Since I got a new tablet... might as well try new styles!
What does one think? If it's good enough perhaps I'll tackle on a whole project with this kind of coloring!

Not bad at all! A very expressive bust shot with equally expressive colors. I admire the silky flow of dark gray starting at the cheeks; the shading is refined, which adds a lot of character. The muzzle is sleek, the eye and black lips have a light gloss, and the tuft of hair within the ear is dynamically curled! :D
I can't say I'm a topnotch art critic, but I think this piece is one of astounding quality to say it's "practice"! =)

If you have a tablet things you can start experimenting with are different brushes that give you different textures and shifts to color when you use them my best recommendation is to look through the brushes that are available and messing around with those and then finding some tutorials online for both Brush Creation and possibly downloading some prefab brushes to see what other people do to make their fur brushes.
Thanks for the advice!
I actually tried and fiddled around a bit with the other brush sets in CS5, but even though they're "supposed" to be like traditional brushes... they don't exactly look right :/ I definitely do need to do some more research into fur brushes though :P
