An artist (Illustrator!) from West Michigan.
I am a bit of a "fringer" when it comes to the Furry fandom.
I have been involved in the fandom since the late 90s. I enjoy the artwork, I enjoy having a common interest, and I have a furry character.
However, "Torakhan" the character is not a true reflection of me, or who I want to be. He is just a character.
"Torakhan" is also my pseudonym, avatar, screen name, handle, etc. When I am not "in character", you are talking to me.
Sometimes I enjoy being a little eccentric, but I am not a "tiger stuck in a human body", nor is the Furry Fandom my way of life. It is a convenient social group I am a part of, just like other folks have sports, music and the likes. I don't usually refer to myself as a "Furry" because it is not a spiritual thing for me. I'm a part of the club by choice and affiliation, but not a part of the religion.
I am however a role-player "Gamer", I am an artist (or illustrator), and I am a computer addict among other labels I will attest to.
I draw "Furries" because it is something I've been doing for a while, allows me to "cheat" a bit when dealing with anatomy, and is a convenient subject matter to draw.
I have admired Fantasy artists for a longer time (Elmore, Parkinson, Caldwell, Brom...) as well as many of the Werewolf: the Apocalypse artists (Ron Spencer, Tim Bradstreet, LAW, Bridges, etc..)
While there are many Furry artists here that I enjoy and admire, Fantasy artists are still where my heart leads me towards.

I really was planning on going to Midwest Fur Fest this weekend, but I recently developed some medical issues and I'm getting all sorts of red flags and re-thinkings about it (from needing to sit less, needing to soak in a tub often, and being somewhat physically uncomfortable, not to mention some financial struggles), so unless I get some sort of powerful urge to go, I think I'll be staying in West Michigan this weekend. :(
There are people I want to see, there are things I want to investigate and check out. But right now the signs are pointing towards "stay home." I wish it were different, but for health, comfort, and financial reasons, I think I just have to stay home from MFF, again.
