The Aitu are a race of sentient shape-shifters indigenous to the northern forests of the Grey Realms. Known colloquially by the locals as “forest devils,” these animals – for they are, indeed, feral and instinctual in nature – are a subject of some debate, considered by some to be nothing but a mythical scapegoat for troubled housewives and men met with misfortune, for they are renowned thieves and troublemakers. Stories abound of trickster spirits in the shape of common animals stealing away cherished heirlooms or making ruin of a man’s crops, too swift or too cunning to be caught. Their natural affinity for shape-shifting makes them difficult to track and study by conventional means, however, and so local lore and knowledge on the Aitu may vary in accuracy and fairness.
Although indeed often mischievous or playful in nature, the Aitu, as they are called by scholars, are not malevolent creatures. They do not understand the concept of property or ownership as held by other races, and will readily take anything that piques their interest – this can include any assortment of things, from precious stones and other valuables, to children’s toys and worthless scraps – and even then, it is not uncommon for the Aitu to immediately discard their prize after having acquired it, their interest passed and gone. However, it is common for an individual to keep a collection of his or her most cherished items – sometimes these are kept on the individual, carried or worn as jewelry, while others hoard their trinkets in dens or other secret hiding spots.
Though these animals lack an understanding of ownership in the normal sense, and operate on a simple, often hedonistic basis not unlike that of common beasts, they can be extraordinarily cunning, and possess self-awareness and the ability to communicate with other, more advanced races, whether through speech or other means, with an intelligence that is roughly on par with that of a human child. While some Aitu are capable of passing as normal humanoids, they also understand that their kind is at odds with many of the intelligent species, but typically cannot fathom why. As a result, most Aitu live a secretive life in the wild, away from civilization in order to avoid the often hostile actions taken by their victims, only venturing into villages in search of food, items of interest, or, on occasion, an adventure.

A character I've had kicking around for a while now, but didn't have any proper art of her :b Her name's Pet :3 Looks like she's just plundered a certain someone's manor ;P

Aww, thanks so much! :D I appreciate it :) And, yeah, haha, the arm placement :b I wanted this to be a "worksafe" picture for my character as I don't often get time for personal pictures, but she DOES just go entirely nude all the time without giving it a second thought, so the arm needed to be there, haha.
Wow. Lovely piece here. So many neat details. Human like hands, goat legs, a striped booty, what looks like(to me) a foxy tail, and the adorable feline facial features. I didn't forget the horns, don't worry. I love all the little trinkets you put in this and I really enjoy the description you wrote. I hope this kitten knows what she's doing.
Heh, yeah, she's a shapeshifter with a number of different forms, so I tried to put a bit of each into the picture :b Human, cervine, vulpine, and feline qualities :3 Hahah, well, she probably doesn't quite know what she's doing, but she generally knows how to handle problems that come up ;)
Ah, they're from a world my fiance created :) He was building a MUX game (if you're unfamiliar, a sort of more primitive form of Furtopia or Second Life, kinda? no graphics, entirely textual, designed for RPing mostly, but a whole world you can explore and do stuff in) and we sorta ended up creating a creature concept for a potential character for myself on a road trip once. The idea of the world is that it's accessible to any and all worlds - those who "get lost" or can planeswalk/teleport may find themelves here, so while it's generally a fantasy world, you could play a "professional" computer hacker who's forced to adapt to a new old world without computers, or a Pokemon trainer, or whatever.
Teeeechnically, you could go visit it by using SimpleMU and his IP address, but the game is generally not running anyway :b
