Commission: HollieHyena
An inked commission for
HollieHyena, part of her Emotion-Reflection project.
The picture speaks for itself, however I connected to this piece while I was drawing it - a great personal and business illustration.I had to jump into her character's shoes and just picture myself in her situation.
Much like several conflicting voices in one's head, there are also multiple reflections of one's self, constantly hounding you. They are all apart of you, yet sometimes you feel like they are against you. You can't really argue or communicate with them. All you can do is just listen to them talking and screaming in your head like a room filled with chatty chickens. The ones who scream the loudest, the ones who catch your attention most of all, are those negative and aggressive voices. All you can do is listen to those echos in your head, like your neighbor's stereo blasting right above you and refuses to turn it down. Throughout the entire room of your multiple personalities and emotions, conflicting and arguing without rest, you always have to remember that there is a small voice still trying to talk above the rest. That small voice is your calm side, your happy side, your positive side. Try listening to that instead of the arguing. That small voice holds everlasting truth about yourself. It will always be there to comfort you. You just need to listen to it instead of the vast yelling of everyone else.
Im rambling. Sorry.

In the Terry Pratchett Discworld novel Witches Abroad, the saavy witch Granny Weatherwax and her not-so-saavy twin sister Lily find themselves trapped in a Limbo of sorts made from an endless array of mirrors. Death tells each one that if she can find the mirror that reflects her true self (or words to that effect), she can escape. Lily ends up frantically racing about, checking each and every mirror for its reflection, but is presumably still trapped, still trying to find the exit. On the other hand, Granny immediately chose her own body and thus got to finish the book and appear in several more.
