Hey, I’m Jaden. Nice to meet you. I'm a freshman in college with a double-major in English literature and Communication. I might be taking on a theatre minor since I've kind of found a passion for stage managing. I want to go to law school and be an attorney.
I’m generally a fairly nice person, but sometimes I tend to get a bit feisty. I really dislike large-scale social gatherings because I feel like I’m expected to talk to people and socialize with them. I don’t do well with that kind of stuff. I have to have at least one person with whom I can be myself, otherwise, I clam up. I do much better with one-on-one interactions with people I really know. I also tend to be generally distrustful of most people, having had issues in the past with people breaking my trust. For that reason, I’ll only show my true feelings around the people who know me the best.
Very few people actually know the real me. There aren’t really a ton of people who know that I’m bisexual, although I’m slowly increasing that number. It’s not something that I deliberately avoid talking about, but it is something that I don’t really bring up for no reason. My willingness to discuss that subject will generally depend on the person asking and the reason for their asking. If the person is genuinely curious, I’ll usually respond fairly pleasantly. If the person is just being a dick, I’ll probably tell the person to fuck off.
Outside of school, I’m a lifeguard. I always knew I wanted to be a lifeguard. I don’t know why, but from the time I was able to know what a lifeguard was, I would get my visor out and tape a red cross on the front and pretend to guard my cousins’ pool. So now I’m actually the head lifeguard at a pool, and I’m sort of living a childhood dream. I’m also a competitive swimmer, so when I’m not at work, chances are that I’m at the pool for practice. I swim the sprint freestyle events and relays, because trying to do butterfly tends to make the other lifeguards nervous. Yeah, it’s that bad.
Ironically, I have a tremendous fear of asphyxiation, specifically drowning. I have panic attacks if I start to choke on water or if I feel like I’m not getting enough oxygen in my body. It’s really freaky. I’m also really terrified of needles. I start to hyperventilate if I have to get shots or a blood draw or anything like that. IV’s are my nightmare.
Hmm...what else to tell you about myself. I’m a total grammar freak, so I always try to speak as close to the rules as I can. I’ve been known to correct people on occasion if they say something that’s not grammatically correct, and I’m a nightmare editor for people with poor punctuation skills. I get really aggravated when I edit things that are just totally falling apart at the seams.
Oh, I also referee soccer. I do a little bit of everything, don’t I? I’ve been doing that for about five years and I’m always a fair official. I want to get certified to do high school soccer games and to officiate high school swim meets.
And I would say that’s about it. I can’t really think of anything else to tell you, but if you think of something, feel free to ask me!
