind leaving his own comments. He asks that I provide the english translations when necessary.
Why do you have a cat named 'Red Dog'?
He came with the name, and it stuck. I'm thinking he was probably named after a beer.
What's his story?
My husband and I volunteer with a local no-kill cat rescue, and when we first began volunteering, I noticed this siamese cat following me around during my errands and giving me the silent meow. When I picked him up, he immediately scrambled on my shoulders and stayed there while I finished my chores.
We asked about him, and discovered that he'd recently been rescued from a hoarder's home with 70+ cats, all siamese. The house had been in horrific and unsanitary condition, and most of the cats arrived with varying degrees of chronic illness. Red Dog himself was 12 at the time of rescue, and the oldest cat in the group.
As time went by, Red Dog's younger, healthier looking siblings began to find homes. Many potential adopters shied away from Red Dog and other senior felines because of the fear that he would pass away soon after adoption. We ended up bringing him home, and he'll be 16 this August. He is the most loving, affectionate cat we've ever had!
What's up with his eyes? Is he injured? Don't you clean them?
No, his eyes aren't injured. He suffers from chronic respiratory problems thanks to his prior situation, as well as inflammatory bowel disease. We originally were treating the chronic congestion and "goop" with a monthly cortizone shot, but since he's recently developed IBS, we had to increase the cortizone treatments. One of the side effects is that while it's helping his IBS issues, he's got more "goop" than normal. We try to just wipe it off with a damp cloth a few times daily, but it's not something he enjoys (we have the scratches to prove it!)
Red Dog has also recently been switched to a raw food diet, which has helped his health tremendously!
Is Red Dog open for commissions?
Red Dog would love to do a commission for you! Just note him. He creates in marker only, and will work with his human assistants in order to ensure that he chooses the correct palette for your character. Con badges are available, as well as illustrations and webcomic guest strips. He is even willing to draw your piece live for you on ustream!
Red Dog asks that in lieu of a direct payment, that a donation be made to the organization that rescued him: http://www.towncats.org
But a bit of change to go towards his supplements or medical treatments is fine too!
