Remember kids: Thylacines/Tasmanian tigers are NOT wolves/dogs/mutant otters, so please START USING ACTUAL THYLACINES PHOTOS AS REFERENCES KTHXBAI.
First of all I do like wolves but I'm getting sick of seeing some characters so called "thylacines" that just look wolves with stripes on their back (especially anthro characters), I mean a thylacine have big roung ears, a long muzzle and a really thin and long tail, and these people make characters with big "pointy" ears, short muzzle and EXTREMILY FLUFFY TAILS WAAT. Or in some cases a reeeeaaally thick tail and long tail, it almost looks like from an otter!
The reason I did this picture is when I was working on my comic "Say what?" I was drawing my thylacine character, and decided to search on dA/fA thylacines and see how people did their versions, oh boooooooooooy, its like some people don't care how an actual thylacine is (or was) they just see it is a creature that resembles a dog, but ignore all of its non-dog features.
I don't wanna be mean to anyone who might have done this but PLEASE try to use references, try to make a thylacine look like a thylacine! I did so many study sketches with photos of thylacines before I finished my character design, so I would be sure I got all of their important features on her.
But aside this little rant I did, I loved this drawing XD I used both photo references for the thylacine and the wolf so I'd make sure I wouldn't screw up on the anatomy.
The drawing itself was really fun to make <3 Hope you guys can enjoy it!

Compartilho.
Haha thanks 8B
But there is SO many photos of thylacines on google (and even some videos!) that you can easily find, and you can see all their features that makes them different from canids (especially if you look their face from the front, it looks odd comparing to a dog's haha)
I feel like some artists don't even try to look for those references and see how these animals actually looked like, and just make a dog/wolf with stripes to be coolz

I find that kinda hilarious, since I did have done alot of mistakes on it's particular anatomy along with their unique reproductive trait (double of each organs like vaginas, uteruses and bifurcated penis/forked penises) as well it's infra-class identity when it comes to draw the anthro version of that fella with the anatomy of a canid for years ago,
in nowdays I could able to draw a thylacine, adapting into the anthro version properly at a greater and accurate quality in the anatomy and realism in style.
I sometimes made an few of essays regrading its physical appearance along with its reproductive traits including a novel called ''Species identity mistaken/crisis'' it was used to make a series of comic strips for hilariously about non-relation between thylacines, canids, hyaenidaes and felines while having told the thylacines in the second person, it was because of their strikingly similarities in the physical appearance and then they got angry then flipped out of the suspected victims for species identity crisis without asking the questions of their infraclass and relation. x3
on the note I'd like to let you know that thylacines had slit nostrils on it's nose just like their closest cousins if you don't notice that. :P
https://secure.flickr.com/photos/ra.....rt/6846198835/ (it's just a bad and inaccurate taxidermy of how it looked like except the important detail of its anatomy, especially slit nostrils.)
on the art related discussion, Is it just me or do they in the picture that you drew seem very closer to the actual size of between the two of extinct creatures, male thylacine and dire wolf in the link https://secure.flickr.com/photos/ra.....rt/7948697966/ did you referenced their sizes for this? I'm curious. :p

The problem is when people don't wanna change and keep making the same mistakes and use the "It's my style" excuse, that's no good!
'
About the nose, I just noticed on photos the basic shape, that is almost close to most noses from dogs, and its easier to draw like this on the lineart in a small area xD
The sizes are actually just a huge coincidence hahaha XD I didn't used any kind of info on a thylacine and wolf's size, so I just decided to make the wolf a bit bigger from the Thylacine when I was sketching, I just used photo references to get most of their anatomy right
This drawing isn't to be extremily serious, but I just wanted to make a message to most people about the many differences of a thylacine from a wolf

That's the exact reason I wanted to correct new comers that acknowledge about Thylacines except many of its uniqueness like it's infraclass, behavior, how they walk or run, hunt and etc.
The only problematic is when it comes to art, they can't really interpret how a actual thylacine is like but it'll always end up looking like a mere hybrid of a thylacine and a random canid or giving a anatomically corrected thylacine a canid penis and downside testicles by accident I was like: oh man... not that way, Thylacine isn't a placental mammal. xP
I'm glad to know it isn't really any kind of serious business about thylacines, though hyenas also has been suffered from that for being interpreted as dogs or canids by uneducated people, despite the fact is that they're actually closer to the evolutionary line of feline-like creatures than they're to canids obviously.

I don't mind much about genitals, especially on anthros, so I don't care much if they are animal-like or human-like
But I've seen a "thylacine" character that was just an Anthro Wolf with stripes on his back, with canid genitals, and I thought that was sooooo silly XD
Unfortuantly many animals are suffering with 'artists' who do not try to do much research about them :/

I think what he meant is that animals can go through a similar 'evolution', they are in no way shape or form related to each other but that they went through an evolution process that can make animals from different family/species look alike in certain ways.
For example: how bats evolved their hands to become wings like what happened to birds having their hands evolve to wings, but they aren't related species.
Or how certain mammals evolved into dolphins and whales which made them look like fish, but still not being one.
So the creature that turned into the thylacines evolved in a way that made them resemble canids, even though they aren't.
Of course that doesn't excuse people making them look EXACTLY like wolves.
I'm no expert in this subject, but I think it's called convergent evolution or something something

Actually it comes to that, it is naturally gives sleción example. But the jokes are based on the way they commented on his anatomy, but does so gives equal entenrder his anatomy is not like the big cats caracteríticas semegantes.
This is because one of authors descriciones less clear. It's common scientific literature. suddenlies in origin of species very clear differences between him and Lamarckian proposed model. That's another matter.
The points on the description given is imagined about the same wolf. is common erro we arastrande from time.
Relidad that no problems, it is natural ...
the joke has see author "Origin species" to be descricion allures are the wolf says has the same shape.
I do not know I'm there .. talk desconeción. They are paresen something and will have their differences. The joke is not that.
Conte believe it in the wrong place. Seme forget about counting chites first, you have the same reference.
I hope you do not get mad. I did not have to spend the comentoario this.
