George Reference Sheet [RETIRED CHARACTER]
THIS CHARACTER VERSION IS NO LONGER ACTIVE. PLEASE DO NOT DRAW HIM. THANKS!
Look guys it's that dude on my icon! Also Linda's dad and Meredith's love interest. Hurrah!
Bio:
George grew up in a rural town with his parents and three older brothers. They were incredibly hard working ranchers and had little time for fooling around or giving much affection. Since George was the "baby" and his shy nature rarely brought him into trouble, he received more attention from his parents compared to his unruly brothers. Despite this, or perhaps because of this, when he got into his teens he was considered the weakest of the bunch and was constantly hassled to work harder.
When reaching proper age, he and his brothers were sent into the military in order to bring in extra money for the family. George seemed to be failing at his training for the longest time - until he found his talent as a rifleman. He was enlisted as a sniper for the remainder of his military term, which he succeeded in fairly well and earned much respect from his family. After 10 years of service, he was injured on a mission and was honorably discharged.
Within a year or two of readjusting to civilian life, he met his future wife Jenna and the two were married and had their daughter Linda by the time he turned 30. His family did not approve of either the marriage or his child (Jenna was a "mutt" and Linda was albino) but he didn't care. They lived happily for many years and George returned to his love of the outdoors by becoming a tour guide on both the blacorite homeworld and on another (currently unnamed) planet.
Sadly, his wife eventually passed away due to a long-term illness which left him heartbroken and forced to take care of his 12 year old daughter alone. This sent him into a spiraling depression for many years, which nearly ruined his life and his relationship with Linda. After several key events, his depression finally started to lift, but at the price of having him with a loss of employment and few friends.
14 years after his wife's death, he has found the motivation to move on with his life, but still struggles to be social and return completely to his former self - something he doubt he will ever do.
Personality (elaborated):
As said, George is a loner and has spent the last several years living alone since Linda moved out when she was around 18. While he's certainly not socially inept, he does get anxious when around people, especially large groups, and sometimes doesn't know the right things to say in certain situations. So for the most part he keeps quiet and stays to himself. He's also very paranoid and constantly talks about safety, which is likely one reason he stays a hermit. He may also show slight more feminism at times compared to the stereotype of men: he's obsessed with cleanliness, can be very emotional, is fond of pastel colors (especially pink), and other frilly decorative things. Granted, a lot of this was influenced from his wife and Linda, but some have been with him since he was young. As well, While he is a happy person at present, sometimes he does lapse back into fits of depression, particularly if he thinks back on things too long. He's still very protective, especially of his daughter and his property, and if riled up can become quite aggressive and won't be shy to drop his fearful outlook and break out his rifle to intruders or attackers. This is a rare side of him, though.
Coupons:
Since he has spent a large amount of time unemployed with only retirement checks assisting his living, he found an alternative to saving every penny he can through coupons and sales. He's grown incredibly attached to this hobby and spends many hours a day scowering through material to find coupons to use and keeping them in his notebook. He saves a good deal of money this way, and as such he has become a big tightwad when it comes to money, and he refuses to pay for things that are too expensive under his standards.
