Conservative Majority, whyyyy
Being the political fuck that I am, I'm going to return just to vent my feelings about the new Canadian government. And then disappear again for another year or two.
Okay so, if you're unfamiliar with how politics work in Canada, it's a little bit more complicated than the 2-party, left or right philosophy you have in the states. There are actually dozens of parties, though there are 5 prominent ones. There are 308 ridings, and you vote on your party, if that party wins they get one seat in the federal 'house of commons'. If you're following, because it's possible that 3 parties could do fairily well, it's also possible for the winning party to have under 155 seats (or majority). We've had this minority since 2006 now, and the leading party has been the hurp a durp rednecks. And because they have less than half the seats, the other parties can outvote any conservative ideas (because they're usually stupid anyway).
So come election time this year... now they have majority. Which means they can get away with whatever they damn well please. Which includes putting health care in the hands of corporations again, taking away gay rights, and funding the oh-so-impressive military we have here. So basically, we're becoming America. And not California America. like, Southern America. FML.
Brb cutting my wrists.
