Just to clarify- this is unofficial (Which is funny, since nothing in PCA really is. ^^:) Basically, a collection of my ideas on how the PCA universe works, and the assumptions i"m working on in my stories. If you have any questions, opinions, or disagreements, please let me know! I'd be more than happy to edit or debate points, based on other's ideas. Also, if you wish to use any of these ideas in your stories, be my guest!

The way I put it "Husk" (my shedinja character) happed as a almost total spiritual opposite to my ninjask. The way I went, he was all the bit of personality, abilities, and traits that she never used given life and form. She is impulsive, he is thoughtful, she is loud and outgoing, he is quite and slightly reclusive etc etc. You get the idea.
Glad you finally posted all this as...well, to be honest a lot of this is conjecture that I'd thought of as well, so it seems you're not the only one thinking about this. Though I must say this is a well written and thorough FAQ.
I'd been thinking about doing a similar one for gyms and battling illustrating the ladder and what exactly a Gym does in the PCAverse as opposed to one in the pokeverse. I might just have to now.

Might not be a bad idea, especially if we can get other people to contribute their stuff...like say Carlito/Kompy/EL three headed monster and what they have.
Really should just follow through with my self threats to build up a Wiki, but maybe a giant FAQ might be good. I'll write up my thoughts soon and show them to you to see what you think.

"Delta" pokemon were featured in the Pokemon T.C.G. , more specifically , in the "Delta species" set.
Basicly, "Delta" pokemon, wether by environement or by genetics, have a different "Type" than they normally do. This goes beyond simply having been trained in a particular way and is an integral part of the pokemon.
In the card game, some examples of "Delta" pokemon are: Steel type pikachu, a Fire type Rayquaza, and a Fighting type horsea.

While there are a few examples here and there, I agree that we don't need to clarify the point much.
This can be dealt on a "case to case" basis as there are so few of them.
One interesting point to look for would be the difference in technology compared to a "standart" world. Having people that shoot lightning or breathe fire (just to name a few) would have a huge impact on technology.

Honestly, just for the heck of it. I've always had this thing for doing weird stuff. Dates back to my time as a DnD player.
There are other, more intelligent reasons for it. "Differences", whatever their nature, always add to a background.
In the case of my character, it would be a personal conflict as he comes from a traditional and "purist" family. Aiming to prove both to himself, that he can go all the way and to his family, that he's worthy of their respect and love.

Can I share a thought? It doesn't mean much, but I have a theory on Shedinja and how they come to life. Isn't it possible that a roaming spirit or pokemorph DNA long forgotten--those without the strength and power to become any of the various other ghost breeds--see the shedded skin as an empty host for them to use?
I had another thought, but I've since forgotten it. ^^; Let me know what you think, though, because that seems like a plausible explanation to me.

Well, you made the point that a ghost-type pokemon comes about when there is a large amount of spirit energy concentrated into one area. Wouldn't that give the impression that there are also areas with small amounts of spirit energy? And since the sheded skin is just an empty shell, they would not need to conjure forth a body for themselves, as there is one already made. For a shedinja, it may take just one spirit, as opposed to many, to recreate life.
Useful on many levels, not the least of which giving me a solid footing on what is considered the norm for the PCA world.
With Timothius' and my "Evolution Squared" storyline (and the related "Poke-Man" characters), the initial 'morphs, Evan and Raichel, were explicitly created by Team Rocket experimentation, and several Rocket members ended up branching off into their own "Team Splicer" in order to continue experimenting with human-Pokemon hybrids, but, otherwise, most of the other 'morphs encountered were rare and usually unexplained mutations, but the premise of those stories was to tell about the first arrivals of the pokemorphs.
My personal "Moro Island" setting (bonus points if you get the name), however, had a "secret origin" of the pokemorphs that would be revealed, but, otherwise, it was pretty much the same idea that "it just happened."
The section on shadow 'morphs is particularly interesting to me, considering my Nameless villain, a shiny shadow Charizard, was originally created by a hidden organization to take over Moro Island from its unseen ruler. In the PCA universe, he'd probably be much closer to the powerful underworld figure I originally created him as, a living weapon who rises to power through raw power and skill...which would bring how he came into existance in the first place an even bigger mystery.
Side note, and forgive me if this sounds offensive, but I was toying with a 'morph religion idea centering around induced evolution (maybe the derogatory slang term for them is "Stoneys?"). Originally, I'd compared them to the Jewish faith in how they're viewed by other 'morphs and in their extensive use of ritual and tradition, but I'm not 100% sure that is an accurate comparison in either instance. Any thoughts?

In regards to 'genderless' pokemon, It would be better to regard them as 'sexless', especially in the case of the ditto. While their physical body may not have any 'distinguishing anatomy', even in humans the sex of the body and the gender of the mind are not always linked (as is the case with everyone's favorite TG vulpix. :3)
Put it a different way, just because a Pokemorph is physically 'genderless' does not mean that it cannot have a personality that is definitively masculine or feminine.

Generally, no- sentient ferals seem to be out-of-theme for the setting, since its focusing on sentient, humanoid pokemon *anyway*. Ferals can be clever, even understand humanoid speach to a degree, but at best, they'd come off as clever animals. Of course, as always, exceptions could be made if you're fantastically clever about it and come up with a cool backstory, but J Random Feral walking around who can talk for no particular (Or cliche or silly) reason wouldn't really fly.
Another few quick questions:
1} I heard mention that the PCA is in the Hoehn region. Is this true?
2} If this is the case, what about the Orre region (the "frontier"-ish region from Colliseum and Gale of Darkness)? Seems to me, it might be akin to a much more barren "wild zone" like the Safari Zone (in the actual games, for some reason it always made me think of Australia, though...go fig).
3} I mentioned this over at Asuraldu's (sp?), but there's apparently some kind of ongoing, continually updating storyline going on. How the blazes does someone get caught up?

This is ultimate; this so perfect.
The explanation of shadow pokemon you gave is perfect. You see, because the soul is literally detached from the individual, this allows it to be restrained further through a correctly administered Dream Eater attack.
By restraining the soul, the individual can be controlled like a mind slave, and the raw shadow energy, now unhindered by the morals of a soul, can be tapped using ancient spells to accomplish great things, such as destroying an underworld imprisonment on a being.
Also, it can be explained how each of my characters embraced the shadows too.
You see, after experiencing all the loss of the loved ones in his life, Ignacious attempted suicide--several times--but every time it was stopped by an intervention. In desperation, he killed himself from the inside, pushing his soul away and allowing the shadows to fill the void.
Esmeralda entered the shadows because it was the only escape from the trauma inflicted on her many times daily by her horrific pedophile polygamist pimp of a father. This also explains why she's basically like a robot all the time--keeping her emotions imprisoned within her separated soul, until they build up and burst like a type 1 supernova as her soul tries to re-assert itself. This usually entails the dropping of a proverbial mental hydrogen bomb, and any psychics who don't know how to block their powers yet are in for quite an unpleasant experience if they're anywhere nearby her at the time.
Sergei entered the shadows because he basically gave up on ever feeling anything, since no one would show him any sympathy or love--he was a crippled mistake of his parents, he was picked on as a magikarp by everyone he encountered--because he was a cripple. So, he basically shoved his emotions away and embraced what was left to defend himself, which gave him a rush and seemed to temporarily alleviate the condition crippling him--similar to that of Tiny Tim, I forget what it's called. It would have killed him too if it weren't for the sambo training he received from a former Russian elite forces officer, and his subsequent evolution into a fearsome sea pokemon. Incidently, he is actually the closest in the team to be purified, his soul slowly trying to return to him, which puts a strain on the seal and often forces Nox to put him into a sort of catatonic state to keep him that way, seen as basically spacing out to those around him.
And finally, Natalia suffers from something like an evil megalomaniac syndrome. She was basically born with a very weakened soul (still trying to figure out how that's possible or what it means), and the shadows filled the void, turning her into a sadistic, sociopathic little nazi brat. And the worst part is that her parents are also nazis, so they encourage this behavior, but under controlled conditions, hence all the tutoring she received as a child.
Well, I do have other shadow pokemon characters, but they're still in development. Among them is Ignac's uncle and a marowak Kimimaro cosplay from a clan deep in the safari zone with the same bone keckei genkai as in the Naruto series, since that clan was ruthless and savage, perfect for the Safari zone (they use their own bones for combat rather than those of their dead mothers. )
And that's about all I have to say. Thanks again for the shadow pokemon explanation, Rikmach, as it ties in perfectly with my characters' backgrounds.

Oh, and I'd like to add in my own 2 cents about how the PCA universe works.
Yes, there is magic, and I'm justifying it's presence based on pokemon anime episodes such as:
Episode 74 - The Ancient Puzzle of Pokemopolis; A Battle of Ancient Pokemon (which is what initially inspired my whole shadow conspiracy in the first place )
Episode 243 - Hocus Pokemon; A Great Transformation in Pokemon Magic
Anyway, the magic of the world of the PCA was initially invented 1000s of years ago by the default ancient civilization plot device Pokemopolis. But because the civilization is so ancient, these magics invented by them are rarely known outside the respective ghost societies with members old enough that they were actually around back then.
These magics consist of a odd combination of Wicca and some stuff out of the Naruto and Fullmetal Alchemist animes (because they are simply awesome, no doubt).
I'm having trouble working out some kinks in this, however, so perhaps you could help me with it, Rikmach. I'd prefer to discuss it in live chat, and that being when you've answered my question in one of my above comments. You'll find it, and if not, I can give you my contact information for one of the major IM programs available, such as AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and Gtalk.

Me once more...got no idea if this has been addressed, but what about time-, friendship-, or location-dependant evolutions? In particular, I'm referring to Eeveelutions; in "Gale of Darkness," you could use items to evolve an Eevee into Umbreon or Espeon, so I suppose that could fall under the "if it happens in a core game, it's legal in PCA," but what about Glaceon and Leafeon?
I'd have to debate it with people, but the reasonable assumption is that either A) They have to go to a specially elementally-aligned locations and perform an evolution ritual there, or B) Have a chunk of material from said location brought to them to perform the ritual on.
As for happiness? Well... they evolve when really happy. For example, Ryuen evolved into an Espeon at one of his birthday parties where all his good friends attended and had a great time.

Well, since I'm inquiring about it because of the potential use of my possibly not-PCA-approved "mutant" Eevee, Eva Helix, in the PCA universe, I guess I'll need to work out how it would work out for her in the first place. I mean, her "gimmick" is that she de-evolves back to an Eevee after an hour, so I suppose if she discovers this ability as a teen student, she'd only really initially have access to her Flareon, Jolteon, and Vaporeon forms, MAYBE her Umbreon and Espeon forms if she manages to get ahold of the Orre evolution powders, and, far less likely, her Glaceon and Leafeon forms if she gets her hands on one of those "chunks" you mentioned. Hey, it'd be a good rationale for her beginning down the road to becoming the cat burgler she is in her adult stories...
