"Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand.
I don't care, I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me..."
-from The Ballad of Serenity by Sonny RhodesSo, I blame this on
who has kindly played in my goofy, campy scifi universe. That being said, it was only right that I play in his sandbox. Hey, I might be more of a Star Warrior, but I'll gladly wear a Brown Coat any day. Since he's more of a Browncoat than a Star Warrior, I figured I'd bastardize his fandom, starting with remaking a Firefly poster.

Of course in the middle, we have Malcolm Reynolds (Anatolian Shepherd). To our left, we have Inara as a fox (come on, there WAS no other choice). Below her, we have the Tam siblings, Simon and River right below him as stoats (why, because stoats are insane and clever little bastards, so I figured it fit). Up front we have adorable little Kaylee as a raccoon (gotta love SHINY things). Up above her, there is Jayne's hat and Jayne (a rottie). Also above her and to the right, we have Shepherd Book as a bighorn ram. To his right, the wonderful war maiden, Zoe as a honey badger (because they don't care), and, of course, to the far right, Wash as a cute little alley cat (*cries*).
Also, for those of you who want to stay flyin', check out the fanfilm in production here http://www.browncoatsuniverse.com/ . Mr. Ruggels is working on it, and it looks pretty damn interesting.
Might color this one day, until then, I'm proud enough of it not to throw it directly into scraps.

Oh heck flippin' yes!!! This is epic! I love how you titled it and added the ballad. I also love how you drew them! Even with the animalized, I still recognized every single one before reading the description! :3 Also, good choices on the animals. Who else thinks Jayne is a Rottie? X3

He's a noble lookin' character period. I cried like a fucking baby when he died. It was like losing Old Ben Kenobi only more graphic and you liked Book more (yeah, I know, helluva thing for ME to say, right?). I'm glad you like his representation here. Ram just seemed to fit him, and I thought it would play off of his relationship with Mal since Mal is a shepherd breed. Loved their unspoken father/son, mentor/learner relationship.

There is often something lost between sketching and inking...and I don't know what it is, but it seems to plague most artists. I'm glad you like dissa one. I'll probably do digital coloring on this much like I did the Obi studies, so you'll still be able to see the sketch with inking and color. Thanks as always for your thoughtful comments, girl!
