And with Anthrocon 2013 starting tomorrow.........
On June 16th, 2012, the staff at Anthrocon very generously gave me one of the largest panel rooms at AC to host my Voice Acting Workshop panel. Even more generously, they gave me a wide buffer of time after the panel so that people could linger and keep recording-- which they most certainly did. We recorded 17 scenes during this panel, which might be a record!!
Since then, I've changed jobs, bought a fursuit, started a new podcast, recorded multiple other podcasts, recorded a book reading, managed a rapidly growing FBA, and dozens of other things-- none of which is an excuse for taking this long to get this edited. But the biggest motivator to me is insisting on getting these recordings out before the next convention begins, which is why I've spent all of today locked in my studio and producing these recordings.
And there's a lot of fun memories in all of these. Thank you everyone who attended my Voice Acting Workshop panel at AC2012! I'm sorry I'm not able to make it out there this year-- that's something I will use the whole 'changed jobs' thing as an excuse-- but hopefully for those attending who were there last year, you'll get a chance to hear what you recorded and have some of the same fun fond memories.
And please, spread the word!! I know after a whole year, many attendees probably have stopped looking, but here it is, and I want everyone who did record to be able to hear!

In Muleskinner, the outlaw is a cougar bounty hunter who's tracking down a coyote gang who reportedly robbed a town's bank. In this scene, he stops by the local church to get help from the preacher, who's a Scottish cat not happy about being assigned to the American southwest.
In The Adventures of Barton Rouge, Barton is the first fox who's been able to steal any of the delicious meat from a smokehouse guarded by the biggest, meanest dog in the bayou. But after winning the praise of his fellow ferals, he witnesses the dog's owner beating his pet savagely then promising to put a bullet in his head come daybreak. Barton seeks out the dog that night to show remorse in this scene.

Anthrocon 2012's theme was "A Midsummer's Night Dream," so it seemed appropriate to include at least one Shakespeare script for this panel. This is the only time I've used Shakespeare, and I haven't used it since.
Ironically, the night before I held this panel, I attended a panel on Shakespeare hosted by
sparf where the green wolf talked about how many scenes in Shakespeare's plays are far too saucy even for a furry convention. The scene I picked was one he described. XD

Thanks! I've added your credit!
I always try to make everyone sound as good as I can. There's obviously the sound effects, but I also trim up the timing so the scenes have a better pace and I use an EQ and compression chain so the voices sound as big and full as they can be.

I love these, and cannot WAIT for the FC 2013 to be posted up!
I do have a couple questions though. Knowing you work at 2K Games, how does one pursue a career as a voice actor? Ive had about 50 different people tell me i have a lot of potential for that area, but i honestly have no clue how one goes about pursueing such a career.. Any advice or info you might be able to share? <3 Much appreciated either way!
Can't wait for fc 2014 to do another panel with you! ^_^

I get asked that a lot! I really need to fold it into my panels somehow, though I'm usually shy to talk about it because the truth is, it's not good news. Voice acting is such a massively crowded industry, it's extremely difficult to find work, let alone make a career of it. You have to start small and work your way up, hopefully getting enough of a name that you can make a career of it. But no matter how many voice jobs you want, make sure you get really, really GOOD at it. Take acting lessons, practice reading aloud, get extremely familiar with your voice and how it sounds in front of a microphone. There's a role out there for every voice, but to get a voice job and keep it, you have to know your basics.
