'Nobody tells this to people who are just beginners. I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste.
BUT THERE IS THIS GAP.
For the first couple of years, you make stuff, its just not that good. Its trying to be good, it has potential, but its not. But your taste, the thing that go you into the game, is still killer.
And your taste is why your work disappoints you.
A LOT OF PEOPLE NEVER GET PAST THIS PHASE, THEY QUIT.
Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through
years of this. We know our work doesn't have this special thing that we want it to have. WE ALL GO THROUGH THIS. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase,
you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is, DO A LOT OF WORK. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one work.
It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I've ever met. Its gonna take a while.
ITS NORMAL TO TAKE A WHILE. YOU JUST GOTTA FIGHT YOUR WAY THROUGH.

Hey guys!

Thank you for the support in my choosing to take a break from accepting commissions for a while. :)

I do have an issue though I am wanting you guys to help me with. I am kind of technology stupid and am offering up my prediciment to you computer savvy folks.

I have a imac 3.06 24" 8.1 'Late 2008' that I have been using for my general work computer. The graphics card is starting to fail on it leaving artifacts, screen hanging and the like. So, thats no dice. 'Especially as it is my work computer for suits and I cannot be having that!'

So, I am looking at a Mac Mini because all of my programs are OSX aaanndd once you get into the cult of mac, you're screwed in that regard.

Are Mac Mini's decent? I am looking at the 2.5 i5 intel thingy.
Will that allow me to do:
photoshop
illustrator
Final Cut Studio
Then get a refurb monitor from NewEgg for the work room.

I don't play games on it or anything. Just need something to do the programs above.

Those are the most intensive programs I use other than FireFox for Pandora and website updating.

Im currently on my Nexus 7 2013 'which you guys helped me choose! Thank you! I love it!', with my wireless keyboard from TojoTheThief and the small screen is hard on my eyes.

Any advice in this regard will be highly appreciated!

Thanks!
-Soki

PS: Those of you at MFF, have a baller time! I heard it snowed. :)

My old road bike was a way-too-big for me Trek 1400. I loved that thing! Rode it from DC to Pittsburgh, PA. Now I have a Bianchi Volpe that I use as my everyday. What about chu?
