This is me trying to start a fan-fiction from the anime and game series that's gone but not forgotten, Monster Rancher (or Monster Farm). Following the plot several centuries after Monster Rancher 4 and pulling in Monsters I've seen in screenshots from other related games and what I remember from TV.
Three young children from different parts of the world head to Coura Academy to learn to become professional and experienced Monster breeders. As they study their lessons and try to train their study Monsters, they have to go through criticism from other students because of the segregated land, and they learn more about the legendary Phoenix and the Monster that could bring doom, the Deathwing.
The headmaster of Coura Academy is preparing to start a new school year but he can't start without reviving the school's mascot.
